I wrote and illustrated a children's book for my 2 grand nieces where they were mermaids 🧜♀️ and had it printed locally. Pretty pricey, but well worth it. Had about 30 copies made for family and friends too. And I was so touched that they loved it! I would like to try to get it printed through KDP now, so doing my research online for that. This is how I saw your video! I Love your illustrations too! And wishing you more success! ♡♡♡

I've been struggling to get my 3yo into books. I've tried all the gimmicks (flap, textured, sounds, read aloud, flashlight, pop it, etc books). Nothing kept his attention long enough for me to actually have time to read the pages. He is a FAST page turner.
For whatever reason THIS has been my breakthrough. He saw me watching these videos and he was mesmerized. After seeing it was on kindle unlimited I downloaded it and let him check it.
The first night he made me READ it (actually stayed on the pages long enough to read them!!!) 5 times back to back. This has been his go to since. He talks to Brooklyn and the candy people, laughs at the monsters, and points out specific things on the pages.
Definitely recommend for small children and will be purchasing a physical copy of the book soon!

The book looks AMAZING!! What settings did you put to fix the issue with colour on the skin?
Thank you! I just changed the levels and saturation in the file
For the colouring problem, I would look into the og image files and see if its in RGB or CMYK. If you had already taken it into account and sent everything in CMYK then it might just be a calibration problem on the company's printer 🤷🏻♂️
Yeah I definitely have to double check my original file settings bc they might be in RGB.Thank you for the advice!!❤️

Hey! Congratulations! Did you publish your book via kdp? I wanted to double check the printing quality. I published a notebook as a trial and the pages were so thin that the images were seen through.
@@Alex-ki1tl Oh that’s unfortunate. It’s hard to know the quality of the paper and printing on kdp in fact each print comes out a little different every time.

Thank you so much! Kdp is a bit tricky when it comes to coloring or at least for me it was but make sure you get the test print right before publishing!

How did you corrected the colours in the final version...?? Please make a video on it that will be very helpful because I'm also planning to make a children's book too...
I just adjusted my colors in my illustration files and just hoped for the best. It’s really hard to tell what colors you will get until you receive a test print.

Thank you so much for ordering! Sorry about the quality 🙁 I’ve heard this comment a lot and for some reason Amazon prints books with different print qualities. I sent them a complaint but no response yet. Not sure how to change this unfortunately :(

It’s a great option but it does have its flaws. It’s definitely worth trying out tho!

What kinds of costs did you have to deal with? My wife and I are writing and illustrating our first book and we have no idea what to expect as far as any up front costs.
In terms of printing through kdp there is a price to pay for the proof book as well as the final copy. This can vary depending on how much you price your book. Unfortunately I don’t know what price to expect when hiring writers/editors/illustrators because I did all of this myself. It was really inexpensive for me because I only had to pay KDP fees which are pretty low compared to other companies. It’s a really hard question to answer because it can vary so much. I’m sorry I can’t be more specific!
@BBParkart Thanks for the response, it sounds like we will be taking the same route as far as we're writing and illustrating the book ourselves. I now know what to expect as far as getting a final copy copies. But we were curious of any service fees from the company you used. If you could give anymore information now knowing that information that would be greatly appreciated!
@@reformedcraftsman3373 KDP really doesn’t have any other service fees as far as I am aware. The only other fee you might encounter would be the cost of owning your own ISBN although KDP offers you a free one you can choose to opt out and purchase your own. I might do this next time because it will allow me to sell it to other retailers.
