    Yes dude! We need to stop the whole "Respecting the bass player intentions" thing. Drum players never did,They always improvised fills and stuff. For example,Look at Estepario Sibiriano. The reason he is so famous,Is that he added his own charm to the music he played. I think bass players should do that too. "Oh,The original bassist is playing with fingers" So what? If you are more comfortable with using a pick..So use it. What is the point of being a carbon copy of the original musician? That means every single one is going to be the same. BUT...saying all that...I might be very biased cause I normally listen and play Jazz instead of Rock or Metal...And Jazz is a very improvised genre lol It's almost impossible to find someone who is a carbon copy of another player.
