Bought my grail watch from Teddy, got to support the hometown kid. Wonderful experience, easy, prompt communication A+ Now onto the watch. I’m an industrial designer from Cleveland. I work in engineering, specifically machining. Something about the look of this watch screamed dial indicator, or any instrument used in precision applications to me. However something about my upbringing in design resonated that there’s something else deeper going on here from an experience standpoint. The watch embodies the “less is more” approach. There’s the perfect amount of information and indication, yet not a smidge of excess! People don’t understand the difficulty of that feat. It’s a Goldilocks design. The watch looks excellent on men and women. It manages to be diminutive, almost forgettable, yet has a stunning, jewel like saucer quality making it have immense presence only to whisk back into the night and be casual and non-flashy. It’s so incredibly classy and timeless. It has the ability to be a stunning dress watch, then dressed down to a very subtle/simple subdued piece. Again, very very difficult to achieve. I believe the watch goes well with any straps because you’re not dealing with hue. Everything about the watch is perfectly balanced monochrome value. The way light plays off the watch is really stunning. The legibility is incredible, all print is super crisp. Even the small 5 minute callouts are so tastefully done. The lume is really interesting, it’s razor sharp, very little area in lume but again it looks so tastefully minimal. I’m really blown away by a truly timeless design. I will stare at this watch in wonder chasing the elusive universal design this watch embodies. I have no doubt I just bought a family heirloom, and something I will get joy from admiring, glancing at multiple times per day. It will never get old. Great to own my first grail watch. Thanks Teddy for opening the door.
That is excellent to hear and thank you for the support! It is a design language that resonates with me as well and is a piece that will always remain in my collection.
This was my first big watch purchase. My wife got the quartz version and it was to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. Great watch. Lovely and thin. It goes well with a variety of straps. It can look casual to classy. Your channel was the first time I discovered Junghans back when you showed your chronoscope. Thank you and keep up the great work
@@AldoFelt I have the quartz and it is awesome. I have it on their milanaise bracelet and it is so comfy to wear. The mesh on the bracelet is very dense which makes it a very comfy fit on the wrist. I can recommend it for sure.
I just finished my bachelor’s degree and purchased this watch from your website to accompany my suit at interviews and on the job. Excited to see it in person. Purchasing is always an enjoyable experience thanks to the Teddy Baldassarre team!
Wow, I'm sooooo glad you mentioned buying it for interviews because I want to buy one for my son's interviews and wasn't sure if it was appropriate for those settings. But, I thought it's minimalist character would make it fitting for those scenarios. I like that it's minimalist, but a little bit sporty looking.

The Junghans Max Bill is one of the nicest watch, in the typical german Bauhaus style. On the twice place comes the Nomos Tangente from Glashütte, and then the Sternglas Zeitmesser from Hamburg. All are in the Bauhaus style and very nice. Much greatings from Germany..... 🙂
I bought this watch and put it on a Minalese mesh strap. That pairing is the my favorite watch to date. And I have owned the Grand Seiko shun bun and the Omega Seamaster Black Black. I prefer the Max Bill and mesh strap to watches $6,000 to $8,000 more. Go figure, lol.
You can get it without the date window, if that's your preference - although it has the same movement, leaving the crown with a "ghost" position. I just got it with the black dial and the lumed numerals, and it's absolutely gorgeous.
Hi Teddy - thanks for the review. I just ordered the Max Bill automatic, an extra blue strap and the watch tool kit. Happy with the shopping experience and will shop with you again. Thanks for your watch reviews as well.
I think it’s a use case thing. My Max Bill is a dress watch. I don’t need sapphire or a date window for that. I do want elegance. The old model is less practical, but I think more elegant.
I bought this popular video watch from MAMACOO , which was originally priced at a few thousand dollars, but now it's only $380! It's really suitable to pick up feces!
I love the look of the acrylic crystal, and I’m open to getting the sapphire, but I’m scared the sapphire won’t give the same look/vibe. Which one do you think looks better overall, acrylic or sapphire crystal?
I see all kinds of videos and we the people want to see a side by side comparison of the same watch with both types of crystals. Also explained the different looks between the two. I would have placed an order long ago but these content creators just can't hone in on the important details. Without brick-and-mortar stores existing we need all the help we can get when ordering online to make a decision.
I've seen the brand before online and saw it in person at a watch show in NYC recently. I instantly recognized the brand when I saw it. The thing is, for the quality, I think it's an excellent value. I love the style. It feels part vintage. Part modern. Very minimalist in both regards. It would go with just about any clothing option too. Definitely on my list.
I have the sapphire version of the Max Bill Chronoscope and the plexiglass version of the Max Bill Chronoscope and the Max Bill Automatic. I have to admit, though sapphire is nice, the plexiglass does look better and is more in the spirit of the design. I actually prefer the plexiglass, though I'd recommend sapphire for daily use and plexiglass for a watch in rotation with others...

Beautiful designs Even though the looks of a plain dial might appeal to some people, I just can't compromise having a date or luminous options on watches of this caliber. Thanks for all your vid3os and info
Great review Teddy. I was fortunate to find one with a plexiglass crystal at a price that was too good to pass up from someone who wore it once during their wedding, just received it today. It will be in rotation and used for dressier attire rather than daily wear so the plexiglass crystal isn't too much of a concern and it just looks incredible. Love the way the dial and crystal have that curve at the outer edge, there's nothing else out there that has the same visual effect IMHO south of a Ressence.
This watch makes the case for the Bauhaus theory of less is more. I've had a Max Bill for over a year. It not only wears well on my 6 7/8" wrist, but it looks great. I have the gold case with a tan strap.
Does the sapphire crystal mean it's clear glass vs acrylic? Is the 3502 a clear glass and not acrylic? Also, they keep saying it's a dress watch, but I was going to buy it for a work watch for my son, who is a scientist in a genetics lab compiling and analyzing data on a computer. Can it be an everyday professional's work watch?
What’s your opinion on the radio controlled solar version which also features sapphire glass? I am not sure which version to go for. I plan on using it as my daily office watch
I certainly feel what Teddy is saying about liking the watch but not being able to exactly explain why. Im a dive watch guy and love, love catchy dials. But im in need of a dress watch recently and the plain white dial and black strap is very nice contrast, plus the ease of reading the time at a quick glance really is quite amazing!

Real Bauhaus, not "Bauhaus inspired". You can also get this with sapphire, time-only. I owned two Junghans automatic dress wristwatches. It is a well-designed wristwatch. One is gaining minutes and the other is losing minutes. When people review this watch, they never talk about how accurate the timekeeping of this watch was. It is the worst watch I have purchased. The timekeeping of both eyes was never correct. I would not advise anyone to buy such an expensive, inaccurate wristwatch. The hand-wound version might be different in terms of timekeeping and accuracy I don't know because I don't own one. I am using this medium to tell the world that Junghans is producing a watch that is not fit for purpose. The quality of the Junghans wristwatch did not justify the price.
@@markkulyas2418 I would like to respond to your comment. It is like buying a car that sometimes speeds and sometimes it speeds slowly who would buy such a car? Well, they should have included the timekeeping and accuracy of their watches inside the manual booklet that came with their watches. They won't do that because if they did nobody would buy their watches. What they did technically was a scam. Manufacturing an expensive wristwatch that was not up to the standard.
