Rental car insurance is rarely worth it if your personal vehicle is insured and you pay for your rental car with a credit card. You may not have to purchase rental car insurance if you are traveling for business, either.
In most cases, your personal auto insurance will
cover you as if you were driving your own car.
Major credit cards generally include some level
of collision insurance when you reserve and pay
for the entire rental with that card.
If you are traveling for business, you are likely
covered by a company insurance policy. Check
with your employer to be sure you know what
coverage they provide.

rental car worker here we would 100% without a doubt never tell you it’s mandatory to buy the optional insurance. If a higher up caught you doing that you are fired on the spot
Exactly, this guy is just spewing bullshit
Lol, not everyone has the same insurance coverage that can be transferred to a rental, and even less people have a credit card that covers what the auto insurance do not cover. If you do have rental insurance and credit card with a deductible if anything goes wrong, great. But if not the protection products which waives your responsibility to anything that happens to the car are actually really smart to have, they are not mandatory tho btw
My insurance only has liability and Goldman Sachs credit card doesn’t offer auto rental insurance coverage 😅 if the rental was stolen I would be liable
Enterprise employee here, the products we offer are NOT insurance, they’re optional protections. You can choose to use the optional protections we offer or your own insurance. If you use your own insurance, regardless of who’s at fault, you’re still liable. We cannot force someone to use our protections because that’s unethical and we’d get fired immediately.
Your insurance will go up if you get in a accident
Waiver it's called waiver. They don't call in insurance. Because it's not.
so for those of you who dont get the insurance do yourself a favor and get it , my husband was returning his rental the day of and got into accident , yes our insurance covered it but it would have been nice to not have to pay for damages regardless accidents happen and you don't want to be left holding the bill.
I think if your credit card ex Amex premium insurance covers + buy the extra liability insurance that should work.
Doesn’t cover liability though. Only covers the car rental up to a certain amount depending on your CC.
Lies
Actually, it depends on the state.
@@AL-eb2yy wrong. I’m in the rental car industry. Do your research.
I am looking into renting a car in Arizona and on internet it says you don’t have to get rental insurance in Arizona because the rental agency covers it?? Does that sound correct?
you can buy stand alone car hire excess insurance for about eighty bucks per year. If you rent a car for one week it makes it worth it.
Thank you , this is good
When their sold out online but they can rent a few extra cars some people will pay it just to get a fucking car lol
It’s not insurance. It’s a waiver. And it’s abundantly clear that it’s optional. However, if you don’t want the waiver, you will be held responsible. Your insurance will take the hit.
I always say that I’m using my own. I never pay any additional coverage, even if they insist.
Lmao this short literally copied another guy
Yup legacy investing
yep and it's just as bad advice as another guy lol
problem solved. Get an American Express platinum yeah, sure most of your bums can’t get it but if you’re responsible and have good income, you probably can
Yes
I've NEVER purchased they're insurance.
Any customer that has a problem paying the extra $30 a day for insurance isn the type of customer you want in the first place!
🤡
I have my own insurance. Sucks for you when customers know better than to be scammed by needless expensive daily fees that are for no point at all other than to get your hard earned money. I never get their insurance and rental car companies love me.
@@birdistheword1327 it’s not needless I get it everytime. I doubt they love you
The car rental company by law has to have full insurance and liability on the vehicle. They can choose to charge you for that insurance or not.
Not true
