Excellent video! Thanks so much for this overview. Straight to the point and agreed on basically all settings you have going here. I’m an a7iii to now FX3 user and very pumped to start shooting with it!
You can change between Touch Focus and Tracking Focus on the flip screen directly! Just touch the tracking display box in the upper right hand corner of the screen to toggle through the different modes! Have fun!
on 5:48 you talked about the zoom range, you mentioned you were going to show how you have the clear image zoon with the " 50% extra zoom " but I think you forgot to show us how you have it setup
The S&Q end trigger record is really good and worth checking out! Especially when shooting 4k 120 or 1080p 240. You never miss a critical slow motion shot and it saves a ton on disc space and edit time.
How I got around switching between quickly changing Touch Focus and Tracking. My Menu is assigned to button 4. The Top item in My menu is Touch Func, in shooting. choice of Touch Focus, Touch Tracking and off. Your video is very useful, I have shared it to my Facebook FX3 group.

Most of it is the same but there are some different settings on the FX3 from features the a7Siii doesn’t have. As well as a few items the FX3 doesn’t have since there’s no EVF on it.
Yes, you can either insert the memory card into the computer if there is an SD card slot or use a usb to SD adapter. Or you can hook the camera directly to the computer using a usb-c cable.
Quick question? We have the Fx3, but when we go to the pp settings to look for S-log 2 it’s not there. Any idea on why or how to download S-log onto the camera?
You should be able to select S-log 2 on any of the picture profiles. You go to picture profile, scroll down to any of them and right click. Then scroll down to and click "Gamma." This will allow you to choose from the following: Movie, Still, S-Cinetone, Cine1, Cine2, Cine3, Cine4, ITU709, ITU709 (800%), S-Log2, S-Log3, HLG, HLG1, HLG2, & HLG3.
I want to display the clip name label 'c0001' etc on screen while recording - I've seen it done on fx6 but is this possible on fx3 too? I've not been able to find the menu for it so far and start shooting in a few days!
The rec media settings seem to have changed after the 2.0 FW update - I can't seem to set both slots to record video - each slot can either be video or photos but can't set both slots to video so I'm confused. prob something v stupid but any ideas?
You can put aspect ratio overlays onto the screen to help with framing but it still shoots 16:9. Changing the aspect ratio is something you do while editing.

Another video that actually covers nothing the title suggests. Could you please correct the title? There is nothing "cinematic" about setting aspect markers 😛
You’re right! There is no single setting that makes a video “cinematic.” But they are tools to help you get closer to that “look”. Setting aspect ratio markers is a tool that helps you frame your shots based on how your ending aspect ratio may be, choosing a frame rate is a tool to give you a certain look for your video, choosing among various autofocus and touchscreen settings are tools to help you with the image to get a certain look, choosing apertures for various depths of field depending on your scene is another tool, setting the proper white balance is a tool to make sure your image looks as close to real life as possible (or not if you want a different look), etc, etc, etc… there’s no ONE setting that makes a video or camera more “cinematic”; it’s how you use it. I’m just sharing my settings that I typically use.
@@CamberFilmSchool I just meant that the title suggests something different then "just the settings you use". Whats the point of just walking down the menus if you don;t motivate the choices you made. I own an FX3 and have it setup in a completely different way. @@CamberFilmSchool Well i feel dumb. Thought that lens was full frame, thanks for correcting me!
Yep, that’ll be the reason why. Usually whenever you have a focal length range that large, it’s probably not a full frame lens.

No, memory settings are saved on the camera, not the memory card. Formatting the memory card only erases all the footage on the card.

Yea, the new firmware update deleted it. I actually rarely use PPs for my typical shooting. I still need to experiment with all the new options.
@@CamberFilmSchool what log is good for Log shooting mode?
Depends on your color grading skills. SLOG3 is good, but you may need some ND filters for the higher base ISO depending on the shooting location.
how do you get 24p i can only get 23.98?
Different firmware versions. Its basically the same thing.
How to change the aspect ratio?
You can put aspect ratio overlays onto the screen to help with framing but it still shoots 16:9. Changing the aspect ratio is something you do while editing.
Does it have streaming option?
No, but there are HDMI connections so you can hook it up to streaming software.
