I remember sitting at a table at Starbucks next to a really pretty girl. A guy came over and sat next to her. He tried to do the same thing as Brad Pitt only he screwed it up by repeatedly putting his foot in his mouth. The girl put him on blast loudly in front of the entire starbuck which was full. The cashier started giving her moral support so she could push back against him harder. He persisted for a good 20 mins. When it was done, he practically limped away bloody in front of the whole crowded starbucks. He escaped and probably never spoke to another woman again.
People also get the feeling of interest when there's mimicking. That's why she did that little smile and laugh. They already know they're both interested.

this is a strange movie... I remember watching it back in day when I was a teenager and I was amazed... Now I just watched it again for a second time in my life... And its still amazing, but I cannot say that it is a good movie. I do not know how to explain it. But it has something very special. How its made, filmed. All the actors, how they interact with each other. Those little subtle details almost in every scene... even if the writing is not that great sometimes. Anyway a very special strange movie, also a very good time capsule.
That's because you pick up on things that don't make sense like how some random guy was able to get in Bill Parrish's vicinity so easy, and even how Bill Parrish was so quick to take him at his word about his identity. A lot that happens in this movie is too far-fetched. It's not a masterpiece by any means, but the humanity that it conveys is done so masterfully and it's all thanks to great dialogue and good acting. Not to mention the music score. Whisper of a thrill will always be on my playlist. It's a sentimental movie and that is why it's considered a chick-flick.
I actually think this routine would work for most guys if they had the social grace that Brad has. But his looks got him through all those times he put his foot in his mouth when he was practicing all those years. Looks make it easier to reach that point where people have the experience and social grace. But jobs like sales will get you those skills as well. Unfortunately, fewer and fewer jobs are social in nature. More and more jobs are very mechanical, require very little social interaction, etc. Society is regressing. Women in the future will be watching these scenes of ancient 20th century men flirting well because, in the future, there won't be anyone that can socialize because of the work from home transition. We are doomed. Unless we come up with some new way to socialize regularly. I say we should all go back to communal living. It has been great for me. I wish I would have done it all those years instead of doing the apartment and house thing like society told me to. You get way more social interaction living with a group of people. You meet all their friends and become friends with them as well. More fun, more enjoyment, more growth as a person, etc.
Working from home was boring after a while, at least for me being stuck at home doing chores e-mails and coding bs oh yeah let’s just all use zoom and socialize behind a computer screen. It’s fun at first but it’s just not the same without physical interaction. I think it has to do with me being an extrovert person I like to be around people and start trouble.

In person interaction leads to the type of connections that lead to great job offers, great information on how to level up in my field, opportunities to switch career fields, and so on. The list of benefits is quite long. I think work from home is something I will want once I am at that point in my new career where I will be such a strong candidate that I can always jump into the next high paying job if I lose my current job. IE. once I do not need a career network anymore.

Hello, I’m an introvert too and this worked for me when chatting with strangers: No expectations, other than having a nice talk. People trip up when they worry about what the other person is thinking. Don’t be impolite and just try to progress one topic at a time, starting with your greeting. If they don’t want to continue, that’s Ok. I don’t take it personal and I hope you don’t either. Practice really, really helps. I used to be really shy and never took initiative, but I forced myself to take a job where I absolutely had to talk to people everyday. It was simple, but it was not easy. Every week I felt more confident, and after around 8 months I could talk to pretty much anyone. It really does get easier, but you have to want to make it happen. Good luck.
