    There is a huge amount of empathy on display here. Thank you Chase for phrasing your prompts and questions for Seth in a way that resonates with how your audience is feeling.

    Wow. The dj reference is perfect! This just hits home. I thought it was going to be regarding a strategy book for my clients but I need it more for myself. Seth, can you just framework my brain for me?

    How do you both know me so well lol. What you talk about is exactly what I was trying to figure out. And knowing my choice to do good content for "myself" rather than doing generic work for the bottom clients is so empowering to me right now! Thanks! :)

    Love this- I have that (e-printed not physical manuscript) book with me now. But sometimes taking ‘wrong' directions when exploring strategy can be great fun too! As you guys demonstrated with the segue into trees! Thank you.

    Here is my question and it’s an honest question: Perhaps I missed it but what about the work that has to be done before developing a strategy, e.g., how does one go about researching what type of business, demographic, etc my product or service would appeal to (this doesn’t apply to obvious choices). For example, that hospital in India, how should they have gone about researching who to market to and what type(s) of marketing would have a chance with who they identified? Seth is one of my favorite authors-I still read The Dip each year and recommend it to others. Sorry for the long post…this discussion is meaningful. Peace.

      The good thing with businesses and companies is that you can re-purpose your resources and re-engineer your model; it’s really about changing your approach and not necessarily what it is you do.

      Appreciate the thoughtful question.
      Suggest getting Seth's new book This is Strategy - good background in there to help answer your question

      @@RichardKusiima Thanks Richard…I’m on that journey now-repurposing and re-engineering over 30yrs experience in a particular field. It has almost amazed me how ideas-freshness- has begun to flow as I opened my mind and began taking the locks off of what was. And as I continue, even the new thoughts are blooming from their first iteration. …the beat goes on…peace and hope.

    Strategy will get there first. Talent will prevail because true talent is resilient and resourceful. You can't take someone's talent away. Strategy is usually a copycat of what others are already doing; like Ai.

    • @RichardKusiima
      @RichardKusiima 20 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      If it’s copycat, that’s not strategy! That’s tactic!

    • @quirkworks4076
      @quirkworks4076 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Talent alone often has to eat cat food in an apartment with no heat, and that is not prevailing. We’ve all known immensely talented people who couldn’t pay the rent. Strategy alone isn’t the answer either, because without talent we end up trying to drive nails with a bran muffin. It has to be a combination, and strategy must come first. I’ve been a professional creative since the 80’s and have come awfully close to eating cat food because I failed to understand this.

      Isn't is interesting how knowledge inspires/motivates complex work? And whatever entrepreneurship and creative work are, they are complex.
      Knowledge is defined as information in action for results. No disrespect to any of his fans, but this is why I have zero interest in Tony Robbins. To stay motivated in entrepreneurship and creative work, stay focused on increasing your skills aka knowledge. In other words, this new book by Godin (This is Strategy) is a quintessential example of better late than never 💜

    remember.. you can do everything right but it still does not turn out how you hoped..
    there's competition (often cheating competition) and unexpected events
    so it's great if you try but these guys figured out there's more money in sounding confident and giving "answers" to people
    yes it's often good advice but be kind to yourself in the tough days and if things don't work out how you hoped
    there have been many very hard working people with good plans who got ripped off or just bad run of events
    i hope the good things you hope to do work out good for you though

    Strategy is not for all! Most people simply need tactics to thrive - Strategy belongs to just a few who make that one choice to be different! Tactics exploit; Strategy explores!
    By way of cognitive functions, each individual has a default mix of functions that cause them to easily lean into one of the spaces or along that spectrum of explore-exploit, they will use the word ‘strategy’ which simply plays as a lexical gap on their part cause, ask them what that means to them and, like Seth is saying, most people will start talking about tactics calling it strategy, getting emotional and ready to argue a space they have so little knowledge about!
    Those that think they have gotten it, if they don’t belong to the explore group, soon realize that entropy is a reality, finding themselves back to their default state of tactics! Strategy is not for all!
