Seeing you actually go step by step with your process is very rare, and very helpful. i have a small spot like this on my monitor that i was planning on attempting to repair, but seeing you take your monitor apart was nerve wracking and my monitor was too expensive for me to want to tinker with so i’ve decided that im going to leave it lol
Man... I bought a monitor and it has a white spot that is TOTALLY IDENTICAL to yours! Even the location! Well, return it in the middle of the pandemic is complicated for me. So, maybe I'll try that solution, some day... Thanks for the video.
This is great!! I don't see a small light, I actually see 16 bright lights in the back ground for my monitor. I feel like it is dead now, but I am one to never give up and will open it up and clean.
Man, I'm so glad for you! The look of the person who actually disassemble the whole panel due to a small pale dot - that's priceless, such moments of perfection - that's what make me happy :) I have the same dot on my laptop screen that just drives me nuts in the same way but it's a brand new Razer Blade and I think I'm not that bold to tear it all apart in the same way 🤔
HI Gerald, you should use what is called 'dark field imaging' in order to locate uneven and light-scattering features. Just shine a light on it from a very shallow angle, or rather a large angle relative to the normal incidence, but the flash lamp like on the table radiating horizontally along the surface. Also, instead of keep wiping dust particles away, just use an air blower. Wearing gloves is also a good idea, because every little fatty residue will change the light scattering, just like smudges from your skin's fat on a phone. You could introduce more uneven lighting by it. Oh and congratulations on fixing it, feels good to repair something in the day and age where most people just know how to 'consume' something new instead of even trying! You're not crazy, I'd do the even nerdier videos, so no worries there mate :P
That was surprisingly compelling. I've never had that issue but I had no idea what the inside of a monitor looked like. Like an episode of How It's Made!
This can also be tiny plastic diffusers on top of the led backlights falling off (usually heat / humidity causes the glue to weaken over time and they drop off). Pull of that last diffuser panel and you may find several lying around if this methos doesnt get rid of the spot. Gluing these back on should solve the issue
We have this Sony Smart TV. I don't want to mesh around with it coz still has its warranty. They change the LCD screen twice but the problem still existed. I give them another 2 weeks to figure it out the problem until I saw your video. The most technique you should try is download a color pattern most specially blue and green one. Maybe you can still spot more white pixels.
Dude, I am going to try this on my Thinkpad because I would replace it anyway, but the display is expensive because it's also a touchscreen. You have the only proper documented fix for this, everyone else will say just replace the screen. Awesome!
I have the same issue on my monitor but it's at the bottom right where I don't even look at 99.9% of the time and only really noticeable on white images which I rarely do look at...I'm all about that dark mode. So it's really a non issue for me...but I might try this one day if I'm feeling adventurous 😁
I made the purchased of a BenQ BL2423PT a few months ago, when using my browser I noticed a circular bright spot on the left most side of the screen, I took the monitor out of the stand and applied so light pressure to even out the screen and used some compressed air to clean the inside area. This got rid if the spot and it has keep working with no bright spots for a couple of months and I hope it to remain like that until the time to get a new monitor come.
@@tuffy1612 it shouldn't get worse. I have a really small one on my laptop had it a year and it hasn't gotten worse. Its hardly noticable on white screens unless you look hard for it and pretty much gone on any other color so I just rather live with it then attempt this
Lol same here and the worst part of it is my laptop is relatively brand new like only a month old and i already see three spots, one of which is really bright in white color but disappears at any other color. I was about to do the same, like what he did in the video except the toothpaste trick, but i wouldn't dare to take it apart and void my warranty.
@@HelipOfficial i have one in my laptop and i dont know if it is new or i just noticed it, it is only noticeable in white color and disappears in other colors, since your laptop is new you can replace it or use the warranty to fix it.
It easy get rid it with laptop screen all your need to duo is rub some pressure on back side of panel but need remove the screen first. Don't use too mush pressure or you crack LCD layer of screen. Note this will cause more IPS glow that may last more then 24 hours.
Awesome! It's very hard to find any information about this kind of issue, and while none of the spots on my cheap monitor are strong enough to warrant action it is good to know where they come from and that there is no need to worry.
Have the same problem with my iPad Pro and apparently so does many many people. Only shows up on white backdrop. Can’t really see it on a black background and it’s a small like 1 inch or so bright spot typically above the home button. I’m happy my warranty gets me a replacement but still a pain
Whenever I watch repair videos I would skip to the end to see if anything was fixed. If it ain't fixed then there's no point watching the whole video and I would search for something else. But since you fixed it in the end, I watched your step-by-step solution. Congrats you did it!
Respect Gerald good job ... personally if your keeping the device for yourself try learning to live with it first before trying this delicate task as you need space to do it and can't be rushed
I have an BENQ with similar problems, mine almost have half of a Nike-ish logo pressure "thing" that looks like is made in relief. Funny thing is I used this monitor from 2013 until now ( 2020 ) and it developed this issue only now. I don't understand if I applied too much pressure clean it, it it was something done to when it was manufactured... I am so curios how this happened and why after so many years... Is your monitor okay after 2 years since you fix it?
I also tried separating my laptop screen when it appeared bright spots. After separating I saw the source of the problem. It looked like a streak of water, or steam that somehow appeared on our screen. The job is not too difficult, what you need is a dust-free environment and a specialized screen tape.
It seems like you made this video because you enjoyed this process. That's pretty cool. Also the double glasses thing. Hilarious. I had to scroll back!
I have PTSD from one of those cheap BenQ monitors. In my case it was a 22inch and then the backlight started dying after only 3 years. I would never trust a BenQ monitor again after having such a pathetic failure, the power supply was integrated which something I hated as well. I replaced it with a 24 inch Samsung TN never had problems and loved the capacitve buttons. After a while, I upgraded to a 27 inch IPS but it's not perfect, it has the same issue like you do but I'm not that annoyed by it. Quality control is REALLY loose on many monitor manufacturers and I hate it.
Question: I live in the UK and we have these annoying little bugs called midges (don't know if I spelled that right) that get into our homes from time to time, I think one got under my screen and died lol, should I try this to get rid of the spot or just leave it alone. I think I could probably repeat your steps but just interested in an opinion as the most I've ever done computer-wise is build my pc, I've never taken components apart short of removing keyboard keys to dampen or clean my board. Thank you in advance for any advice :)
what is the laying processes inner side the lcd , from back light to front , what will be apply first , plastic sheet ? wight paper ? and how many layers should be ?
I hopefully came here to get a solution for the white dot problem. I didn't see any blue spot or scratch on the panel you showed. You placed a blue guitar plucker type triangle thing on that panel and pointed a blue long thing. Why? Using blue things and making us "see" there is a blue spot?
I took a TV apart and replaced a few of the leds. I used super glue to glue the lenses back on and some of them fell off. I had a beautiful picture except I had 6 evenly spaces out white spots lol. Anyway took it back apart found a glue that would hold them on properly but now I have a bunch of white spots but not as bright or evenly spaces like it's the leds and the pictures seems super bright so bright I have to turn the brightness down even further then usually and lite screens look weird like white is more of a silver look. I'm wondering it the screen is ruined or could it be the display or just the reflectors
I tried this today on my laptop, I will share my experience now, I had that bright dot in the center of the screen and it was annoying me so I opened the laptop's screen to solve the issue but I made it worse, when I put the screen all together I saw, even more, bring spots on the screen, so I kept trying and trying to get it solved and I couldn't fix it, every time I try i' just made it worse, my best recommendation does not try this if you don't have the right tools to do it especially on laptops as their screens are very fragile and hard to open, so at the end I decided to drop my laptop on a repair shop for a screen replacement and it will cost me 80$
Interesting, gret stuff. 👌 I only have one monitor so I am not gonna try this, but mine is 7 years old I think it's Benq too, it's Benq Gw2260 hm but it has a cloudy look to the panel now, it's whole panel, I see cloudy all over it. I am not sure what is doing it, mabye just wear on those sheets. So it lasted years before this problem started in 2020 and got worse. If same thing could be done to mine that sure would take a lot of work.

which toothpaste you used? aquafresh will be good? have the same small spot that is particularly visible on bright colors. what have you done to the screen when it was showing half the image on the boot and did it automatically recovered on next boot?
I have an issue where the pixels are darker instead of lighter, and its right at the edges after cleaning my screen with monitor wipes. I'm pretty sure the cleaning solution got round the edge of the panel. Reckon it's worth having a look inside, or would this kind of thing be permanent damage?
I recently had one of these bright spots appear on my phone's screen and it was definitely not there before, I have a habit of using the phones built in timer and it uses a white background (samsung clock app). Depends. On newer laptops and phones it's fairly common for pressure spots to appear eventually as the devices get flexed. On a PC monitor that just sits on desk all day nothing happens really.
Great Job dude, I have a 50 inch Vizio with the same problem ... only mine happened by accidentally pushing too hard while pointing something out on the screen. Then my friend did the same thing about a year ago which led to the 2nd spot. Ugh! I was so pissed at her. Thanks for the video, chances are I just might try that fix myself. I'm very handy with tools. Lol.

Not exacly. Sometimes something is behind your screen (or something pressing the screen). I suggest you cleaning behind first. Something I noticed here is that, in the moment I remove my screen, the white spot got less appearent. Hence, I cleaned behind and the white spot got better. Not fixed, but better. Here It is almost invisible now. I need a white wallpaper and concentrate on the white spot to find the spot again.
I have around 10 of those dots acros the laptop screen (like the footprint of some keys). Lenovo t440p. I wonder if this screen is simillarly built or not

Here It is almost invisible now. I need a white wallpaper and concentrate on the white spot to find the spot again.
He's not ordinary cause he fixed it duh.
I usually lick them, that removes all the white spots from my monitor. Try it it works!
Oh wow! Thank you!❤️
oh look at u 2 jokers lol ur not making me lick the screen lmfao u 2
Haha F*** i won't do that definitely a no no
Out of desperation I try to lick my monitor and unbelievable, it works !
No white spots anymore.
Fajar Blackmore still not falling for it
Nice job guys
I have around 10 of those dots acros the laptop screen (like the footprint of some keys). Lenovo t440p. I wonder if this screen is simillarly built or not
How does this happen exactly? i think the same just happened to a monitor of mine.
Wow, this just hit my recommendations. DDAWG squad 😂🤣 totally makes sense that you’d tear down your monitor just to try a bunch of methods to fix a very particular issue haha
Pretty sure he said DONG Squad 😂😂😂
What is the solution you used to clear that.. Where can (shop) I get this?
Its that true or he replace a brandnew? But anyway thank you
@gerald undone can I just leave/ignore these white spots as they are only visible in white screen and not causing me any problems?
Hello, Can you give any solution to remove dead pixel of monitor?
I'm staring at 3-4 such white blobs on my dell laptop. I have already sent in panel for warranty fix of same thing a year ago. It came back with some of the plastic fasteners broken.. so ... I'm just going to live with what amounts to "eye floaters"
what did they say about breaking the fastners? surely they have to replace the laptop if they broke them?
my laotop screen has few of these white spots. i took if off a while ago but couldn't spot anything. i might need a sunglasses now!
This lad has 2 pairs of glasses on his head, what a legend
Not a legend
And it disappeared after 3:01
i have this but on my macbook pro, any suggestions?
Did you just.......... break the monitor or what? And how did you remove the frames? (Not that I'm likely to try, just curious)
I explain it all in reverse throughout the video as I put it back together. I'm still using it today. But yeah, I wouldn't recommend it. 😃
Will the presence of the dot damage the screen?
Cool video. I recently bought a 2nd BenQ monitor and their terrific. I think most companies have an RMA warenty of up to 1 year sometimes more.
Thanks! Yeah, I've been pretty happy with BenQ for the most part. :)
TH-cam just suggested that to me Gerald 😁
Wow, your Channel came a long way!
I have a similar problem with the new 82in TV I bought off ebay. 2grand it's annoying but what can I do.
what are the 2 solid white dots about 2 inches apart that appear intermittently together on your work monitor screen usually in the upper left hand corner. It looks like 2 white eyeballs. Is it a company monitoring system or is it someone trying to access my screen to spy.
i was genuinely afraid-ish for your monitor -- omg :D -- this was damn suspense movie! xD glad you managed to fix it and re-assemble it :D woohooo!! dude! congrats :D
I was pretty afraid too. :D
I figured it was 50/50 if it ever worked again.
I'm comfortable taking the bottom half of my laptop apart and taking an inaccessible hard drive out and fixing my ps4 controller etc. but taking the lcd apart- i'm not comfortable with. Can't see a way to disassemble my laptop screen and not sure i'd get it all back together. Got 3 of these white spots all of a sudden, almost in a line. Could have been bent or impacted although im not sure when...
Can i ask you? Where do u usually get this from?
This method made screen of my laptop worse. Are these reflective layers sold anywhere ?
I have the same spot in my iPad Pro 10.5. It’s annoying to see. Not sure how can I fix mine.
got several of those spots on my monitor but I don't know if I should open it, it's a Samsung CHG90 and a nightmare to open.
I've just bought a monitor today and found out it has 3 white dots. I can return it. Should I return it, or can I go with it. Will it spread?
@Kolos Barlik thanks, I will return it
What do you do if the spots are much more larger
today i see twee spots on my laptop . Looks like today electo stuff are junk. my old laptop more than 20years old never had this problem . but thanks gone open my laptop screen en gone fix it
nothing to lose for it
Two have appeared on my Samsung smart tv and its not that old, ive noticed manufacturors are producing shite and it seems to becomming acceptable. I wouldnt go near a Samsung appliance again with a barge pole, the problem is what tv can you buy that wont develop these spots ?
Are these going to effect my ckmputer if i dont fix them
Is it really dangerous to the laptop screen, if I don't fix it now
Bro will it cause any problem in my laptop if I keep it as it is.
I want to do this on my Dell G5 5590 but IDK how to take apart the screen without breaking it?
Does it happen due to moisture ? The white patches
That Bob Ross clip tho xD Great job getting your monitor back to tip top shape!
Yeah! :) It just came to me when I was editing. I was like, "What does that sound remind me of? OH YEAH! Bob Ross!"
can i do it too with my phone?
is their any process to remove black spot ...?
Where the hell those dots are coming from in the first place? Is it somehow added during the manufacturing phase?
I've been seeing a small white bright dot on my screen and it's very annoying but I don't have the guts to disassemble my laptop and try fixing it and therefore I just let it be there bothering me
hey man, you still got the same bright spot ?
my laptop screen got one and idk what's the plan, did the spot become bigger ??
@@Ali-x2h6g na man, it's still there bothering me but it hasn't got any bigger and is of the same size as it was a month ago.
@@friendlyneighborhoodchanne2768 cool, is the spot in ur screen hot and warm ?
my screen got this spot and its so hot, it's a laptop so maybe it's normal idk, although thank you fam.
@@Ali-x2h6g I never really noticed lol
Let me fire up that laptop and check the damn spot's temperature
@@Ali-x2h6g na man, it's not warm
Your laptop has touchscreen?
I hope this fixes my mom’s laptop, i use it and she’s mad at me even though i didnt do it
This happened to my laptop screen and right before i was going to open the screen up, i decided to push with a good amount of force, about enough to crush a peanut, on the back of the screen and it worked.
WHAT DID YOU DO ? ! Please more details
@@daliborslavenski7147 just what j said. Put pressure on where the dot is but from the opposite side of the laptop. So don't push on the screen, push on the back of the laptop where you think the dot is. If still nothing then idk. Hope it helps.
