I went to Page, AZ over Memorial Day weekend in 2023. I had a blast! My experience with Antelope Canyon was the complete opposite and I’ll explain why. With me being a photographer, I chose to take the Photographer tour. I paid a little extra for that tour but there was only 5 people including myself in our group. Of the 5 people only 3 of us had DSLR or Mirrorless cameras. The other two used their phones. Our guide was great and helpful. Here is the best part. We were able to spend 3 hours in the canyon! We were allowed to explore and roam and take all the photos we wanted. There were signs posted saying no video recording. We were allowed to bring tripods and our camera bags. It’s so dusty in there that you do NOT want to be changing a lens so I used a wide angle 14mm lens and kept that on the entire time. I was able to capture many breathtaking images (I have a vlog on my channel showing many of my images). If you know how to operate the settings of your camera you will be fine. I took some great photos in there with my iPhone too. You are right about them bringing those big groups in/out. We saw them and yes the guides did sound rude telling the people to keep moving because they had to get the group in and back out so the next group could come through. I will definitely do it again.
I think there’s some sort of obsession among TH-camrs about finding parking in Zion. "Be there early or you’ll have to park in town and use the shuttle!" Honestly, I’d say don’t stress about finding parking in the park itself. Get a good night's sleep like a normal person, go at a convenient time, and park in Springdale. Parking there isn’t expensive, and the shuttle bus is free. But honestly, is it even worth taking the shuttle? Walking 3-4 bus stops takes only about 7-10 minutes. Come on!
Just got back from down there. My favorite was doing the Wildcat Trail hike in Monument Valley. I did just the lower Antelope Canyon and I believe it was half the price of the upper. I got great pics and I had a great time!
My husband and i have done both Upper and Lower Canyon (a year apart). I loved it. Our Navajo guides were great and our tours weren't too busy. (Lower busier than upper but its also easier to get to). We did a private tour at the lower canyon (worth it) and also included lunch (a taco frybread thing) very tasty and special native american tea. To describe the differences, Upper Canyon you walk through at entry level, and the slots are shaped more like an "A", so the base is wider and you can walk the whole thing through. Lower canyon is shaped more like a "V", and you have to navigate many metal staircases down to start, then up at the end to get out of the canyon. Lower canyon is longer, so you get more time in the slots. Truly a most beautiful experience. For less people try midweek if you can.
Glad that you had a better experience! ☺️👏🏼 The place itself is one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever seen, but we just had bad luck with our guide/tour… it was midweek and not even the perfect timing for the most beautiful light 🤷🏼♀️
Hi Isabelle and Flo :) I came across yours vlog when was preparing for my first visit in The USA. You're so amicable couple! Thanks for videos and greetings from behind the border- Poland :)
We just went to Lower Antelope Canyon with Ken’s tour! And it was beautiful, we had 1 hour down the lower canyon and the guide very kind and help us to take pictures! So we had a better experience than you! I highly recommend having a tour there!
Yes, Antelope Canyon has gotten crowded. Yes, it is an out of this world type of place. Glad you liked the scene. You were allowed a visit into a Family's Back Yard. I believe the family and their employees do the best with overwhelming numbers of visitors. Yes. Family owned, not tribal owned. Restrooms & parking could be improved too. Safe travels.
My wife and I did trips to Utah and Colorado. Spent 3 days in Salt Lake City, and spent 4 days in Zion, so we missed the other Utah sites. In Colorado, we went to Garden of the gods, Mesa Verde and RMNP. If you love the exotic variety of desert, Utah is better than Colorado. If you love larger mountains and greenery, Colorado is better. I am from Kentucky where everything is green, so I will have to go with Colorado. I admit I did not see all of the other spectacular sites in Utah.
I grew up in Page (70’s and 80’s) and there was no tour. As kids, we use to visit the canyons and lake whenever we wanted. Page has changed over the years. Antelope Point marina did not exist either.
For those unaware. Antelope Canyon is almost 30 miles long. There are plenty of other options to see the canyon. Each section of the canyon is owned by a different family. With some tours being hours long, one of which is 6 hours.
We just came back from upper Antelope last week. It was so crowded. We bought the tickets from Viator $179/ ticket. We couldn't take ourselves pictures because we were pushed towards the front. It's so beautiful but so sad we couldn't take the pictures.
I am sorry you didn’t have a great time in the Antelope caves. I visited it 7 years ago and it was not bad. The fee was minimum and we took as much as pictures as wanted. I am no photographer, just pint and shoot and my photos came out magnificent.
I went there last year and I disagree. It didnt feel super crowded. They spread the people out single file so youre not really all bunched up except for a few places where the guide explains some of the formations
So schade...
They have an advance permit lottery online but your chances are equally, well, virtually zero in winning a permit. I've applied every month for the last 20 months and haven't won. Many have applied for many years and haven't won a "Wave" permit.
This is the problem with both of these. One is super expensive, going to be just over three hundred bucks for my family! The other is very difficult to get into, and a long trail, and I think its almost designed that way to push you towards spending money at the other. Disappointing.
I don't like all these natural wonders the lord left for us to enjoy , having a lottery system or tickets to get in . It only makes more people want to go more when its restricted
If you had too many people going, the place would erode and be badly damaged. They have to fund the permit system and lottery process. None of this is free. Somebody has to pay for the infrastructure.
We understand and we are not against the lottery idea! But we think the people winning the lottery every day already pay enough money to fund the system 🤨😅

The canyon looks beautiful.. Keep the funny outtakes coming!
We will hahah the canyon was super nice!

What month did you go? Is it hot

When your laying out your trip on the map 1:33 what program are you using to illustrate? Thanks in advance
Could you please let me know what time during the day was your trip in Lower Antelope Canyon?

Tolles Video, ich liebe es, an eurer Reise teilhaben zu können🥰🥰
There is a special tour just for photographers, of course it is even more expensive.

I have heard that post-Covid, many tourist destinations have been quite crowded due to everyone wanting to go out and explore once again.
Amazing place just like MOAB, UT.
I went there last year and I disagree. It didnt feel super crowded. They spread the people out single file so youre not really all bunched up except for a few places where the guide explains some of the formations
🙂🙋👍👏
Canyon X is a good alternative
Can i go to antelop canyon without tour guide ?
Nope..
No. You have to have a Navajo guide.
These areas belong to the Tribe so the US Park and Service department has no control over it!
So schade...

Why is this natural rock formation so restricted to public access ???
On tribal land
@@tiredsinglemom That and people are dummies. Past vandalism has also lead to the restrictions.
Because the tribes know they can profit off of this. So they rip off tourists to look at nature
Kapan ke bali lagi flo
I don't like all these natural wonders the lord left for us to enjoy , having a lottery system or tickets to get in . It only makes more people want to go more when its restricted
Tribal lands, their god doesn’t want the sacred lands ruined by a bunch of outsiders
Unfortunately, I think you got a guide who wanted to get home. Never do the lsst tour of the day if you ave choices.
If you had too many people going, the place would erode and be badly damaged. They have to fund the permit system and lottery process. None of this is free. Somebody has to pay for the infrastructure.

Thanks. This is a rip off.. We will avoid
