The Ice Breath wasn’t from Godzilla, he has an Atomic Breath. The Ice ability was from Shimo, a new monster that they’re hiding in the trailer whose eyes glowed in the dark.

I believe originally an X between two names was used in the fashion industry to symbolize collaboration. The X is a cross. It is a cross-brand, cross-promotional effort between two people or companies. Using it instead of "and" symbolizes two separate entities working together while staying separate. Sometimes name order matters and the X is a stand in for "by", meaning its the first names IP or product being done by the second name, but thats not always the case. As for Hunter X Hunter and Spy X Family, i heard the use there is unrelated and HxH uses X to represent multiplication, so it mean Hunter squared, any SxF did it as an homage to HxH.

When you put two singular things together as a single thing it's called addition, you use a "+" sign. When you want to add multiples to a singular to become one thing you multiply with an "x". That's a lot of "Kongs" but there's only one King of them. Donkey isn't there, he's got his own thing going with video games, has him a nice place in Malibu now.

Godzilla might have started as a dark and serious film in the 50s, but the vast majority of the stuff that came out afterwards was fun and silly monster v monster action. I'm glad the MonsterVerse is following that pattern 😊

*Shimo* *Wasn’t* *Shown*
Well, we do see her eyes when Kong is looking very startled at who he’s seeing and uses his battle axe to shield himself from Shimo’s frost bite blast. And part of her feet got cut off and a distant shot of her blasting to the sky. And a few frames of her tail and shoulder. Kong has no chance against Shimo. He can beat Skar King with a beast glove but not Shimo.
To explain Shimo to some uninformed folks here, she’s like the first titan/kaiju to ever exist. Her ice breath caused the Ice Age. She was the one who froze Ghidorah. She’s the one controlling Skar King. I hope we see Tiamat in this but according to the prequel graphic novel, Godzilla: Dominion, it says Godzilla already defeated her prior to his fight with Kong. She’s not dead though.
The movie, Godzilla vs. Kong from 2021, that’s set in 2024 or 7 years after the final scene in Monarch’s last episode set in 2017. Godzilla x Kong could be set in 2028 since Jia, the little deaf girl, has aged. I’m reading Mothra will be returning. She’s going to stop Godzilla and Kong from fighting. You need to rewatch the previous movies and rewatch Monarch carefully to know who’s who and what happened during the prehistoric ages.
Shimo is a Japanese word for “frost” or “gray hair”. Since we’re also seeing giant apes/kongs, this is a great prep for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. Skar King is supposed to be 400 feet but Godzilla and Kong have grown themselves after 4 years. He uses a weapon called Whipslash. If Shimo stood straight up, she’s rumored to be nearly 600 feet.

Godzilla and Kong will fight in Egypt in this movie. Kong has the glove (or his Infinity Gauntlet) and he knocks Godzilla unconscious. Then Kong is going to drag Godzilla into Hollow Earth to fight Shimo and SK. A lot of G fans don’t like this because they feel their favorite kaiju is more powerful than a big ape. They feel G is getting nerfed again.
I personally don’t give a shit. This is CGI kaiju WWE. We don’t need to take this stuff so personal and so seriously. It’s a lizard and monkey tag teaming to fight an evil lizard and evil monkey. If you want a serious Godzilla movie, go watch the 1954 film, the 2014 film, or Minus One. GxK is a buddy cop movie. I have no problem if this movie stars Kong again like the previous 2021 movie. It’s not like Godzilla has much of a personality to convey emotions.
Godzilla fans keeps saying Kong has no superpowers like Godzilla does. Neither does Steve Rogers, Bruce Wayne, and Tony Stark. I was rooting for Batman to beat Superman in 2016. If Godzilla does beat Kong, then the movie ends because Kong would be dead. That’s like asking Superman to kill Batman and the entire Justice League. Where’s the conflict then? Or Godzilla can hurt Kong badly, he’ll have to fight Shimo and Skar King by himself.
In a way, Kong is forced to carry the movie again because he’s the closest to being human. He’s looking a lot like Kratos in God of War (2018) in this movie. Between Kong and Godzilla, Kong is the one who can show the most emotions. You don’t really see much emotion from Godzilla and he’s not connected to a little girl like Kong is. And listen to the narration…

This is my most anticipated movie of 2024 ever since I bought a Hiya KOTM Godzilla figure and watched Minus One a week after that. I went onto binge watch more Godzilla movies after. Then bought a Hiya G21 V2 figure after selling my KOTM. Then bought an Art Spirits Hyper Solid Series Kong that looks great next to my Hiya G21. I bought Team Godzilla and Team Kong hats from Redbubble that I’ll wear and rotate with my other 18 hats. G & K rule!!
MonsterVerse Godzilla and Kong have become my favorite version for each character. It’s MCU but with kaijus. It’s probably more consistent than DCEU. GvK is my favorite movie for both iconic titans. MV G fans tends to prefer KOTM more because we see Big G kick more ass in it and it’s more like a 60s to 90s kaiju movie fighting King Ghidorah and Rodan. I could barely remember what happened in it and the movie was too dark like the 2014 one.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire basically feels like MonsterVerse’s Avengers: Infinity War. I’m anticipating this one way more than Deadpool and Wolverine because we’re talking about the two greatest titans in cinematic history joining forces to battle Shimo and Skar King. You can see how Shimo looks through the Playmates toys. I personally don’t think she looks as cool as Skar King. But wait when we finally see Shimo in the movie. The trailer made the wise decision not to show how she looks.
People who love MCU, DCEU, or Star Wars but are feeling disappointed by some of their stuff over the last few years should try to get more into the MonsterVerse lore. It’s a lot deeper than it looks. I personally hope we see more MV movies involving other monsters Godzilla fought in the Heisei Era like Destroyah, SpaceGodzilla, and Biollante. And can we finally see a live action MV Gamera in a Godzilla movie, the original Ninja Turtle? 🐢 😂 Have Gamera and Doug be homies.
I’ll be wearing my red Godzilla shirt and Team Kong hat when this movie comes out. Then I’ll switch wearing a Kong shirt and a Team Godzilla hat when I watch it a second time. I may watch it as many as 4x. I love these two “legendary” icons! 🦎🐊🦖🦍🦧

I’m good with my Godzilla and Kong figures but I really want a great figure for Shimo and Skar King. The latter looks like a badass! It’s live action King Louie on a diet, sitting down with swag and ready to whip some ass with his Whipslash! But I’m reading Skar King isn’t an orangutan but an orange chimpanzee? Got it. Chimps are very aggressive compared to orangutans.
I can imagine all the kaiju toy collectors can’t wait to get their hands on new figures for these new baddies. I know many on TH-cam use them for their stop motion videos. I think Hiya is your best bet. S.H. MonsterArts has gotten so bad lately with poor paint apps, bad QC, and prices are ridiculous. SHMA Minus One retails for $140 but can go as high as $170. That’s with the tip of the tail breaking off easily.
Hiya does the best MV Godzilla toys and prices are only $50-$60. While I don’t really care for their Kong, I do prefer it more than SHMA’s. Kongs are more available since Godzilla tends to sell out more. The Kong I have is more of a statue than a toy since his joints don’t move but it has fantastic articulation. It’s a shame NECA doesn’t make MV toys anymore as I thought they made their Godzilla better than SHMA and were cheaper than Hiya.
Shimo is supposed to stand on all fours, so she’ll likely be pretty long as a toy figure since if she stood up, she towers over the other kaijus in the movie. I just hope Hiya does a great job with her. Since she’s a white ice dragon, she’ll probably get dirty easier. I hope there is an Art Spirits Hyper Solid Series figure of that blue eyed orange chimp with great articulation like they did for Kong. This movie is Kong turning into King Kong after he defeats Skar King.

So it’s officially confirmed a couple of days ago that Shimo is a she? If this was Star Wars, fans would get mad. But since Shimo isn’t a famous character, it doesn’t feel like a gender swap. Shimo is now the mother of kaijus. Watch Godzilla lose to his mom! Not feeling the pink on Big G. A carryover from WB’s Barbie success.
Warner Bros. did a great job NOT showing Shimo. Remember the final trailer to Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)? It showed Doomsday. It spoiled everything. We figured Superman and Batman would stop fighting and then take down Doomsday with Wonder Woman.
It’s better to keep Shimo under wraps. Let her be the big, bad mysterious kaiju. Let us all first see her when Kong first sees her as this movie is coming from Kong’s perspective again thanks to Kong’s more human elements and Jia’s connection to him. Godzilla might show emotion through his eyes, but it’s too subtle and not everyone can read what he feels. Kong can do sign language with a deaf girl.
What if there is a sequel to this? Like the marketing has been Skar King as the big baddie for this movie while they hide Shimo from us, but what if Godzilla and Kong fail to take down Shimo? I’m not sure we’ll see much of Godzilla either. At least not at the start. This movie feels like Kong vs. Skar King. We saw Suko taking shots at Skar King. Shimo could be so powerful that it takes another movie to beat her.
The plot does look predictable. Kong likely loses to Skar King during their first encounter. Has his axe destroyed from Shimo’s frost bite blast. Gains a beast glove. Fights Godzilla in Egypt. Beats Godzilla with that glove to knock him unconscious. Then drags him down to Hollow Earth. They go fight an evil version of themselves. Kong likely defeats Skar King in their rematch. That alone is as cool as all the fights in the recent Planet of the Apes movies.
A reptile and monkey fights a bigger reptile and monkey and all hell will break loose. I love it! It’s no sin or crime to love both Godzilla AND Kong while rooting for them to beat the living shit out of each other along with other kaijus! Legendary is giving us what we want. Epic fights between iconic titans and no more guys in rubber suits are required. Imagine Thanos and Hulk had the power to be larger like Ant-Man and all they did was fight in the movie? I’d pay to watch that.
Again, smart marketing move by Warner Bros. to keep Shimo a mystery to us with the trailer. So when we first see her in the movie, we could have the same reaction as when Kong first sees her. Like, oh shit. Who dat? The only thing that spoils what Shimo looks like is the Playmates toy of her with a photo of her on the box. But we still don’t know how big she is. WB learned their lesson showing too much with BvS.
Warner Bros is going to kick ass this year!
The Flash flopped big last year but they made it up with Barbie. They got Godzilla x Kong, Furiosa, Dune: Part Two, Joker: Folie à Deux, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Twisters, and House of the Dragon Season 2 lined up for this year.
Beetlejuice 2 is the one I’m becoming more curious about. Jenna Ortega as Winona Ryder’s daughter in the movie is perfect casting! The new Wednesday Addams, the iconic goth princess, is the daughter to the iconic goth princess of the 80s and 90s in Winona Ryder. We didn’t get Christina Ricci to portray Morticia, but I guess Winona as Jenna’s mom is close enough.
Wikipedia gives multiple uses for x (under the article for "multiplication sign". The most relevant two seem to be:
- *Cartesian Product:* Applied to two sets, this yields all possible combinations of items. One example is [the set of all ranks of playing cards, 2 through ace] x [all four card suits], which yields every card in a deck. If we apply it here, it would mean [every Godzilla-like creature] x [every Kong-like creature], so we'd see a team-up or fight between every possible pairing of titans.
- *Species hybrid:* Used in biology to indicate when something is created from a cross of different species. Here it'd mean Godzilla and Kong have a love-child. (Or lab-grown spawn, same difference. LOL.)

It's an alternate dimension, time moves slower there, a month could be 50 years. Watch Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters, it's a prequel series that jumps between various eras between 1955 to 2019 around the founding and history of the Monarch Program, which isn't all that different than Stargate, each gate opens at specific places and releases a Titan, or rather spits one out from sucking them in from their world.

iirc (LoL) the X can by substituted with the word "with" or "by." So though it's silent verbally, you can translate it to with in meaning. Hunter with Hunter or Spy with Family, or even the group TxT (short for Tomorrow by Together.) I actually think that's a very cool way to title a show. Short and to the point. This what our show is about. if that's the correct meaning. I'm more certain in this memory because this is not the first time I've asked this question to myself.

Yes. That was an Ice breath. Skar King isn't the only villain in this movie there's another villain who is an Ice titan and they are called Shimo

Throughout alot of media the "×" has been used as "cross" for crossovers. Manga titles I'm guessing is a silent "and". Shipping characters is probably "and" in that department.

While I’m not the biggest fan on how Godzilla and Kong look in this movie as I’m not feeling Big G’s pink and Big K looking older and more 2018 Kratos-like, there is still a great shot GxK will go down as my favorite Godzilla and Kong film ever. It’s a tag team matchup between a giant dinosaur and giant ape fighting another giant dinosaur and giant ape.
If the fights are badass enough, I could care less what the story is or how forgettable the human characters are again with the exception of Bernie Hayes and Jia. Brian Tyrese Henry is basically comic relief for MV at this point like he was in Bullet Train and Anthony Anderson was in Transformers (2007) and Tyrese Gibson was in any Fast movie. I only want to see badass fights between giant monsters.
I have a feeling Shimo was digitally erased in some of the scenes. If you go back to the Captain America: Civil War trailer, Spider-Man was not in that scene when they were running at each other in the airport. But when we see the movie, he’s there saying, “They’re not stopping.” Some scenes get altered for the trailer only for us to see a different scene in the movie. Remember Thor: Ragnarok? Hela broke Mjölnir in a city for the trailer but it changed in the actual movie.
Now maybe some sexist fans out there may not like hearing that Shimo is female. I think she was originally male and it was spelled Shimu. I can imagine all the Godzilla fans whining that their G-man loses to Kong and then he has to fight a girl… 🤣 It’s a f-cking movie. It’s not like Godzilla is invincible. Writers can make Superman lose to Batman before he starts screaming, “MARTHA!!!”
Chill. I think the most interesting fight will be between Kong vs. Skar King. The movie likely starts with Kong anyway because Jia is probably going to be shown early since movies like this usually starts with a human. Even in the 2014 and 2019 movies without Kong, Godzilla was barely in them. That’s a typical Godzilla movie. Maybe 10 to 20 minutes of showing him. Then the other 1 to 1 1/2 hours of watching human characters we don’t care about talking.
This feels mostly a Kong vs. Skar King movie but I do believe Godzilla returns the favor to Kong and saves the day at the end. Godzilla will defeat the mother of all kaijus. That’s weird to say. Godzilla beats up his mom….🤣
Bigger team-up; Justice League VS Godzilla VS Kong. The Monsterverse monsters are magically transported to DC comics by Toyman's wish, he touched a magical artifact in the Fortress of Solitude while the Legion of Doom were watching a multiverse video of the King Of The Monsters and Godzilla VS Kong battles, Superman wasn't home, he was at the beach with Lois, next thing he knows Godzilla is unaliving him, no worries, Batman has a contingency plan for just such an occasion.
It's a 7 issue mini-series that was part of a promotion with 2023's Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters TV show, which you really should watch before going any further into the Monsterverse, you already got the movie reactions out of order.

Not releasing both Godzilla movies on the same date was a waste of a good “barbenheimer” cinematic event.
