I’ve been there and it just effects all aspects of your life, it’s a little more difficult to be positive in everyone situation but it pays of in the long run and generally makes life a lot more enjoyable 💪

Im ex Royal Navy but my son joined the signals, AT is a huge element in the Army, He been ocean diving in the Red Sea, Ice Wall climbing in Canada, Skied for his regiment, done his MTLB quals and spend months taking other regiment guys up into the Brecons, opportunities are out there guys you just need the balls to grab them !!
I'm joining the signals, start my training in November. I cannot wait. As you said the opportunities are there, just need to get in there and make the most of life! Just hope this Covid stuff will bugger off soon 😂

Six months later after basic and posted Germany, got selected for the JNCO and had a stripe 6 weeks later. About year goes by and he's away on SCBC 1, Fullscrew crossed rifles at 27, rest is just history. Stay frosty.

Yea it is the Army have a few teams in the martial arts disciplines, from BJJ to judo. Your chosen Regiment or Unit May also have small teams. If not, you have the time to train and be involved with sport.

So regards to the medical side of things it can be such a touchy subject and I’m obviously not a doc so I don’t want to give you any wrong info. I feel your pain as your not the only one who has dramas with the medical, but only bit of unofficial advice would be to not tell them anything unless your asked. They seem to defer people for broken finger nails, so I would just be over cautious on what you say. Obviously if you’ve got a serious condition don’t try and hide that .

Hello, I’ve recently passed the assessment centre to get into basic training, I’m not exactly the lightest I weigh about 93kg. All I want to ask is do you ever see lads my weight pass their basic training
If I was you I would try and drop a stone ,you never mentioned your height so I’m guessing your a we bit heavy,basic training will mean you lose at least 2 stone anyway but if you go in as unfit it’s a lot harder to keep up,good luck with your career,I did 12 in the Scots Guards and enjoyed every day,well almost.
Some decent reply’s here before me, but in short yes mate. There’s all sorts of heights and body shapes that will be in your platoon. I wouldn’t get hung up on not being the fastest as everyone has their strengths and the small fast people will soon be looking to you for motivation during the long range patrols or walking with weight on. Especially when it comes to casualty extraction training during exercise. As long as you can meet whatever results you need to for your role you’ll be fine. You’ll have more time in unit to take on different training programs to build muscle or rip up etc. Basic training is just about me fit for all the activities you’ll be going through, PTIs get you ready for them. You will be taught everything 💪

And say there is not going to be many more kinetic ops, although it may sound taboo I would be "exited" ( can't think of a better word, might sound a bit shitty of me but I cant think of a word, and "exited" is sort of close), and I think people get the impression that's a frowned upon thing to say, but why did you join ? (Infantry especially) I think most people join a combat role for the purpose of going on ops, when your 16-18, right?

Passed my assessment on Wednesday with flying colours, trying to join Royal Engineers but my school results my hold me back, looking at joining the infantry if that falls through.
@@js.a1183 if I had a banana or two before the run, I would have gotten Para scores 11.6. I got to 10.7 but I started getting a cramp in my thigh, but I passed so thats all that really matters. It wasn't so bad, you get 3 warnings per a level, the instructors motivate you, they help you set pace and they encourage you to push yourself. Without them I would have probably stopped at 9.7.
I’ve got AC on the 11th of November haven’t been doing the bleep test but been doing my 2km runs at 8:29 would I need to switch to the bleep instead of the runs?
@@js.a1183 I would reccomend swopping to bleep tests instead of regular runs maybe. The bleep is harder than a regular run because of the stop and start aspect.
Any tips for someone who wants to join as a combat medical technican? I have some first aid civie qualifications and I real interest in let more, All I've wanted to do since I was a kid was join the Army, I struggled to find my speciality,untill civilian jobs had be learning lots of first aid,I thought combat medical technican would be perfect,I love helping pt,have a keen interest in first aid and medical issues,and want.to.be on the frontline helping when and where I can. ,but I'm aware it's unlikely you get your first choice of jobs too. don't know how the army would take to a female C.M.T. either? I'm small but I lift weights 6 times a week. Any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated!

There be something u like, if not you'll have to eat. When it comes to be deployed or doing training, the food packs have everything u can think of and u can trade them with friends
Functional skills or entry tests? FS I found difficult just because I needed level 2 in both to promote to Sgt and when I took the course I had been out of the education system for like 10 years, so my brain found it hard to get back into that way of learning again lol.
Got ya , so it’s not going to be mental. For me I had to do the Barb test which was just really basic basic questions. It’s changed now and I’ve had no exposure to it, to give you detailed advice but honestly it wouldn’t be something to worry about at all mate,

Thankfully times have changed, I’ve got no time for pointless 💩. If it doesn’t enhance operational effectiveness then it’s not worth doing at all.

With videos like this, I think you should make them more general, like you seem to talk about your regiment allot, which is obviously because you can’t speak about what it would be like in different regiments because obviously you’re allot more knowledgeable on your own. But please try to make things more general for people looking for what stuff will be like for just the average crow instead of an Irish ranger. I think his channel is specifically for Infantry and the RI regiment because thats his bread and butter. The knowledge he gives can be transferable and even with this video, 90% of what he said can apply to another regiment 😁

I would just add that never give up ! Keep appealing ! I appealed 2 times and eventually got passed.

So there’s no time for BS. I defo remember standing outside a guardroom all weekend for having a spec of dirt on my boots on a fri 🤦🏻 . Hi mate, first of all well done on the videos, they’ve been a big help to allot of lads including myself, but as someone joining catterick in a few days, who has been scowering TH-cam to see what I’m in for, can I suggest something? With videos like this, I think you should make them more general, like you seem to talk about your regiment allot, which is obviously because you can’t speak about what it would be like in different regiments because obviously you’re allot more knowledgeable on your own. But please try to make things more general for people looking for what stuff will be like for just the average crow instead of an Irish ranger. Not a diss to you or your content at all just a suggestion mate x

I think his channel is specifically for Infantry and the RI regiment because thats his bread and butter. The knowledge he gives can be transferable and even with this video, 90% of what he said can apply to another regiment 😁
