The clockwork Mansion is a fine example of a dev studio going beyond what is expected of them in order to create an interesting, creative and most importantly an immaculately realized level. Kudos Arkane!
Anyone else really love this Dinga Bakaba fellow? From the interviews Noclip makes with him for their documentaries and his Deathloop trailers and chats over at Game Informer, he just seems like such a funny, energetic guy who obviously has a ton of knowledge on and love for Arkane and their systemic games. not gonna lie, I've played these games countless times, never have I thought to actually kill the speaker in the first game. never knew Carrie Fisher did anything at all for Dishonored
This documentary made me realize that developers not only make a game to make a game. They are essentially building a portfolio: can we make a level that's able to transform completely? Yes, cool. Can we make a hub that can be summoned to any point in the level? Yes, we can. It really makes you think about it as a long term progress for a studio rather than long term progress for a specific game....in short, another AMAZING doc guys!
The only game that made me watch every video essay from leadhead, noah caldwell gervais, oboeshoegames, purposeless rabbitholes, eric crosby, and now a doc from Noclip, you guys have no idea how grateful I am for this video.
I gotta say, the Void House feature looked absolutely awesome. I love how you can see collectibles that you’ve acquired, replenish your health and mana, and so on

And then I imagine that Emily enjoys pulling all the levers to see what happens and that she'll probably try to renovate Dunwall-Tower. Or use Jindosh's mansion as her summer palace
I adore these Arkane docs - as much as I would have loved any interview with what is one of my favourite game studios, it's incredibly enjoyable to watch them be interviewed by someone who visibly loves their work. Your passion just makes these documentaries a treat to watch!

And as always you can choose between the lethal and non-lethal approach. This is what i call a 10/10 game!
The insight into how they made these games really makes me appreciate them more... I always knew the creators were really passionate, but it takes heart to make such a great gaming experience and such great ideas...

When he talked about breaking monotonous gameplay, easily my favourite aspect of the Dishonored series is the simplest puzzle solving feel when you've scaped the whole area looking for a different angle and you finally find a way to get your target.
This was excellent. I've never played either of these games for some reason. Definitely going to get them now though. I love how the devs think about their players and the enjoyment of not being forced into scenarios or cut scenes and unnecessary dialogue. Thanks for your work. You produce great content. Stay safe.

I have waited for a year and now I have to wait a bit more, but thank you all at Noclip for the amazing work you guys do and for showing us how everything works inside the industry.
One thing I really would like to hear more about it the architectural design of both cities. Like, they both make sense as actual cities and not just gameplay hubs. Little sluice gates, flood paths, all the sorts of Industrial Era stuff that makes Dunwall and Karnaca both feel like places that have already survived countless catastrophes before the plague and will continue for long after
Thanks so much to Noclip and Arkane for this. The Dishonored series just makes you live in its world, it's not just a series of obstacle courses. It's genius, there's no way around saying it.

When he talked about breaking monotonous gameplay, easily my favourite aspect of the Dishonored series is the simplest puzzle solving feel when you've scaped the whole area looking for a different angle and you finally find a way to get your target.
Stuck reading text? Little did he know I read every note I found the second I found it with pure joy hehehe
This was excellent.
I've never played either of these games for some reason. Definitely going to get them now though. I love how the devs think about their players and the enjoyment of not being forced into scenarios or cut scenes and unnecessary dialogue.
Thanks for your work. You produce great content. Stay safe.
Do play them man! These games are easily one of the most amazing and unique experiences I had in the last two decades in gaming. Even if you´re not a hardcore FPS fan, wich I am, this really is special.
One of my favorite game franchises of all time.
💯
I was just raving to my brother the other day about those particular 2 levels in Dishonored 2 so this documentary is perfect timing. Great work as always Danny!
why dose the thumbnail say: "the making of Dish Red"? whatever it means, I am touched.
I have waited for a year and now I have to wait a bit more, but thank you all at Noclip for the amazing work you guys do and for showing us how everything works inside the industry.
Noclip: I guess it's time for you to low chaos + high chaos the entire series again?
Me: Yes honey...
One thing I really would like to hear more about it the architectural design of both cities. Like, they both make sense as actual cities and not just gameplay hubs. Little sluice gates, flood paths, all the sorts of Industrial Era stuff that makes Dunwall and Karnaca both feel like places that have already survived countless catastrophes before the plague and will continue for long after
Hahaha, the "you're under 30 fps" guy 😂
Where is it?
@@winstonsmith3703 It occasionally pops up on the bottom right when they're showing footage of work-in-progress builds.
Masterpieces - both the game and the documentary. Both have a special place in my heart. Thank you
Rip arkane Austin
Thanks so much to Noclip and Arkane for this. The Dishonored series just makes you live in its world, it's not just a series of obstacle courses. It's genius, there's no way around saying it.
*sigh* Look at the level of thought and intricate detail the developers invested into these projects. This is just amazinh. It's a damn shame that these games didn't sell any better than they did. :(
I often listen to these while I do chores around the house, couldn't this one bc of subtitles. Not trying to complain just giving feedback
Thanks for everything Noclip has become!
This made me want to try out dishonored honestly
You should, the series is a work of art :)
Makes me want to try Dishonored 2 again, but I generally quit after an hour because some stupid guard sees me through the tiniest gap and eveything goes to shit and the game turns into reload simulator...
Be sure to have time on your hand... some of the very best gaming time of your life.
@@Texelion The first level of D2 can be quite frustrating because you don't have any power. Just try to power through it, maybe reduce the difficulty a bit, and by Mission 2, you can just use Blink or Far Reach to go to higher places in order ro avoid guards.
@@minhnguyenle9864 I remember the last time I played D2, I thought - why the hell not, and declined all of The Outsider's powers, played the entire thing without them. Sneaking around, not killing anyone and not having the powers as a safety net - brought back that Thief intensity and I loved it.
This was fascinating and extremely well put together, thank uu
Love Dishonored and Prey. Hoping to see a doc on Disco Elysium.
Im gathering for whiskeys and cigars tonight, as we watch this documentary
im dreaming of dishonored 3
MAAAN THE VOID HOUSE WOULDVE BEEN AWESOME
Imagine void house in open world dishonored
@@haraldschjlbergevensen4561 Open world dishonored? Do you also want them to add pointless fetch quests and half empty areas just for the sake of them being there? I think you don't understand what makes Dishonored unique and great.
@@changeling9821 yeah, open world dishonored would have been terrible, it will take ages to make the map half decent
@@changeling9821 bruh I have 400+ hrs in D1 and 2 and Doto I think I know what makes them great lol, I dont mean turning into AC, Just more open than the previous ones, that way the void house would serve a purpose, Imagine Dishonored and you’re on the run from the authorities in a famine struck Morley I think it would be cool. Just look at what they’re doing with deathloop. Thats the kind of open world I mean
@@haraldschjlbergevensen4561 Now that you mentioned Deathloop world, I think I understand what you wanted to say. Not the classic open world; but for example, all of the Dishonored levels existing at the same time and influencing each other.
Oh, hey Danny! When I was a kid I used to surf around Gamespot (must have been ~2006?). Always appreciated your views and I'm glad you're making these documentaries now - they're hella interesting.
Noclip knows when to release a video to ruin my productivity! Now all I want to do is ditch work and watch their newest video
I have been watching this channel for years and years, but this is definitely my fave doc so far. Arkane are just such a unique team. Getting a look behind the scenes of one of my fave two games of all time has been a pure delight. Thank you @noclip
"The Clockwork Mansion and Crack in The Slab are like two parts of a watch, one concerning itself with the mechanics of the moving hand and the other with time itself."
I bet that was really satisfying to put on a page. That's some clever writing, gave me a smile.
Man is this a joy when you do these docs, much love, keep it up
These games are such masterpieces in every aspect. Totally genius and innovative and just fun and full of life. The amount of talent and attention to detail is staggering. Can't wait for Deathloop, it's gonna be bomb.
Your documentaries are wonderfully informative. A real delight to see how some of my favourite games see the light of day. Many thanks for producing these.
I had no idea Danny was fluent in French.
I always wondered how they could have good interviews with french speaking person without understanding it.
So, seeing that he, in fact, understands it makes everything clear.
Then why didn't he ask the questions in French?
@@briantreanor960 Might have been because the interviewee understands English, but probably doesn't feel comfortable speaking English just yet.
What I loved so much about this game series is the freedom the places provide despite being a sandbox and as you progress through the game you get to feel that you are supposed to blink to a certain ledge without being pointed out… it just clicks
One of my favorite developers in the Bethesda group.
I get sooo excited whenever I see a new noclip video.
