People who don't use summons deserve to miss out on the epic summon that is Igon vs Bayle. Summons are fun. They are your travel homies. Some of the new summons are so fun to watch too.
@@carlubeytubey for me that immortalized that fight. Anytime I use Igon's bow I can't help but smile. And with bows now viable I find my self using it quite a bit
@mercurialblonde that's how I feel about it too. It's nice to have summons that add to the story, even if it's just sprinkled in lore. The fact that it gets repetitive for ppl is kinda of just "it is what is" cause not dying is the players responsibility. I know I'm crazy and was not annoyed by that dope monolog (even tho he wasnt doing much dmg).
There's way too many arbitrary rules about what makes someone a 'true gamer' today. It's exhausting to try and keep up. My liberation happened when I played RE7 and RE8 on the easiest difficulty. I have no intention of following METAs or arbitrary rules ever again.
i think most peoples problem is that in the souls games that liberation you had playing on the easiest difficulty is just not something within the grasp that they allow. Yes you can summon but if you cant stay alive the summon and all souls games tie some form of consumable to summoning so if you are struggling its often not something you can beat your head against the wall of. Yes strong spells exist that make the game a lot easier, but a lot of them are a fair ways into the game so if you are struggling already to get further it is not something that would help. So what a lot of people are stuck with is being stuck on Re7 madhouse difficulty for the first time and the only help they are given is go get the M21 shotgun it makes it way easier, like ya it does but if you cant get there its not really a help. and a lot of these people never get a chance to have a similar experience with what you had with the soul series.
@@bloomleaf8310 Fantastic explanation and example, but that isn't the player base this video is talking about. I'm curious now what ratio of players leaving a bad review were players you speak about vs players that just refuse to use things like summons(aka just following arbitrary rules). I'm not one of the players that is incapable of beating harder difficulties btw. RE7 and 8 on the easiest difficulty was just my first experience playing a game without putting arbitrary rules behind it. My wife wanted to watch and simply asked me to play on the easiest difficulty in order to make it enjoyable for her to watch. We had such a blast on those playthroughs. It completely blew my mind that games could be played for simply enjoyment and not all games needed to be even challenging. I do still play harder difficulties or even soul-like games, but that RE7 and 8 experience just helped liberate me from those arbitrary rules many gamers put on themselves.
I waited for 2 years on this game. I will not rush through this. And also to the people who says this game is too hard and don't want to use the tools available to them? I put it this, we're both gonna break rocks, I will use a pick axe while the other uses a chisel because they don't want to use a pick axe because they want a challenge
I remember when people weren’t leveling vigor and we had to repeatedly tell them to level vigor if they want to stay alive longer. Now we have to tell them to collect the scadutree fragments. It really is just a cycle
Some people in the Souls community baffle me. They'll chastise you for using magic and summons saying you're cheesing Elden Ring. Then a lot of those same people went samurai blood build cheese day 1 on Elden Ring.
It's really weird. There are a lot of challenge runners, and people who do minimal self imposed rules like no summoning. But, I've never once given a shit if someone else plays through casually and uses w/e. I think a different loud group that likely haven't even done challenge runs are trying to put down other's by self imposing arbitrary rules so they can feel better about their gaming accomplishments. It seems absurd to an extent. But when I watch people do a boss for the first time and they don't struggle in the same way I did I get an "itch" so to speak, and for some people that itch must be compelling them gatekeep. Like yea it sucks that someone won't experience the game the same way as you if you wanted that, but like, that's the beauty of the game, especially ER where there's so much variety and ways to approach the game and it's many many utilities for combat.
@@BokkoTheBunny I love playing fantasy games with magic if I'm allowed to use it over melee builds, cause lets be honest, literally almost every game out there that isn't a shooter is mostly melee. If you fight the dlc bosses with any summon for 2 seconds you can immediately tell they have been tuned to deal with summoning. They will straight up ignore the summon to hit you even if the summon is wailing on them. They straight up don’t cheese them like they did to bosses before. Im always down to fight a boss alone. Usually if an npc is tied to it I will use them. If a boss is really hard for me you though you better believe im coming back w/ mimic and myself and I are gonna kick their ass.
I have never cared at all how someone else beat a boss, I would not put my own ideals of a challenge on others. If the boss is easy for you, good for you, you fight it with your bare hands, I will be using the tools provided that I need. And I fight a boss until I learn it's movesets and prevail alone or with my ash spirit. Summoning other players is only on Ng+'s, and that's to quickly go through so I can help other players, or progressing with friends. Just do you, and keep your personal restrictions to yourself.
mechanic that mechanic this, the reason people dont use summons or some people dont use them is just for the satisfaction of beating the game without using that ONE mechanic everyone uses, it just makes you feel better than others in wich cases you are
That's fine, but don't complain because you chose to do a challenge run. The game wants you to use summons. There's literally quest story beats that you can only see through summoning
@@mercurialblondeNah i’ll complain. Summoning a meatshield so you can spam r1 at the back of the boss and ignore mechanics is not fun. And fighting bosses with hp and dmg stats balanced for summons without summons is not fun either. 🤷♂️
There's nothing wrong with using summons or certain builds and weapons that lets you beat the game in a less frustrating way. Just cause someone decided to beat a boss the hardest way possible it doesn't mean that's how everyone should beat said boss. There are different play styles. Is a farmer that grows his crops only using old style tools more skilled than someone using modern ones or vice versa? No. Their just better at using different tools than the other farmer. Yet they achieve the same goal. Have fun and play your way because in the end that's all that matters.
Great take. One thing I want to add onto it is, Elden Ring is in its core, an RPG. People can play as different types of characters, enjoy different kinds of interactions and playstyles, or different aspects of the game. Some people may prefer their character being overpowered, or feeling the glory of being unmatched in the game versus all these epic bosses. Some may prefer a challenge, akin to completing trial after trial. And all of these are okay, it's YOUR game, YOU bought it, YOU get to play as you please. Objectively, the DLC is indeed harder than the base game(which imo hugely is due to how new it is, and how out of practice we are), so people who prefer seeing their characters do cool ass moves just to tickle the boss, then die to two bonks to the head from a random horn warrior may want to use summons to feel like they are once again "in character", and back to being the entity that rolls each boss easily. And that is most certainly okay. And another thing, some people(myself included) just want to go through the DLC to experience the bosses for the first time, not for the challenge but for the aesthetics, the loot, the lore, etc, without dealing with them necessarily for hours on end while making the game more difficult than it is. Then come back to it later on another NG cycle or another character, and this time learn the fight better, take our time, maybe try out different builds. Everyone plays differently. It's a game, let people enjoy it the way they want.
I need more broken weapons from the dlc. I keep trying out the new weapons but ultimately go back to my base build when I get stuck because they're more OP
Time for me to hop back intro elden ring after not playing for 2 years while being in the middle of a newgame plus. I don't remember shit, but I look forward to learning how to play again. Wish me luck.
Can confirm, they did not patch the crow. Using it as I watch this vid to build a fresh character to run the dlc. I did my first dlc run on a NG+2 character. It is not too hard. It was difficult, but not a single boss was harder for me than Malenia. If you beat the base game, giving up is the only thing stopping you from beating the dlc. It doesn't take any more skill.
The problem is people are way to aggressive in the boss fights. Way too eager to proc their consecutive hits buff and their status ailments. I play colossal and i can still find a chance to hit a charged r2 between combos.
