Been watching your channel for a long time now and one thing that you have taught any new beginner or novice player is to ignore anyone who says 'those/that amp is crap'.! It's what you do with it and how you dial it in that matters.
I have to agree 💯 pick attack, attitude, intonation, Johan makes me want to obtain every piece of gear he touches, but I should probably just practice with a metronome lol
I have the brown carpet red knob of this and it has such a good reverb with the distortion, I’m fairly certain it can be heard at the end of the song “show me your soul”
I own one of those. The crunch channel is the secret to the best guitar tone I ever heard John Frusciante put to tape: The guitar solo in "I Could Have Lied"
These were cool little amps, I remember them. They along with other "red knob" transistor amps like the Deluxe 85, the smaller R.A.D.and the M80 series all had a great sound but many didn't pass the test of time. Great demo and playing, thanks for sharing Johan and have a great weekend!
This was my first amp. It doesn't have gain and eq knobs. It had limited me for many years so I certainly have no love for it. I still have it, with a couple of broken jack inputs. I tried it as a cab with a smaller practice amp I have. Removed the spring tank, local audio technician made it into a separate reverb unit, that thing is broken by now as well.
I still have the Fender R.A.D. I got when I started playing. It’s built in distortion, on its own, never sounded great through its little 8” speaker, but it was decent if you managed to hook it up to something bigger. Pedals sound great through the clean modes, and an overdrive into the crunch mode is pretty nice. There are nicer SS amps out there, but this video goes to show that any amp is a useful tool for a talented player.
I had no idea that this amp existed. Thanks for showing. Love your playing. If I may ask… what guitarists have inspired your style and approach? Cheers!
My first amp was the R.A.D. version of this amp; I still have it. Isn't there an interview with Frusciante somewhere that says he liked it because it sounded like a broken piece of trash?
It is, just the covering is different. In fact, the R.A.D. amp is also the same circuit, but lacks reverb and has smaller speaker (8 inch instead of 10). There was also J.A.M. 1x12 combo, which also had identical circuit with both reverb and chorus.
@@JohanSegeborn You also. My wife is Swedish, we can't always understand each other if not speaking English, little strange. Not formally educated in Dansk, just learned it from morfar. Sorry if I spell things incorrectly.
@@n.senada how can you tell it's the fender HOT amplifier on the guitar solo I could have lied, because it sounds like any stock amplifier nothing different
It’s not the gear that makes you good. It’s the practice. Any master can make garbage gear sound good. A Marshall JMP isn’t going to make you play any better. But some gear may inspire you. Thanks for the videos

Yeah indeed! There is so many ways to hit the mark! Most of which are actually pretty affordable
Proof positive a good player can make anything sound good. I’m not that good, so I can’t get this out of the best amp, but Johan has magic hands.
Thanks man that’s kind of you
@@JohanSegeborn Thank you. You have inspiring talent.

That thing is a beast! Takes no prisoners!
Thanks! Glad to hear it
Never ever seen any of these ... thanks a lot for sharing
Thanks!
Didn't know such an amp existed,
What a surprise!
Yeah that on has really flown under the radar

Great all around, but I loved the clean tone. I never tire of Ramble On.
Thanks Eddie! Yeah it has a really nice compression on the clean channels
Johan is great, but I can't believe how much I like this amp!!!
I've never heard a non awesome tone on this channel
Thanks Scott! Great to hear that!
Always wanted to try that amp. Interesting video! :)

I believe he also used a Fender Jaguar for that solo.
@@bumblefritz definitely
Some AcDc in there Johan!! Kickass video as usual brother!
Thanks glad you noticed!
Aloha Johan! I remember seeing them around. I walked by them, because they weren't a tube amp. The thing you don't realize. Mahalo Johan.
Mahalo Victor!

Thats an good amp, no matter if it was a cheap non tube.
Thanx for the demo Johan.
Snygga riff dessutom. 👍
Great to hear that! Tackar så mycket!
Nobody knew this amp existed, but after your video the price had already skyrocketed :D

Cool!
Pretty sure he played the solo on mellowship with this amp!
Really interesting!
100%! I made a video about the Fender HOT amp and the Mellowship solo! th-cam.com/video/zsttgh93ckI/w-d-xo.html
I still cant get over the fact that bro uses an iPhone for voice recording LOL
Love ya vids Johan as always!!!
Thanks man! 😆
I have one. Bought it new when it came out.
After all these years I honestly think there is no such a thing as Marshall tone, but there is such a thing as Marshall hands, as to say.
Hi Daniel! Yeah playing style is certainly much more important than equipment
I had no idea that this amp existed. Thanks for showing. Love your playing. If I may ask… what guitarists have inspired your style and approach?

Thanks glad you like it! I love Ace Frehley, Tony Iommi, Jimmy Page and many more players of that era. Cheers!

push any 2 buttons in at the same time for far more fun!
Nice, but you should try it with a Strat... 😅

I wonder which RHCP Songs John Frusciante used this Fender HOT amplifier on and why did he use it?
Yeah, that would be interesting indeed, I think a guy had some suggestions further down in the thread.
Some saïd I Could Have Lied solo.
I Could Have Lied solo
Under The Bridge intro
They’re Red Hot
Mellowship solo
The Greeting Song solo
"I Could Have Lied" solo definitely
@@n.senada how can you tell it's the fender HOT amplifier on the guitar solo I could have lied, because it sounds like any stock amplifier nothing different
Okay, I get it, you can make good gear sound good. You should do a video about BAD TONES with expensive gear, so people understand the difference.
thats hot ...
Jörn Frusciante
😆yeah that’s the correct pronunciation at Hisingen island.

Im gonna start saying Yawn frusciante as well
Hahaha! My pronunciation is as usual off target
Bah, Fender's best solidstates came out during the Rivera era
Yeah those were amazing amps
sounds like a h.o.t. mess LOL
better on neck tho and probably even better on a strat.
That’s good right?
Very 60s rock tone! Especially with the spring reverb.
Thanks!
Sounds like a cheap plastic amp. Nothing to Go for.
Everything is relative of course. But I really think this one punches way above its weight.
@@JohanSegeborn Therefore I love my Champ 12 re Knob.
so like ... wheres this affordable, cant find one anywhere. Is it basically 5 watts more than the R.A.D. but the same? looks to be similar at least...
