Dornier, whose production rights are with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, India, has just released an all new Dornier 228 passenger plane. Maiden flight took place last week on 12th April.
Such an awesome catch, I have never had the opportunity to see one of these interesting turboprops. Stunning view of the aircraft climbing with the mountains peaks in the distance.

Well well well, the Dornier 228, my all time favourite turbo prop, I have a lot of history with these. Flown in quite a few but unfortunately haven't seen one in a few years, thank you very much for uploading this beautiful video. That sound brings back such wonderful memories.

Great aircraft. My first flying job was in the right seat of a 228 out of Las Vegas. I believe that they still operate from North Las Vegas airport if you want to see one. It's a unique airframe.
Even in Japan, Do228 is still flying, and you can see it in Tokyo.I fly regular flights every day.The latest Do228-212NG model is operated daily by an airline called New Central Aviation to remote islands in Tokyo.
It brings back memories of flying Suckling Airways on the Amsterdam-Cambridge route many moons ago.Thanks ever so much Matthias for your wonderful uploads!

Brilliant as always! What a nice catch. I once flew on a Dornier 228 myself (Suckling Airways Cambridge Airport) it was a pleasure type flight. Lovely conditions for filming, great sound and definitely added to my favourites list!

I came back to this video and I forgot to mention that I almost hear the propellers over the wind noise from 1:05 onwards. Also, what do I hear in background starting at 1:22?
Exellent for short runways,that all they use on one of the worlds shotest runways lukla in Nepal..most that climb Mount everest fly into this airport..
Nowadays, we have, the 228 NG, reinforced with better engines, five blade propeller, glass cockpit, less consuption, more confort for passengers, almost with the same design, improved capability, with noise and polution reduced.

+IRISHROVER You have quite a variety of good old planes up there. I flew once to Donegal with a Saab 340 - you know;) It was awesome. But I know there are other gems too like the Let410 or the Do 228. This alone with be worth a visit. I love the Scottish landscape. So we have to think about another visit. Cheers Matt
Ja, die Do 228 ist tatsächlich etwas besonderes. Ihr Aussehen ist zwar etwas ulkig, aber diese Maschine hat's "faustdick hinter den Ohren"! Nicht umsonst ist sie eine der wenigen Flugzeugtypen, die in Lukla (VLNK/LUA) starten und landen dürfen. Der Steigflug vor dem Alpenpanorama ist wirklich großartig. Daumen hoch! Wir haben/hatten gelegentlich Arcus Air in Basel aber die wurden oft angemeldet als sie schon praktisch da waren und bei einer Standzeit von manchmal nur 30-45 min. war es immer zu knapp um zu reagieren:-( Zum glück gibt es noch andere Tolle Flieger wir erfreuten uns am 22. März an einer C-130.

We called it the Dork. Garrett engines - 731 horse a side. Our models didn’t have autopilots or flight directors.

100 series(15 seater) with cargo doors. I have over 9000 hours in the 228!

The aircraft, which was manufactured in the 1980s, practically no longer flies, at least here in Europe. That is why it has become very rare here.
