- Today we build a parts bin bike with a twist. I get to use the parts bin of a frame builder who has built many show bikes!!
The stAyTB project is the first of our mid life crisis town bike series and consists of a frame, fork, bullmoose bars, day rack, wheels, headbadge and other bits and bobs all beautifully and somewhat singularly fillet brazed and fashioned in Leytonstone, East London. Very much in reverence and homage to the best of 80’s offroad, All Terrain, ‘mountainbike’ style that gets us here at Stayer so stoked about handmade bikes and making stuff to ride for fun and to feel good.
Rare as hens teeth, filet of fish; a nice bike indeed and more than ample steed for the supermarket shred and the practicalities of being a cross country leg-end confined to the mortal realm of human cycling and just casually shredding the shiz out of nipping down the shops.

Nice one, love the frame! The tall stack of orange spacers is too much for my taste. Maybe alternate them with silver ones. And I'm pretty sure, the perfectionist in you will want to change the stem again at some point 😜

Tiny suggestion: make the spacers mostly black with 2 skinny orange ones evenly spaced between them.
The orange hubs make me very happy a great way to start the day . Also I get a lot of comments on the advisory decal of yours on my bike
Hi Craig the skill involved and quality of that new frame is obvious, however in terms of quality and reliability aluminium Taiwanese frames cannot be beaten.

Right choice in stem colour but get a Hope on there, same for the seat post... From a fellow Stayer owner!
I’ve built myself 2 sets of wheels with Hope hubs (Pro 2 and Pro 4) on HED Belgium rims and oh my do I love those hubs!

Beautiful build. I feel like there needs to be silver somewhere up front, either stem spacers or flip it so black spacers and silver stem. I look forward to more of the Stayer and how it matures in your ownership. Can't wait for more Kona UTE!

You should not put grease on rubber. If that Hope headset's sealing ring was rubber or butyl rubber, you should use silicone grease to lubricate it because ordinary grease rots rubber. Conversely, if it was silicone rubber you would use normal grease.

I’m not too sure I’m a fan of the steam punk look. I prefer clean neat looking joins, preferably with beautiful lugs.
But hey, it’s not my bike and therefore not my choice.
End result looks good though and I’m sure a cool ride.
