    When I first watched this I thought that he was a terrible guy - partly because he reminded me of my ex boyfriend. But watching it back again he wasn't. She prioritised her house, her friends and her interests and then expected him to be there when she was ready. She was hurt (understandably) but at least he tried to explain his thoughts and feelings and did treat her with respect. Unfortunately poor timing and circumstance was the issue here. Great film though! Showcases some of the beauty of Italy. Peace to you all xxx

      Yes, you are so right. But sadly there showed very typical reason of cheating. More correctly is giving up on the relationship. And lots of Italian guys like him. And many Americans ladies are like her. Nobody is bad. Just difference in culture and how we were raised.

      I think so too. I kind of found her behavior immature, typical of Americans. Sometimes, life just doesn’t go the way you plan it, and her pouting when she doesn’t get the man she’s dreaming of, even though she’s in Tuscany, has a beautiful home is unattractive, and childish. But I do understand her sentiments.

      I like to watch the last scene: Francesca (Diane Lane) standing barefoot in her house as the spigot flows freely. Everything came as she had hoped, and then some. Her beautiful smile of gratitude and joy -- a gorgeous face. Cut to black. Beautiful music for the credits.

    This is why being single is better... To me, if it ends in failure, then it was NOT worth it. It's NOT better to have loved and lost. Better focus on REAL LOVE: Career, pets, hobbies, blood family, friends, travel, etc. This is where REAL, LONG LASTING BLISS COMES FROM.

    • @stephabo3787
      @stephabo3787 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      LOOK AT THAT MAN. Did she really think she could leave him alone for that long? You couldn't leave a man like that alone even for a day. Somebody will snap him up. She thought she had him but guess what? NOPE. The only thing she could do was walk away with her head held high and remember - LOVE WAITS FOR NOBODY. He wanted more but her head was somewhere else. So she lost. Like he said - what did you expect??????

    • @3333sweetie
      @3333sweetie 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      steph abo He should've waited a bit longer. Wouldn't have killed him. Like I said, love is okay. It's not the best thing in the world. A good career and family/friends are.

    • @stephabo3787
      @stephabo3787 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      3333sweetie So tell me - how long was a man THAT FINE supposed to wait? Didn't he say it had been months? Men like THAT need attention. An ugly man? She could have taken her own sweet time coming to him and he would have been there but HIM?? Um, NO. YES, I agree the way he dumped her was not the absolute best way he should have handled it. But the truth hurts. He was being honest with her the best way he knew how and it hurt. But she had so much going on and he tried to get together with her but she just had more important things to do. So she lost. It was not meant to me. He was right - these things must happen naturally and he saw it was not coming together as it should have. So he moved on to someone who felt he was worth the effort. End of story.

    • @3333sweetie
      @3333sweetie 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      steph abo Well, if you really love someone, you will wait. Pus, she was helping someone in need, so she had a good reason. So what if he was fine? he's gonna age and be an old bag of wrinkles one day. Having good looks doesn't make it a right to just be selfish and dump someone like that

    • @stephabo3787
      @stephabo3787 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      3333sweetie No, it doesn't. The fact of the matter is - she let love slip through her fingers, whether he is good looking, average or ugly, thinking it would wait until SHE was ready. LOVE waits on no one. He told her there was more there for him and he tried but she wasn't there. They could never meet up. So good looking, average or ugly - was he just supposed to wait indefinitely? Wondering if she would ever return? Life moves on and he did just that. Was his world supposed to stop because she wasn't putting any effort into seeing him? Yes, she had a friend in need supposedly but he needed her attention also. No man good-looking, average or ugly wants to be put on the back burner.
      Do you remember what he told her on the beach? "If you smash into something good you should hold onto it until it's time to let go." He was telling her if there ever came a time where he would have to let go HE COULD. That was her cue right there to hear him but she didn't detect the hidden meaning. So don't blame him for moving on.
      And THAT MAN would NEVER be an old bag of wrinkles. He would age like FINE WINE. Have you seen the actor that played Marcello? GORGEOUS AT 42. At 62? I'll bet he even looks better. Not all men age badly.

    Honestly I wasn't surprised that he cheated on her. Not because of her but because of him. From day one, he said "you are too late, I've already found someone else" therefore, he cheated on that woman to be with Frances whom he has known only a day before sleeping with her. Sure he wanted have a relantionship with her after that, but she should have been aware of the fact that he is a player. And he blames HER for making him sleep with someone else because he couldn't wait and couldn't reveal it to Frances.

      BS. Nobody said he was in a relationship. "I found someone else" doesn't mean "I'm in a monogamous relationship". Maybe it was a flirt, maybe a ONS who made him interested, whatever. Sleeping with someone doesn't mean monogamy. Therefore, there's no evidence he cheated on anybody.

      I agree. Her head was in the clouds and in her house and in her friends and he was there for her to take but she missed a grand opportunity. He told her he wanted more to happen between them but he couldn't make it happen all by himself. So he had to let it go. She could have had him if she wanted him but she lost by her own fault. Love does not come to you. So very true.

    • @3333sweetie
      @3333sweetie 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yoli E Maybe love exists but maybe it does not. I won't give you false positivity and false hope and tell you to not give up like most will tell you just to make you feel better and nor will I tell you there's someone for everyone when I know it's NOT TRUE. MANY people go to their graves without anyone, no matter how hard they tried to find someone. If it's meant to be, it'll happen. If not, then you have to learn to enjoy being single. IF there was someone for everyone, then EVERY serial killer or serial rapist would have a mate, but that is not so. Plus, someone for everyone goes against science and the concept of population control The world would be overpopulated if there was someone for everyone. And who knows if love even exists? You an't rely on boyfriends/spouses to make you happy or comfortable. You need to have that on your own. I'll tell you this: There is someone for SOME PEOPLE, BUT NOT FOR EVERYONE. People are selfish at heart, and relationships often lose their novelty after a lot of time together, so the best thing is to try to find happiness in yourself, friends, blood family and hobbies, pets, reading, career and travel. Do that, and life will NEVER feel incomplete. People give relationships way too much credit. Our divorce rates are disgusting, and rarely do people marry for love anyhow. it's overrated. It's NOT BETTER TO HAVE LOVED AND LOST. Just be happy in yourself and your life and heck with romantic relationships If you find someone, fine, if not, don't worry There are far worse things in life than not finding love.

    I wish they hadn't made Francis meet someone new. I think Hollywood gives the wrong message when they make everyone who's been hurt in love find someone and have a happy ending. It gives people the wrong message, since many people never find love. Someone for everyone isn't true at all. Why not have an ending where she actually accepted being single and enjoyed it and maybe focused on friends and family? She might not have succeeded in romantic love, but she did in other love, which is just as special, if not more.

  • @lisa-el3db

    She was ready, he was not. I adored the realtor, now he was a real man and gentleman. He looks after her, hates to see her so sad, gives her hope. Gently helps her open her eyes, as does the woman in the fountain. I always felt that house she bought was really her. Questioning her choices, some bad, some wonderful. We must learn from the bad ones, in order to make the good ones come true.
    One can say they are sorry for a mistake they made, but not a trust they break. Forgiving a mistake can be done, but someone who breaks their trust can be difficult to forgive, sometimes impossible.

    Personally, I think Marcello just wanted sex from Francesca. Most men will never respect a woman who puts out too soon, so to speak. This is why a woman should NEVER, EVER have sex too son until he puts a ring on that finger. Romantic love has too much heartache. Hence, why romantic love is soooooo overrated. Most people can handle only the good in love, not the bad. Love hurts, it really does. Focus on friends and family, who'll love you no matter what. As a female, I'd never trust a man fully. I wouldn't ever buy any of their bull.o
