I think cause Yuko is that one tropes where the girl is close as best friend and so when the couple got upgraded relationship, it doesn't feels awkward.
I absolutely love her new voice. Takes a lot of her scenes that were kinda forgettable before and made her so much more interesting and likeable in them.
This is maybe the most "realistic" romance in this game. Persona usually struggles on this regard imo, the reliance on shonen/shojo cliches, the writers had no idea how to write women, etc.. but this particular romance makes sense as a teenager couple, they start interacting because they share a common activity, she found her vocation in life, later here it comes the hormones, etc.. basic as hell, but it works better than most
Yuko isnt even that deep of a character. I mean I like her fine, she just isnt the most complex on paper. But Shelby Young just adds so much to her through the tiniest vocal inflections.
The new portrait sprites and the fantastic VA really elevated the Social Link of Yuko and made me appreciate her much more than compared to back in Portable 🥰 Just a pity that the dev team didn’t make a proper cameo of confirming that the "Spunky Boy" (or "Boy with a yellow shirt" from P3P who even had portrait sprites back then) is in fact Ryuji from Persona 5, considering he had some unused costume dialogue regarding Gekkoukan High 🤷
Actually nice that they give you the option to give a friendship route with every girl now and actually bothered to make a different 10th social link for it as well. Not that is is completely different but it is nice that they at least did that much.
I got different rank 8 and 9 conversations than you. In 8 it was before the party at the school gates and there was no boy/girl option. It was about where to have the party: cute/practical/either. I also didn’t even get a romance option in 9 and the conversation was slightly different too. I really think there are romance flags you have to select in order to even trigger those versions of the ranks. In 7, I didn’t choose what you chose.
I felt crazy when every site I went to didn’t have that alternate scene documented then I figured out it was tied to the rank 7 dialogue, you’re the first person I’ve seen talk about the difference so I’m glad I’m not the only one that noticed that lol

I was playing portable edition back in the day and targeting date on Yuko, And now i didn't doubt anymore why i targeting her, Tomboy Supremacy are dope tho
