LOVE IT 😂🤌 proud moment seeing my mug in one of your videos 🥹 Know how you feel about trying to show the shine on TH-cam, showing the true colour and the pearls can be so damn tricky too 😩 loved the video and bike, Craig! There’s still that purple/black step through DB Outlook for sale here, $14nzd 😅
I just bought two old mountain bikes for 25 bucks each. Iron Horse. One small, one large. They had barely been used and had been hung in a garage for 30 years. Entry level bike shop bikes so they had quick release wheels (Japanese made) and seats. Washed them, new seats, greased the bearings, lubed cables, chain, derailures and shifters, aired up tires, indexed gears. All in for less than 100 bucks. Now I have two spare bikes for visitors. These are the smoothest shifting 3x7 drive trains I've ever ridden.😁
For the badge 🛡 oil slick is definitely one if not already and colour Gradient blue into silver, blue into orange is very cool makes no sense but its cool for blue n orange bike's yeti blue's and a kashima coat hue
Just wanted to pop in to let you know I really enjoy your channel! Like the variety of bikes you work on. Would love to see the cargo bike every now and again! Ordered a couple of the diner style stickers, they’re pretty sweet looking.
Regarding the matter of headset bearings I was once told the exact opposite 😂 Switch switch them around to increase the bearing life . Really looking forward to this build, frame looks awesome 👌🏼 Keen on how you solve the one by drivetrain
As a automotive painter the grit you are talking about in the polish is actually sand lol just thought I’d let you know that’s and the heat from the rag is how it actually cuts the scratches out ( if you are doing this challenge and don’t want to buy polish toothpaste works too just not as well )
Good video moving on to part 2. I got inspired to work on ny peugeot altitude bike now. Would be cool if you mention and show what tools you need and use while working thanks👍
Great start and hilarious toasty feature...! Will give my 2 cents on the budgetbuildoff as well and throw in my current univega raw metal build soon...
Love the video and the budget idea. I'm actually in the middle of my own budget build and my first video series on TH-cam. Hopefully I can make it as good as yours eventually
Oh man! Taking me way back with the DB Traverse! My first "real" mountain bike. I rode the heck out of in the late 90's in college. Brought it home and left it at my parents house where it was ransacked by some meth heads before my folks bulldozed the property. Pouring one out for that old frame.....
Loving your channel Craig. Discovered during a bout of Covid. You’ve inspired me to acquire a Raleigh Ascender for the princely sum of £17. Very unused in its 30 years, but now realise it’s pretty low spec. Is it worth a low cost refurb, or should I have gone for that Diamond Back Outlook instead?
Going from 3x to 1x, likely reason for not using the BB, a bit long on the drive side ,but heh, for a second there I thought you were going to use the coka cola as a cleaning agent!!? A very honest price accountability too sir, non of this find pro parts in the bin GCN stuff! Tyres make or brake a bike so all sounding very solid. Looking good but the budget is going to be interesting, I always spend more!!
Yo Craig, how do you budget for these bike builds generally? If every other build isn’t “budget” what’s the cost? Do your children go hungry so you can throw some new Shimano stuff on old bikes?
My train of thought for every “cheap bike” build I start: “I need a cheap frame to mount all the extra components I have laying around- these LX components will be fine”. Which eventually turns into “This build totally needs a full XTR groupset” 🤦♂️
The clip of toasty was hilarious.
Thanks for the shout mate! Frame looks so clean, gotta love those 90s paint jobs
Cheers dude!!

Can’t wait to see how they all turn out, especially stoked to see a Klunker that Ben is doing 😍
Thanks for lending me your Mug to use 😂 it’s coming along well! Super excited to see everyone’s!! 🙌🏼
If it wasn’t gunna cost £1M to get that step throu to the UK I’d buy it 😂
Hi luv your motto "save old bikes" - agree 305%. The shine on that diamond back is illustrious 🇦🇺

Talking of budget, that video just cost me £9 in stickers!!! 😂
Build looking good.
I just got that chrome hat and it’s bright at night! 🧑🚀 can see it.
“Picked up for a box and a handy” hahahaha! Dead.
More save old bikes stickers please!

Looks good so far. T-cut is a game changer just brings that extra bit of lift to the bike especially on an old frame. Nice work 👍

I had the same thought, kinda like rotating car tires around
Speaking of unfinished projects . . . . Would love to see the Minute Cargo finished! I wanted one for ages.
That toasty feature was everything!! Best wishes from the U.S. 🩷👋🏼
I have a similar Diamond Back Traverse in burgundy and black 😊

Toasty is feeling toasty!

Loved this video, Craig! Can't wait for the next one.
Purple and Green for the shield stickers please! Points for sparkly bits.
Great start. Looking forward to next week's video.
Nice work! This'll be a gooder

beach cruiser to touring bike build

What gloves do you use? Can you send a link?
You didn't re-use the BB because of chainline I used a 42t one from Amazon that included the BB for $50 US
BINGO!! 🥳
Do you have an amazon link ?? Thanks

My local bike shop used coca cola to free some seized headset cups on a road bike of mine years ago!

Currently working on a '83 road bike. Mostly restoration, very little modification. Cost of bike was $50, and $50 for parts. Does that count?
i buy your grease can -let it loke like an ipa bear ;)
A british Spindatt? I subscribe 😅
