    When I was little I grew up in an all white school and all I wanted was to have straight hair, so I straightened it to the point where it’s severely damaged. My curls used to be like yours but they were a bit tighter. I’ve been trying to transition but my mom prefers straight hair because it’s more “professional”. When I graduate I’m cutting it all off because like...it’s so bad I’m ashamed to have my hair in anything but braids :(

    Really enjoyed this video. I started my transition to natural about a year and 3 months ago now. It was scary, but very liberating now that I'm used to it, and it cooperates most of the time. Knowing how to do various styles helps with your confidence as well. My curls are getting used to being curly again. I definitely need to get the satin pillow case and work on re-incorporating my weekly deep condition routine. Personally I used only Olive oil for a few hours, and my hair LOVED the olive oil. Much more than the moroccan oil and Shea butter deep conditioners and more I've tried i the past. I'll definitely try the greek yogurt recipe. I loved the tip about putting your hair up in the pineapple at night! I'm definitely going to try that, as well as the regular scalp massaging with essential oils. Im really wanting my hair to grow longer, and I feel like my hair is very slow to grow. This was so helpful!

      Hair grows at different rates on the head, so it may even out on its own, but to be sure it is even you can cut it. I think letting it do its natural thing is pretty smart because that way you aren't cutting a lot of healthy hair.

    Would using a diffuser comb on a blow dryer still cause heat damage? My curls struggle and fall quickly when dried (my hair's super damaged) so we invested in a diffuser to see if it'll help but I'm afraid that it'll cause heat damage too.

    I'm 5 months post relaxer thanks to covid, I've been struggling with how to style without heat, even if I detangle like crazy, I can't air dry because the relaxed portion tangles really badly, I get fairy knots and I can't always safely untangle them without taking some extra pieces with it :( Does anyone have tips on how to tackle this without the blow dryer?

      I am relaxed as well and I have the same problem with air drying. I watched a video here and I found out about "Kinky-Curly Knot Today" it's a detangler and a leave in and its AMAZING!! I bought it for $12 at Walgreens and it was worth it it's all natural ingredients which is great! I use it before and after on wash days. I hope this helped💜💜

      I'm going through same thing- and I had do many relaxers and perms and I always straightened my hair but now I'm transitioning. Best way to gain your curls back is to basically just completely cut out the heat- I mean no type of heat at all. And find a routine, look for products for low porosity ( Shea Moisture has a good line). On top of that like she mentioned, make sure you really take care of it at night. I would twist it, braid it n keep it in a satin scarf, then get some braids/weave etc. Do this for some months and your hair will flourish! **Also remember to trim your ends monthly or however, just keep a timeline so you don't trim it irregularly :)

      Hi bby I totally get that, low/high buns, high ponytails, half up half Downs, French braids, and wigs are all great protective styles :) any low-manipulation style that takes minimal effort that essentially tucks your hair away is a great choice

    i had a semi big chop in the beginning of september (i had waist length hair and now it is just above shoulder length) my hair was never relaxed or chemically treated, just heat styled, so i thought maybe i would start seeing some difference or growth. it's just really tiring wearing my hair in a bun every day. it also doesn't help that my whole family is very disapproving of my transition because of the culture where I live and straight hair being considered beautiful. i'm just writing this because i am kinda frustrated by how little progress i've made (feels like none, since i can see absolutely no growth at my roots) and need some help. i have looked all over the internet for curly hair and transitioning videos but most things won't work for me. protective styles like braids seem great but aren't really an option for me because i do ballet. its really inconvenient because of the strict rules and dress codes and we NEED to wear a neat bun every day. okay now i'm just rambling. if anybody has any more tips, please help me!
    thanks!

      heyy! i chopped off certain sections at a time. like first the sides then some of the top. not the point, i deep condition once every 2 weeks or once a week. but regularly, i shower and condition then de tangle in the shower and once i rinse i leave a lot of water in so it’s easy to style put the shower. then i smooth in leave in, NOT RAKE bc that causes frizz for me then put in a ponytail and use a denman brush for the ends and finger coil the ends then scrunch with gel

    • @laurscurls
      @laurscurls  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It really wasn’t that hard considering a couple of months meant 6+ (maybe I should have clarified that better in the video!! My apologies) I’m sure factors such as genetics and diet come into play, but I have not seen so much growth until I started doing my scalp massage regimen. I have multiple pictures on my Instagram to show my growth over the few months around the time this video was made if you’re interested!
