I remember joining a band and the singer was a lot older than me and had been playing for years. Probably the best advice he gave me was to never take heroin.
Good for you. "THere but for the Grace of God, go I". I say that a lot. Glad you listened. You can't miss what you never had. Stay well and safe. 😊 . God bless you all ❤❤❤
Its been said by many of Jim Morrison's close friends that he hated heroin, despised it & given the fact that no autopsy was ever performed i highly doubt he died from it.
You forgot Mike Starr who died from an overdose of perscription medication in May 2011 at age 44. He was the bassist of Alice in Chains until he was forced to leave the band in 1993 due to his addiction. Mike was the last person to see Layne Stanley alive. He appeared on Celebrity Rehab with Doctor Drew in 2010 after his severe addiction to herion and other drugs. It's so damn tragic that so many musicians have turned to drugs a path that is as destructive and unforgiving as anyone could imagine. May they all Rest in Peace.
I was the first to OD from my band. I luckily pulled through. My singer was giving me CPR until the paramedics got there. He died a year later from an overdose. A Couple years after that, my drummer died from an overdose. Not long after, my rhythm guitarist drank himself to death. Right after that, my bass player jumped head first off a bridge onto some railroad tracks, as he couldn't handle the depression of coming off the drugs. I'm the only one left of my band.
The stress of always having to "Be On", regardless of the circumstances. Always being expected to be up for the next gig even when you feel like hell and you've had only four hours of sleep in two nights. These are one of the many reasons why drugs take their toll on musicians and actors alike. Watching this video was heartbreaking.
I would have never thought Prince would die because of drug addiction. He was famous for not even smoking. But because of his extreme pain he got addicted to pain killers/opioids. The preacher who did the service for my moms funeral was recently arrested with a needle in his arm. He hurt his back and was given pain killers and got addicted. Abandoning his faith, and even his own family. Drug addiction is down right cruel.
This is a great video, but Phil Lynott didn't exactly overdose on H. People who knew him well said that he'd been overdosing regularly for years, and he'd suffered a bad case of Hep.B in '76. Alcohol and getting no sleep (on speed/coke, perhaps) weakened his system. Septicemia and organ failure were the causes. Then again, he must've taken a hefty dose to've brought on the final malaise. But it was more a cumulative process. RiP to all these people. x PS Two members of Uriah Heep died from ODs: Bassist/vocalist Gary Thain in 1975, from H, aged 27; and lead singer David Byron in 1985, from alcohol.
Shannon Hoon and especially Layne Staley absolutely gutted me. So heartbreaking the entire lot but these two were closest to my heart personally. They are always missed❤❤❤😢
I keep wondering why people still do heroin after hearing ONLY bad stories about it. I feel sorry for them, but a part of me also feels mad at their stupidity and bad decisions...
The many musicians to die at 27 is why people found it a cursed age. Really, it was about the choices. My father claimed that one thinks they're invincible as a teen or in their 20s, and I believed him.
The really sad part is most didn't see 30 years old, and some barely saw 20 years old!!!! The sex and rock and roll are one thing but drugs...NEVER!!!!
Unfortunately, yes 😔 and we will also be making a part 2. If you have any names that you think should be included in part 2, let us know in the comments. It's tragic, but the list is indeed much longer than these 68 names.
The real problem is denial "oh it was prescription pills prescribed by a doctor", "oh it was a tainted prescription", "he fell victim of overdose" etc. Instead of blaming the super stars for taking drugs things are minimized: "a dose is ok, it's the damned overdose, or the damned accidental overdose". Society does not want to deal with rock stars being druggies instead they "must" remain heroes, so it "must" have been tragic accidents. That's the war on drugs, that illusion has to be fought.
It's a crying shame That some of us have not survived No use in asking how it happened But very few are left alive I just wanna keep on makin' music We gotta keep on keepin' on You're only as good as your last record I know that someday we'll be gone, gone from Rock is My Life - BTO (1974)
@@CelebsLegacyData1I would agree with that. I had this phenomenal vision happen to me after nearly being killed in a car accident at 18. Incredibly peaceful. Let’s all hope for that place. Too much sadness in this world.
Damn, more then half died from heroin. I sorta don't agree with winehouse having a snippet over Whitney Houston. I mean, her biggest hit is making a joke about going to rehab. So it's not really a surprise that she succumbed to the drugs.
One of my favorite singers was Dolores O'Riordan. The Cranberries were my very first alt rock band that I loved and I wish I knew why she did what she did, and it must have been depression of some sort.
I am a math professor. I tell my students that if I had been exposed to crack cocaine instead of chess in high school, then I could have turned out ok. Instead, I am saddled with my current winning personality. Say, "No!" to chess, and say, "Yes!" to your life. Friends don't let friends play chess. Dare to say, "No!" to chess.
Hendrix’s manager stated he was afraid Hendrix wasn’t gonna make any more music, and leave. So, in order to protect their investment and secure a lasting legacy, they shoved pills and wine down Hendrix’s throat while he was passed out.
Prince never had a drug problem. IF he dabbled, which he gave hints, was experimental and like a symbolic 'squirrel' could handle it BUT he did NOT have an addiction. Even Steven Tyler questioned why his camp didn't do something based on experience and serious struggles. IF Prince was using opioids, most likely were medically controlled, but consider this forgotten fact; in the first part of that April Prince died, doctors with local law and drug enforcement held a press conference about a spike in illicit fentanyl overdoses as a warning to Minnesotans. Was it illicit imported to kill Americans fent that somehow ended in his medicine bottles? By accident? That's still in question but no further strong evidence exists. And in Minneapolis? NOW?
@Modernaire Prince had a long-standing addiction. Its just that the non-critical music press repeated his bullshit that he didn’t use drugs. He did. They killed him.
You would think just like deceased porn stars etc, when so many people are self destructing, you think maybe there is a darkness maybe people should avoid.
I grew up in the 60s and I personally knew several heroin addicts. Some are still alive but at least 5 died from overdoses. Most kids back in the 60s thought heroin addicts were losers
It blows my mind how you would take extra time to speak of the Who's drummer: Keith Moon, yet you didn't discuss JOHN HENRY BONHAM of Led Zeppelin at all. Because John Bonham has been MUCH MORE of a major influence on drummers all over the world vs Keith Moon. As a matter of fact, I can't think of any other R&R drummer who was more of an influence than Bonham, even to this very day. John Bonham was SO good, he could do more with a single kick drum vs anyone else using 2 kick drums. He was also really slick with time signature changes in the middle of a song. He was the greatest rock drummer who ever lived. John had gotten to the point that he absolutely hated touring & being away from his family & home for such long stretches, and they claim this is why he drank so much.
As an Eskorbuto fan, many thanks for mentioning Iosu Expósito. I'm sure he would be proud to appear next to GG Allin. The same year we lost Jualma Suárez, Eskorbuto bassist and singer. He was a heroin abuser as well, but he didn't die of an overdose. How could you forget to mention Dee Dee Ramone??
⚠First of all: never use drugs, ever!
➡➡ PART 2 OF MUSICIANS WHO DIED FROM OVERDOSES IS LIVE: t.ly/7aDP7
Yeah, I was gonna say you forgot 1994 of Kurt Cobain on this list
Tom Petty
I remember joining a band and the singer was a lot older than me and had been playing for years. Probably the best advice he gave me was to never take heroin.
Good for you. "THere but for the Grace of God, go I". I say that a lot. Glad you listened. You can't miss what you never had. Stay well and safe. 😊 . God bless you all ❤❤❤
Brian Jones should have been on that list
Its been said by many of Jim Morrison's close friends that he hated heroin, despised it & given the fact that no autopsy was ever performed i highly doubt he died from it.
This was put together ok, I think a segment on John Bonham was called for . Led Zeppelin was the biggest band in the world.

You forgot Kurt Cobain
You did not think you had to say a couple of words about Janis Joplin and Whitney Houston
R.I.P Bon, you were amazing!
It’s ridiculous how many of these musicians died from Heroin Overdoses
INSANE

Maybe John Belushi should be mentioned. He was comedian, actor and a musician. Died from a heroin overdose at 33 years old

There seems to be many cursed ages though judging from this video
The really sad part is most didn't see 30 years old, and some barely saw 20 years old!!!! The sex and rock and roll are one thing but drugs...NEVER!!!!
I stopped the video when Layne Staley didn't get praise for being to best grunge/metal singer of all time.
How many arrests were made of the drug dealers and doctors that supplied the drugs that killed all those artists ?
There's a lot more than 68.
Unfortunately, yes 😔 and we will also be making a part 2. If you have any names that you think should be included in part 2, let us know in the comments. It's tragic, but the list is indeed much longer than these 68 names.
What an absolutely stunning reminder of how evil drug and alcohol abuse is. The loss of these artists is incalculable.
The most shocking one was Prince. I always thought he was clean
I was under the impression that Jim Morrison drank himself to death!

I turned it off when they did not speak of John Bonham. Give me a break.
Alan Wilson was blues genius. He had overwhelming talent.
It's a crying shame
That some of us have not survived
No use in asking how it happened
But very few are left alive
I just wanna keep on makin' music
We gotta keep on keepin' on

Rock is My Life - BTO (1974)
Where are all the cannabis overdoses !?
Don’t mess around with selling your soul or demons. Drugs and alcohol are a foothold for demons and they will torment you mercilessly
Today, kids are saying, "Let's start a Rock band, for a couple of years, until we all die"
Andy Gibb?????
I think that was cancer?
Jimi Hendrix was drowned in wine
What about Tom Petty?
I didn`t know there is so many in the 27-club
There's also the 26-club and 28-club
For me Keith moon, Bon Scott…really sad, i am huge fan of both when they passed.
If this channel was run any slower we might be able to go back in time and save these musicians.
Lol. I actually sped up the playback speed. The main reason I sped it up was because I never heard of most of them
no marijuana on the death list
The narrator keeps wishing all who died "rest in peace". The problem is, after hearing their stories, you find out they never knew peace.
And yet, we hope they find peace somewhere. It's heartbreaking.
@@CelebsLegacyData1I would agree with that. I had this phenomenal vision happen to me after nearly being killed in a car accident at 18. Incredibly peaceful. Let’s all hope for that place. Too much sadness in this world.
@@CelebsLegacyData1 you are right. If they never knew peace then may they rip now
This is why people say “rest in peace”.
What about Kurt Cobain? How can you make a list without including him in it?
What about Kurt Cobain? His Heroin-addiction contributed as big as his depression to his suicide?
Hendrix didn't die of a drug overdose
I actually cried when I saw 10:52
68 dead musicians, 67 of which said to themselves “It will be different for me.” But it never is
Why did you not say anything about John Bonham?? He deserved some time on here.
Funny how we say “ taken”. They weren’t taken they just left us.
It was cars/planes, then drugs, then HIV. That band in the sky is now an orchestra. 💔💔
Bon scott died of hypothermia coz he was left in a car sleeping (it was reported) 🤔
Note: The 27 Club
johnny thunders is criminally underrated
Excellent video
Damn, more then half died from heroin. I sorta don't agree with winehouse having a snippet over Whitney Houston. I mean, her biggest hit is making a joke about going to rehab. So it's not really a surprise that she succumbed to the drugs.
Agreed. I never even heard of Amy Winehouse until she died. Whitney, on the other hand.....huge
I am more interested in: is there any musician who is not a drug user?
Sad that you passed over Whitney Houston. 😨
Bon Scott didn't die of a drug overdose.
Fuck me, didn't expect this to make me cry. Jimi, Jim, Alan Wilson... SMGDH🙏🙏🙏
Amy winehouse over whitney houston? Seriously?
Musicians who died from drug overdoses...how much time do you have? An honest video could run all day.
RIP to all. Thank you for your gift of talent and music 🎶🎶🙏🙏🕯️🕯️🕊️🕊️❤️
You'll always be remembered, Bon.
Cheers matey 🥃
My friend, hear them say, "Please, do not follow me, do not trust me. Trust Jesus; i beg you."

There's so many more you could've listed if you went back to the golden age of jazz and country music too.
the music is so anxiety filled
Rory Gallagher the best Guitarist
One of my favorite singers was Dolores O'Riordan. The Cranberries were my very first alt rock band that I loved and I wish I knew why she did what she did, and it must have been depression of some sort.
I'm so glad I'm scared of needles. This is so sad.
Its a long way to the top if you wanna RnR..
I can't help but wonder if Prince was set up and someone made sure he got phentynal discussed as oxys?
I remember the association.. windy.. good stuff

George Michael, Miles Davis, Robert Palmer,Bob Marley and Tina Turner and so on should be mentioned
So, to be a rock legend, you have to kill yourself at a young age? That's the dumbest thing i've ever heard.
Elvis did not die from a overdose, but a heart attack
… caused by an overdose
Brought on by drug use.
He had large amounts of medications in his body which contributed

No sure if I missed him or not but was Jerry Garcia included?

Do the 27 Club next.
dont really know for sure what happened to Jim cause they buried him without an autopsy.
You would think just like deceased porn stars etc, when so many people are self destructing, you think maybe there is a darkness maybe people should avoid.
I had heard that Bon Scott had passed out drunk in a car, and froze to death.
Wouldn't it have been easier to make a video of musicians that didn't die from overdoses?
Nice, but could have split it into Part1 & 2. Keep it up though

It’s a dangerous game, combining drugs and alcohol in large doses. You often don’t know your limits until it’s too late.
I think Prince don't! !!!
R.I.P to all of them
