    You obviously have a lot of experience working in this field and your experience translates into a very easy-to-follow practical tutorial. I usually become bored or disinterested within the first few minutes of a tutorial, however, I was attentive all the way through and look forward to more of your videos. I would definitely recommend it to others.

      Thank you!! I so appreciate that. I've only just started putting these tutorials together so It's nice to hear that it's resonating with people. My goal is to create one every week, in fact I just posted another one today on how to create a breakdown in scriptE. However, I know many of you don't use scriptE so I'm creating another one on how to create it in a spreadsheet. So stay tuned for more videos to come.

      Thank you so much! I'm so glad it helped. Just know, at the moment I'm in the middle of Beta testing the new version of ScriptE for iPad and there are some really great additions to this version. As soon as it's out I'll do another video on how to download a script because buttons are moved around a little bit and doing a breakdown has become much more easier and detailed. It also has integrations to do notes when your crossboarding with other episodes. I'm still learning that myself because that would have been hugely helpful when I was working on This Is Us because of all the flashbacks we had. So stay tuned!

    This is so informative. Thank you. I have been a script supervisor for over 12 years and I am now ready to move from paper and pen entry to Script E(it has been daunting but your videos have given me confidence). I have successfully imported my Script but I can't seem to add participants.

      Congratulations Nancy! That is a huge step. I remember when I did the transition. It's like learning all over again. I'm so glad the videos are helpful. Question: what version are you using? Tony just launched the new version 3. Are you working off of that version? To find out click the Configure button on the upper left side and it will say what version it is on the upper right corner.

    Great video Monica, very informative and well explained in a down-to-earth manner which I think people will really appreciate. Your second career could be in teaching if you ever have time between Script Supervising gigs.

      Aww thank you so much! I'm about to put out another one on how to create a Script Supervisor breakdown. I actually love teaching, I remember when I first started I didn't have a lot of support, so this is my way of giving back.

    Thanks, Monica! I'm just getting back into the business after a long while and I'm thinking about going digital. So far, this program seems relatively user friendly. I'm looking forward to more videos.

      Yes, people are a bit intimidated by it because they feel it’s complicated but really it’s not. I’m just finishing up with a “What is a Script Supervisor “ video. The next one will be on how to start a shooting day on the program. Going digital will make your life so much easier. And with this program you won’t have to draw lines, which was one of my biggest annoyances.

      @@scriptimonicaonset thank you! I’m hoping to get up to speed in May and if there’s a free trial of SciptE, I will definitely try it :-)

      @@ge8066 A big part of why I wanted to create these videos is because they don't offer a free trial, and there really aren't any videos out there on how the program works. So a lot of people don't know what it's capable of. I really love the program because everything can be done at the touch of a button. So these videos will start to show you how it works. Your feedback is very important to help me navigate what videos to put out there that will answer your questions. Thank you.

    Hi Monica! The ScriptE program caused me a ton of angst and stress which led to a total lack of confidence. I prefer pen and paper but in my quest to create my own forms, I discovered Movie Slate 8 which I think is amazing. I am truly loving your videos, and am going to watch with hopes that maybe you'll be able to help me break this barrier..I even took a course with Anthony Pettine! LOL!.....Take Care and thank you for sharing your expertise with all of us

    • @scriptimonicaonset
      @scriptimonicaonset  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh Tanya! I know exactly where your coming from. When I first got the ScriptE program I was already a seasoned Script Supervisor but I was so intimidated by it that for the first 2 years I only did my breakdowns on it because it was soo easy and so much more efficient than doing it on a spreadsheet. One day I was forced into using it for a show because the script supervisor I was doing 2nd unit for insisted I use it for the show. Well for the first 2 days I used paper and pencil AND the ScriptE program for iPad at the same time and by the 3rd day I had ditched the script. Don't give up. In fact I'm helping Tony Beta test the new version of ScriptE for iPad and it looks AMAZING. We're working out the bugs now but I would stick to your pen and pencil until this new version comes out. I'm holding off on doing any more videos for ScriptE until it's out to the public.
      My next video will be on the forms that you need to turn in and those will be for pen and pencil because I feel you should know how to use pen and pencil first before moving on to a digital program. Unless your doing your breakdowns. At least use scriptE for the breakdowns then you can transition to using it on set for your notes. The lack of confidence is because you still have to get comfortable doing your job as a Script Supervisor. It took me minimum 4 years before I was even a little comfortable doing the job. So put that on top of learning a new program can be overwhelming. I hope this helps. Hit the subscribe button and the bell for when that new video comes out on forms. And check out the other ones on Pencil and Paper.

      @@scriptimonicaonset ..Thank you Monica! I'm actually confident in my abilities while on set....Have even had the director ask me my opinions and talk to actors. My background started out on stage and then on camera, so I'm pretty familiar with what transpires behind and in front of the camera. Tony actually showed me how I can easily share my MovieSlate 8 notes with ScriptE users so the transition is a smooth one and both platforms can be used. I think what also causes me stress is the amount of glitches that SE seems to encounter.
      Regardless, I wish that SS's wouldn't demand other SS's who are SE proficient only to fill in for them, as I know many SS with over 20+ years experience who still function perfectly without that program.
      I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos though!! Thank you so much for taking the time to produce these for us. 🙂

      Yes I know what you mean. After finished me last show of 6 years I got so used to using the ScriptE program I had to learn to adapt to other formats. You learn how to get around it. I got the same thing with other people using other programs. As soon as they heard I used ScriptE they said oh but I need someone to use X program. Even after I told them I could adapt to theirs. Where there is a will theres a way. We have to be flexible and realize that our way isn't the only way.

    Thank you Monica. This was a very detailed and helpful tutorial. If a participant leaves the show or no longer requires downloads of certain forms what would I do?

    • @scriptimonicaonset
      @scriptimonicaonset  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mark, thank you for watching. Well, you can do a couple of things. One you can go to that participant and check off the box of the form they don't want. Or if the person no longer is working on the show, you can slide the participant's file to the left and click delete. The other option is, if that person may be coming back but they don't want the forms sent to them at that time, you can just click off all the boxes but still leave them there so that when they return you can just click them back on.

    Thanks so much. I'm just new to ScriptE and the newest version will not allow me to upload a PDF and suggests getting a different format from Production. I'm confused and would love some insight.

      Hi Alex, well the new version hasn’t come out yet but even with the new version it’s not with the program it’s with the PDF. It’s the way it was formatted. Or it might be locked. See if you could get a final draft version to download.

    Hi Monica! Thank you for this easy tutorial on how to upload a script into ScriptE. I am running into an issue where I upload my script but the page other than the page number is blank. I have done some research and can’t figure out why. Do you know?

      A PDF

    • @scriptimonicaonset
      @scriptimonicaonset  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      PDF's can be tricky. If there is anyway you can get a FD version that is the best way but if not sent the file to Tony Pettine by clicking the Tech Support button in the lower left corner of the file and send tell him the issue your having. You might want to put Urgent in the subject line so he sees it. He's working on a job right now and he's pretty busy. But you should get a answer from him.
