If people are losing steering while driving this should be a safety recall.
I am having this problem and I just ordered a new steering rack. I'm going to change it out and program the computer with a Launchpad. Hopefully this fixes the issue and makes it reliable again I will post about it after I complete.
*Ford has a 1.1 Million Recalls for this, Check your Vin number if your car is covered*

Were you experiencing intermittent power steering failure? and what model of focus do you have. My 2012 Ford Focus SEL was experiencing intermittent power steering failure, i was able to turn my car off then back on and it would now. I'm I'm afraid the power steering is out.

Cathryn Ramirez you need to replace the power steering rack, not the fuse. They all have issues. 2012 was a bad year. They got better after that.

I got a Ford Focus Mk3 w/ 1.6Ti-VCT engine, i had issues with its voltage and its shows a DTC code U3003- lost communication w/ generator A and a DTC code U0131- Lost communication w/ power steering control module A. i can clear the U3003 code but the U0131 kept coming back everytime i finish clearing those codes with ForScan. any tips advice that can help clearing this code? my car's voltage also kept flactuating especially on high load (lights on and AC on).

hello I loved your videos, please orient me how you fixed your car, i'm from Brazil, small town nobody knows how to fix it, which part was defective as it did to fix it, i have mercedes c class 180, kompressor i have the same problem, mercedes, do not turn on the headlights and no turn off the flashlights, only the right side is accessible, to disconnect you have to remove the battery Thank you for your help

Hey everyone I have found sometimes simply removing a fuse for maybe less than one minute and putting it back in restores whatever it is that’s not getting enough power ,sometimes you do not actually have to replace the fuse.

I never received a failure code or any at that. Should I try to just switch the fuse before taking it in? When I turn the wheel of my car it makes a grinding noise and the steering wheel is a little stiff & I get a mild squealing noise when I start my car.

I had to replaces rpinion on mine, because it was blowing the fuses, so i did, still shows the message on dash, but not blowing the fuses, do i have to get it calibrate and reset??

I just replaced my EPS fuse on my 2014 Escape even though the steering is back and the error message is gone on my dash im still a little paranoid to drive it so my question is what would cause my fuse to blow and lose my power steering?
Too much current causes the fuse to burn out. It could be because there is something wrong with your electrics, and you need to get your alternator or your battery checked.

Hey, man! My focus has voice comands trooubles? Do you know what is happening?
Sync sucks… not 100% on the focus, but my fusion has a big wiring clip under the center console… disconnect and reconnect usually fixes any sync issues I have. The sync module runs directly next to the hand brake

Hi I have ford focus 1.6 navigator Diesel 2014 .its making a squeak noise,got checked the car no brake pads no discs required but noise is still there.when I released the clutch on first gear it make squeak noise under the car clutch is perfectly fine.
There is no sign for power streeing but got checked again from different machanic and he is saying its power streeing noise even though power streeing perfectly working

Have same problem. It’s the steering rack, it’s all electric, so you won’t see anything out of the ordinary from outside. Steering rack and clutch are sh1tyyyy on this car /year

Today my 2013 focus SE came up w a steering assist fault...after turning it off and back on the fault went away and was driveable. Do i need to replace the fuse? I also see there used to be a recall for this...not sure if the dealership will cover this or not if there is.
Did you ever figure it out? My car did the same thing a week ago and I've been to scared to drive it.😂 I seen how it had a recall come out in 2015 for it, but the dealership says my car don't have a recall for it..
@@rachelwolf2045 yaaaa...it locked up at work...the whole rack had to be replaced bc the electronic motor is apart of the rack system...the motor itself can NOT be replaced. Ford knows this is a problem yet refuses to do anything about it. My car had 41k miles on it and Ford had the balls to say yaaa it happens to cars w less miles then that....smdh. They quoted me just under 2k to repair it...$1200 for the rack...600 for labor and then another 80 to 100 for a front end alignment. They won't run a recall bc these bad racks go out all the time and cause serious accidents that THEY don't want to be liable for.
IF you car is doing this... Do NOT drive it. You can fix it and then have it go out at 65mph and you will lose control of your vehicle...hint hint...you will be responsible for such an accident. Get it to the shop or a good local mechanic.
HINT...detroit axle makes these replacement racks for under $300...will ship it to you for FREE and...come with a lifetime warranty 😉

@@rachelwolf2045 hell ya it was cheaper! New rack for my car was 260 and i pd the mechanic 300 for the install 😉 excuse the expression but...fuck Ford! Ill never buy another Ford product. I knew months ago something was wrong w the front end/trany...i begged them to look at it...they refused.
My car has been to their dealership 4x this yr for trany and front end issues which they repeatedly said...nothing was wrong w it. Its been in 3 adtl times for recalls. Fords are pieces of shit!
@@rachelwolf2045 if you google Ford steering accidents...you will be blown away by all the reports...theres hundreds of them. Also ck out car complaints.com....i believe thats a whole website where pple have posted about the steering fault issues and accidents as well.

There is no power steering fluid. It is electric
I have a 2010 Ford Fusion and the steering wheel locks up every few days and the dashboard flashes and shows "Power Steering Assist Fault". This is a scary thing as I don't want it to lock up when I am driving. Ford recalled 2011, 2012 Ford fusions for this problem but not 2010 model. I would be thankful if you could offer some tips and suggestions to fix it.
I have Fusion sister, the 2010 mercury milan. Had same issue you had and now it finally bricked. In the moring I will check the fuse.
If it locks up while driving, you’re usually prettt safe…. It’s jarring no doubt, but no powersteering is tolerable if you’re moving at a solid 10mph or up…. It’s the advance trac that is really dangerous…. Once tour EPAS fails completely, your traction control is gone too… not very ideal if you’re in an area hit with snow
@@drumkid330 I don't understand. How will I be safe it locks up while driving - wouldn't that be a extremely dangerous thing? It is not covered under warranty and most auto mechanics are saying that they will charge around $1800 to fix it. My car is now only worth around $3500 so how can spend $1800 to get it fixed.
@@JM-qd1jh “locking up” was a poor choice of words on my end…. They don’t lock up, you just lose the power assist… It sucks ass when your stationary, but once you start moving just a little, it gets way easier to move the wheel…
My bigger concern is advancetrac failure at the same time. As not having traction control could be way more dangerous…
Advance trac and EPAS are on the same fuse, mine blew after a flat tire fix, so I’m guessing I have a wheel sensor issue…. Explore your options before you go through with the dealers recommendation to have it replaced…. A lot of times, it’s not the steering gear, it’s an electrical fault
@@JM-qd1jh the internals of the electric steering rack are inaccessible without some great welding skills, however anything other potential problem on the exterior should totally be part of the troubleshooting process:… I’ll sell my car for the $1800 it costs for a new rack… way before I’d ever pay for a system that WAS under recall at one point and should be free.
