I own one in .22lr with a walnut stock. It’s no Fortner, nor an Izhmash...but as you pointed out, it’s much more affordable than either of those-I cannot find an Izhmash 7-2 (Biathlon) in Canada. Why am I so interested in getting one of the rifles that the SPA is trying to imitate? I’m quadriplegic, but really enjoy cycling the action. I’ve heard that it’s possible to send the rifle back to the rep & have the toggle action made super slick but that’s 2nd hand info. Beautifully made rifle, that’s fit & finished superbly, except for the action. I’m sorry, talking about my rifle as I can’t say that I like the plastic rifles. Thanks for sharing this with us!
Must of got lucky with yours. Got a synthetic, sadly disappointed with the quality. Bolt was all scratched from bad machining, stock was scratched and the a-hole at the store would not open a box and show one unless you bought one. Bought one and opened it up, took it out of the plastic, and he refused to swap it for one that looked like it was meant to be, brand new out of the box. Refund offered but very very very few stores had them. Was never sold on as it shoots very well, and is damn accurate. more's the pity. Don't know what is with the reviewers trigger, used a couple of them and they had nice crisp trigger.
Very good video! "Accurate" is a relative term but I just bought the so-called "carbon" version; although I'm not sure there's any carbon fiber involved. It looks cool anyway. I need to buy scope rings to fit this but there's no picatinny or weaver rail and no actual "dovetail". Mine's more squared off than that. Seems to be about 11mm but with my old eyes it's hard to tell. What size of rings are you using; what size base I mean? I need to know which size to buy. Thnx.
you got from Bullseye north ? got mine from there this past black friday . I bought a 11mm rail off amazon. waiting for my 4-power scope to come in the mail.
Not sure how ISSC got away with copying that Steyr action but I hope there are no problems. Getting replacement parts for any ISSC is a pain in the ass.
The Hunting Gear Guy That’s a good move on their part. They didn’t get the same agreement with Glock when they made the M22 (often called the Baby Glock)
I have the steyr scout version of this in 22 magnum and it shoots 3-4 moa group at 50 meters. 2-3 at best. I'm almost certain it's the exact same action and barrel as this so I just dont get why it shoots so poor. I think it has to do with how the barrel sits on the steyr chassis.
The rear action screw that comes up through the rear of the trigger guard threads into a press fit threaded sleeve in the back of the action. This sleeve can easily pull out over time making the rifle loose in the stock. Remove the barreled action from the stock and check to see if the sleeve is comming out. If so you will need to remove the threaded sleeve and use an appropriate adhesive to fix it into the hole it gets secured into.
It's probably doable in some form but would be difficult because the chamber pressure is much higher with .308. If I remember correctly when lever action design was evolving in the latter half of the 1800s they could only use pistol caliber cartridges in lever guns until they switched from a toggle based action to a falling block based action. Once the falling block action was designed my JMB they were able to chamber of in more powerful rounds e.g. 30 WCF, 45-70, 32 special etc.
whoa did you put video of you shooting the gun you're reviewing at the beginning AND END of the video!?!
revolutionary
Mind blown
mwmwmwmwmmdw It’s a crazy, but wonderful world!
Great review!!
Another option for this kind of action in Canada is with the Volquartsen Summit
Never heard of those, interesting. $1400 for a straight pull rimfire that uses 10/22 accessories, that's neat. Easier to find mags!
Awesome review as always. This is a sweet looking little rifle. Thanks for another great video brother.

Really glad you're enjoying precision sport shooting.
Wow, that’s an unusual mechanism!
its what all the Olympic style .22's use

hey I heard you talking about this rifle on slamfire radio the other day!
Great review 👏 I like the action!
That reloading looks effective!!

I think it's licensed/made with Steyr's approval because they named it the Steyr Scout RFR.

@@huntingupland they make the steyr .22 and 17hmr steyr just put their badge on it a chuck in a knife
@@Lost.aussie This is correct. ISSC made the Scout for Steyr.

It's the 22mag/17hmr mag.
I wonder if mechanism like this would work on rifle rounds like 308

Not an identical action but pretty damn interesting if you ask me.

savage impulse
I've been using this rifle for some time now but I have quite some issues with the ejection of cartridges, did you have this too?
I wish that "Luger Action" was a spring-return design.
What are the groups at 50 yards
Can you get it on a category a or b license in Australia
Not sure, I'm in Canada.
Is the bolt removable for storage and transit?
You can remove the bolt but it's not quick
@Huntinggearguy thank you I thought as much.
This your new Mapleseed rifle?
7 months on and these seem to have disappeared, anyone have an idea where to get one in 2020?
i have just bought one here in austria today
is it sub 1 moa accurate?
No. I just got the ISSC Scout SR in the mail the other day and will be shooting it for groups this weekend or over Christmas.
VERYGOOD I FROM THAILAND
