Dr. Duff. I've watched almost every Seth Godin interview since 2014. You could say fan is an understatement. This interview is one of the top ones. Thanks!
"One day soon the person you are hoping to become is going to meet the person you are." Such a powerful meaning behind this quote. Overall, this was truly a motivating interview and the way Seth delivered his message, he truly seems to be an amazing person who genuinely cares about the work he does. Thank you Robert for recording this interview. 😊
This is a fantastic interview. I’ve heard Seth Godin’s name for years but was never compelled to educate myself about his work. I’m stingy with my time and attention; but, it’s obvious I’ve been missing out here. Thank you for sharing this, Dr. Duff. It’s one of those podcasts that I didn’t want to end.
I've listened to many interviews with Seth Godin and this one has so many valuable tokens in it. I'm sure if I watch this interview two or three more times I would find even more information each time I watch it.
This is superb, thank you both. I'm only 6 mins in and nailing so many things I've intuited, learned and implemented at 58 - not necessarily the near-death experience, but valuing the death of loved family and friends for the reminder to live, also generosity, thoughts about words and talking and of course Pema Chodron. Much love.😊
Thank you for sharing. I had a very similar experience of fortunate to still be here today. I believe that is the drive inside of me to maximize the most I can. Thank you for sharing. Keep on shining
FYI: If you don’t put your O2 mask on first, you soon won’t be coherent enough to help yourself or others (due to hypoxia). The metaphor of aiming for something greater than oneself still holds true (just don’t forget to take care of your own health too).
Yeah, that was a poor choice of analogy. If you don't put your own literal O2 mask on first, you won't be alive long enough to help anyone else do it. I get the point he's making, but yeah, bad analogy. 😂
You guys missed the point. He is saying saving someone else is worth it. Service to others is his ultimate purpose. If he dies saving someone else, it's a life well lived. Sometimes, there's no time to save yourself and someone else. Some people are OK with losing their life saving another.
@@SpaceTrippy_8-8 I think we got his general point; just clarifying the specific example he used. I'm a physician and live a life of service to others (always putting the patient first). I was just pointing out that if that particular situation were to arise on a plane, hypoxia will quickly lead to confusion and an inability to secure anyone's O2 mask correctly. (Whole family dead) Securing your own, allows you to competently secure everyone else's mask. (Whole family survives). My internal tug is who to be generous to. We have 2 children with disabilities and 2 rescue cats. My wife does not work. Resources are slim. I am 100% in service of and provide all my resources to those under my roof. Before I had a family I was able to be generous to people I met in my travels. Just wanted to check in with that struggle.
Be generous to yourself... your heart is in the right place - be kind to yourself first - to everything there is a season - one day when the time is right and you have the resources and ability you can be financially generous to others ..

Social media thrives when people are miserable, lonely and bored. I deleted every social media account I had after the election. I’m suddenly a new person and killing it in all other areas of my life. 90% of people on my social media I realized I’m happy no longer seeing, who cares. I only have TH-cam and podcast for education like this video.
TH-cam is also a form of social media that can play havoc with you mental health too. There’s an algorithm running 24/7 that keeps sending you content along the lines of what you’ve warhead. If you’re a depressed and lonely person, TH-cam will feed you more content along that line. You’d literally need to get rid of your smart phone to avoid “social media”… the online world is always social engineering against you.
