Thank you guys so much for watching this video! I apologize for the video quality as we are still filming on my iPhone, but hopefully you were able to get some great tips for your own spaces! See you guys next week for another full video 😊
To add to the paint thing! I personally go to the home improvement stores in my area to check mismatch paint. I've gotten high end paint (Valspar) that is typically $35/gallon for $9/gallon (I've gotten 5 gallons for as low as $25 as well). For years this has been how my family affords to repaint our homes. Of course you have to be mindful of the amount of paint vs the size of your room, but it's always worth a shot if you are doing improvements room by room. The upcycling during the renovation at your parents house is a fav. I love seeing budget reno's and things the average person can do. Thanks for sharing with us!
I want to hear more from your parents! Can you do an interview with them? What they were expecting in the Reno, their favorite room, their least favorite part of the old house, how has it changed their lives, what kind of hosting will they be doing, are they missing anything that you may have gotten rid of.. etc. Their reactions were great but I’m just wanting to hear more from them!
Love these ideas and tips! My husband (a budget-conscious ex-architect) took a similar approach in our home remodel a few years ago. Some additional tips: 1. IKEA! They have a “not quite perfect” area near the checkout lanes, where you can find excellent deals. Also, (and perhaps more importantly,) if you start to see their offerings less as “kits to build what you see in the store/catalogue” and more as “spare parts you can use to build whatever you can imagine,” you can create some amazing things. For example, we’ve made headboards and closet doors out of large panels intended to be the sides of IKEA closets/cabinets. Also, they have excellent prices on lightbulbs of all shapes and sizes, and cool lighting fixtures. 2. If you have a Reuse Center (or similar: like a thrift store for construction materials,) look there! We bought a solid wood door (painted an icky green and all scuffed-looking) for $50 and had it sandblasted, then applied a clear protective coating. Now, our front door is gorgeous! 3. Stitch Witchery! For those who don’t sew, but want to make curtains or throw pillows, etc.
My parents have a nursing home that they opened 20 years ago and it is stuck on time. The budget is tight but i hope with your channel i can come up with cool ideas to make it awesome again
This is so cool! I'm a DYI queen myself and I've flipped many apartments. Grew up with an interior designer (my mother) so I learned a lot from her, altso from watching home improvment shows. One thing I've discovered about white walls is that if you add a light muted warm shade on an accent wall or maybe a corner nook in the room, it warms up the entire space and creates a cool trick for the eye. Your eye still kind of thinks it's white, but the entire feel of the room changes and there's a whole other depth. Really cool, and still inexpensive with white on the rest. PS: I was inspired by the office wall and created a textured wall in my bedroom. :D
Um, wow? These are super actionable, unique, budget-friendly ideas. FB marketplace is awesome! My brother just furnished his first rental home ENTIRELY through FB marketplace.
I love your work! The renovation looks so clean and beautiful! Also I would recommend Spar Urethane over Polyurethane for outdoor use. The cans themselves describe Polyurethane as an indoor use and Spar Urethane as outdoor and thicker
Your DIYs and styling is just so elevated. The way you upcycle or create items is just so good. I can imagine them sold in stores for waaaay more than you purchased/diy'd it for. You go girl!
Great tips! I did DIY reno on 2 houses with materials from ReStore, Habitat for Humanity's thrift store for building materials, furniture & other great stuff about 50% prices of retail stores. Most towns have them.
You always have great tips. Following you here from Tik Tok. Your parents house is beautiful and gave great budget friendly ideas. Can't wait to see what's next!
Cannot wait for more of your videos! Like this so much. I just moved in to a new/old apartment, that will be fully renovated, and I will use your knowledge and skills to pull it all out. Thanks!!
Having some experience in rehabbing old homes, I have to say this is incredibly resourceful work! I see everyone's trying to get a final budget number out of you, but judging from the items you "upcycled" and your resourcefulness, I'd venture a guess to say you spent well less than a third of what a typical flipper would have for the same effect!
Hey sweetie love your videos, it help some much. Where did your buy edge guards? We about to paint our kitchen & living room, this such a good idea to use. Thank you.
