    This will go very viral. Loved the Encounter and the Lore. The Giant as big, cattle-like gorilloids... not stupid, but slow, not tame but docile unless provoked... more like bears, not looking for conflict but simply destroying a tent in the process of looking for food... that's a novel take and I really like it.

      @@Enkrod I’m glad you think so! We’ve been playing in this world for a little over a year now, and this is some of the most thought and care i’ve put into a custom setting in my near 7 years of GMing, so it’s wonderful to hear others enjoy it.
      The Hill Giants are definitely cunning and, like any wild animal, shouldn’t be underestimated. Our campaign has heavy undertones of Man vs. Nature and the corruption/degradation of the latter, something which the Campaign’s main villain really embodies. i would love to go more in depth about in another video in the near future!

    I really like your interpretation of Hill Giants more as smart animals rather than moronic people. I've been thinking about doing something similar for my homebrew setting, and your video has really inspired me to continue with the idea. I really look forward to learning more about your setting, I've always wanted to see some more unique takes on giants and giant-kin for inspiration, and it seems like this setting has exactly what I'm looking for.

    I love this homebrew world! I've always been a big fan (no pun intended) of D&D Giants, they have so much rich lore where you can make something amazing and wonderful. If you have a google doc, I would 100% read the lore of your world. But I will say that I like your redesign for Hill Giants. I always saw them as unique because you can do anything with them. They could be more connect with nature, making them into druidic giants, or they could be nomadic people that travel throughout the lands. There is so much you can do with Hill Giants than just the standard stuff. Though I can't wait for the next video and see what you've done with Storm Giants.

      @@dominicadorno5917 Thank you so much! Unfortunately I don’t use google doc to write down my notes (I use notion.so), but I will be routinely making and uploading videos about this world! I’m also still working on storm giants, but i feel like we’ve had some good ideas for them so far.

    Pleasantly surprised to stumble upon this gem of a video in my recommendations. Both the design and the artwork expressing it are great; hill giants are actually my favourite iteration of the archetype in base D&D already (I find them much more versatile and compelling than the rest), but I love how you've reconceptualised them to align with the core concepts of your setting. The premise is very tantalising, I must say, so consider me intrigued.
    I also appreciate the thorough presentation. It's always nice to get a good insight into other people's creative process.
    I'm not sure if this was your intent or not, but the way your design melds with its environment - the silhouette, the moss-like strands of fur with clods of earth matted in - struck me as almost a more literal interpretation of the name "hill giant", bringing it further in line with the rest of its kin. I love how you've pushed it down this animalistic, ape-like path as well. It seems like it could be an earlier evolutionary divergence, a branch of the family tree that retained many of the primal traits the other giants lost. The chimp to their human, if you like (although from the sounds of it, I don't think the creatures of this world were naturally selected - I'd be curious to know).
    Anyway, great video, and I look forward to seeing more of Therenor.

      @armata_strigoi_0 Thank you for such a wonderfully thought out comment. Hill giants are also my favorite of D&D’s giants, as I feel like the other five are too bound by the niche-ness of how they establish themselves in the Ordning.
      I’ve removed the Ordning from this world in favor of a system where the giants are simply a much older race of beings infused with primordial spirits who, over the course of thousands of generations, have been drastically and magically changed by their environments. No one giant race is superior to another, and all giants play the unique role of ensuring a healthy and thriving world, whether it’s unintentionally, as is the case of hill giants, or deliberately, as will be with stone giants. I plan on going over them in my next video.
      Thank you for finding interest in my world. I look forward to writing more about it over the coming days!

    It actually makes sense that Hill Giants are gluttons, despite how cliche that is
    A creature of this size (think bears or mammoths) NEEDS a lot of food to keep itself alive. Most animals do two things in their life; eat or look for food. That is when they're not conserving energy through sleep. It makes sense that to keep up with that size, musclemass and weight, hill giants need to eat at least their body weight, while not being very intelligent because complex thinking also takes up energy

    Great twist on the hill boys! The way I handled their basicness was a bit different. Hill giants are known to have the most muscle out of all the giants, but it is hidden behind all that fat. So in my world, the dragons almost won the war against the giants. But they made the fatal mistake of underestimating the hill giants. Taking note of their gluttony and lack of intelligence, they imprisoned them in a mountain range and left them to starve under the watch of one of their greatest warriors. The hill giants went into hibernation, lost all their fat and became hyper muscular roided out giant bodybuilders. Ravenous from hunger, they awoke from their slumber and broke through the mountains, absolutely slaughtering their draconic captors and devouring them. When lean instead of obese, hill giants are at their peak performance, moving at blinding speeds with dexterous and savage movements and using their immense strength, comparable to some of their larger kin thanks to their increased musculature, to terrifying effect.

    I love this take on giants and can't wait to see what you cook up next! Instantly subbed to the channel and I would love to see more of this world!
    I will ask, are dragons and other fantastical megafauna present in your world? In my world's North there is a region where the giants live a nomadic pastoral lifestyle with their herds of mammoth while keeping any thieving dragons away. The people of this region are sparse but eek out a living trading with the comparatively simpler giants by crafting them metal tools in exchange for some resources and protection against the many threats a smallfolk settlement is unable to fend off.
    Also, Sawyer Lee's Dragon Slayer Codex has a very interesting take on giants that you might find interesting and perhaps insipirational. They are still on the end of being more primitive and simple than humanity, yet remain distinctly intelligent and function as a somewhat benevolent protector of people in some areas. Love your work and can't wait to see more!

    • @KrazyKDice
      @KrazyKDice  6 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thank you so much! Dragons and some other homebrewed megafauna are absolutely a presence in this world as well, and they still scuffle with giant kind in some areas. One of our players is a Drakewarden Ranger, so this became an important part of his backstory once he hit level 3.
      I Love the mutual relationship folks in your world have with giants, it provides them with so much more depth than just another monster to be slain. I definitely want to explore that relationship with some of the rarer giants in my setting.
      Also, i’ve heard a lot of good things about the dragon slayer’s codex! I’m certainly going to have to check it out. Based off your description alone, it sounds very similar to what i’ve been planning for my stone giants, who watch over the mountains and the animals that thrive there as ancient, druidic stewards. I plan on this being the next video I put out!

    Really love this concept for a world: unreasonably massive. I'd love to see what religion is like for the people here, and the giant natives. What stories do they tell about themselves? What form does their worship take in a land overshadowed by breathing collosus?

    • @KrazyKDice
      @KrazyKDice  6 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I've put much thought into religion for this setting. I was interested in the idea of developing a religious system which was very Animistic, really trying to hammer home the idea that every living and breathing thing plays it's own part in this world. Giants themselves would hold very primordial spirits within them and would feel much more in tune with their environments. Both smallfolk and giants would worship a small group of ancient spirits which embody different aspects of life, such as interconnectedness, resilience, and rebirth.
      There would be six primary spirits in total, each one associated with a Giant type, but giants and smallfolk would pay their respects to multiple spirits, if not all of them, when the need arises. It's still a work in process, But I'm excited to elaborate more on it in the future!

      @@jamestitus472 In a way! We have one cleric who’s playing with phb domains and worshipping a forgotten realms deity, but i am in the process of assigning the cleric domains to each primary spirit for future clerics to choose from if they wish. A cleric devout in their worship would be able to call upon these spirits and draw power from them. I suppose it would be similar to how a life domain cleric would operate, where their power is connected through their nature and their faith.
