I just want to say I am in the Air Force nothing close to a SEAL but I travel a lot and live in places without gyms and this is the best purchase I have made, it works great. 37 years between active duty and national guard and this certainly helps keep this old man in the game and many times because of experience far ahead of the younger guys. THANK YOU. Awesome tool.
I was in the military and used TRX once in a class. I was deployed during the pandemic and the gyms were closed at our location, so one of my fellow parachute Chiefs recommended TRX. I just threw it over my barracks room door and went to town! Best purchase ever!
Howdy! In the early spring of 2020 I was going to be in the San Francisco area, where TRX is located, and reached out to Randy to film a part 2 (this was shot in 2013). But then 2020 happened and all travel was cancelled. Keep on the lookout for a part 2 as soon as Randy and can coordinate our schedules.
Randy Hetrick, Awesome invention, so functional and portable. You're a rock star! I am an ACE personal trainer and use the TRX suspension trainer and rip trainer every session I train. I told my physical therapist about them. He looked into the suspension trainer and purchased them for his rehab. patients! Thanks for your invention and contribution to health and wellness!
I am 51 and struggle with exercising due to L Knee and 3 compressed Lumbar discs. I saw someone using TRX in our building's weight room and immediately saw the potential. I was always frame/body conscious due to Ballet, horseback riding, military trg. Bought it within days once I found a local supplier. I love the fact that I can customize my workout to work around my injuries and finally restrengthen/stretch and enhance my body. With minimal workouts, 6x5min a day to start, people have notices changes. It is such a different workout to bungy type resistance bands. So glad you packed your belt for that trip!! 4 friends so far have bought it. One friend takes hers to gym.
I think that is why I'll likely purchase one, injuries & illness. RA has damaged my leg joints, football F'd my spine, and being a heavy mechanic/meatcutter has done wonders for my shoulders. 6 surgeries later and #7 within the next couple of weeks, I need something after rehab to work around the soft core and the less mobile joints.
Love the TRX... Really sad that there are so many negative comments... Thank you Randy for bringing such an awesome option to the table! Thank you Pete for traveling to far away places to help educate our fitness communities!!
I'm a "TRX Qualified" trainer and I've used TRX as a supplement to other classes as well, everybody that has tried TRX suspension training really likes it.
Superb. Now i have myself a routine. A big thank you to the Inventor and originator of this vid and making it available. A spinal op made it necessary for me to look at alternative sports/disciplines other than bodybuilding. Any move involving my spine feeling compressed is out so i put together this contraption made out of short and hardy dog leashes. I was unaware of the existence of the TRX at the time. I therefore feel very fortunate that i stumbled across THE Man . I now have perspective and much sought after focus. If you are creative and on a budget it really is not difficult to put one together, though i appreciate that the original is by far superior and science based. Thank you to everyone.
Funny, LOVE all the comments - positive and negative. Randy is an awesome guy and the TRX is a cool product. Are there others out there like it? Sure. Will other products provide the same benefit? Yes. Am I an old guy who could stand to lose a few lbs? ABSOLUTELY! But I do fitness because it's fun and I like to exercise; I have never had aspirations of being a model or a bodybuilder. The purpose of this video, and others like it that we did for BOSU, Total Gym, ViPR, etc, was to give people a 'behind the scenes' look at products with the people who created them. It takes a lot of blood, sweat, tears and money to bring a product to market and make it successful; I love hearing the stories of how products are conceived and created so I came up with this series (ACE XTRAs) to give others the same opportunity b/c it's interesting to hear the process of inventing a product. BTW I'm a 40-something father of two who had a bad spine injury due to rugby (playing in the front row) a number of years ago, I'm happy to walk, let alone be able to make a living in the fitness industry.
Im 74 and also a former rugby player and have had my TRX for 2 years.Best thing I ever bought.Real easy to use and it does what it says.Just like the seals.
Sorry but TRX is nothing more than reinvented gymnastic rings... I don't hate it, but I think, people should realize it... The "inventor" doesn't actually bring anything new to a world... I am not saying that he copied gymnastic rings, but... think about it.
Thank you very much for a great video, I think you're super fit . People don't realize that when fitness trainors exercise, they do it at 100% capacity like you are doing in the video. No cheats!😁
TRX has been around for so long and here I have just learned about it three months ago, October 2021. From the git go, it's the best FEELING workout I've ever done. Just wakes the muscles up deliciously. Reminds me a lot of the exercises I did in dance class back in highschool (1978-80)...lol. So I've purchased the straps. Pondering how to set them up inside and out. I can tell a few months if this and I will transform my body strength, fitness and flexibility. Many thanks to Randy for creating this, and every person who trains others to use it!
I just want thank you for this amazing invention. I use it all the time as it is in my studio and I use it with my patients. Thank you so much for your innovation (and of course) your service.
I use it at the tennis court and golf course before playing. You can stretch everything so well in 7 or 8 minutes. Before and after. It's quite a clever invention. This, and my SUP board, are the simplest toys I own with the widest range of benefits.
I'm a former athlete that had surgery 2 months ago and am cleared to work out. I have a personal trainer who is having me do all most all TRX excersizes and I think it is the right workout for me now. These are more advanced excersizes but I want to work up to these more advanced movements.
Great video! I'm going to share it with my trainers at the gym. They "need" to know the proper way to use these straps. I learned a lot of new exercises. Thank you so much Randy!
For a beginner breaking into advanced workouts, I think this exact video is a great example. For advanced individuals working to get into a professional sphere, I think these exercises, done with more intense reps and sets, make for a great workout as well!
I have bodylastic bands and love them. This is a little different and I will add this to my regime. I can see this is awesome for my age of 64. Great stuff. Thaks.
The TRX is perfect as we age; I just finished my (2nd) book: Ageless Intensity, how high intensity exercise slows down the aging process and featured the TRX because it's so versatile. Pete (blue shirt guy)
This was a great "advanced" type workout! The guy seemed like a beginner but had advanced type form. I think if you do this workout several times per week it would be a great way to work up to advanced cardiorespiratory type exercises! There's great conditioning and cardio aspects to this workout!
Hey Simeon, TRX is a balanced core workout tool. Last I checked bench workouts don't touch the core very much. Bench is old school meathead workout. Also, bench doesn't do much for metabolic rate.
I have been using a homemade TRX I made recently and it works great. I will have to give that squat a try. Today is leg day; so this looks like a good opportunity to try it out. Those exercises with the foot straps look interesting. At some point I may have to add some foot straps to my DIY TRX.
The beauty of the TRX system is the simplicity, especially for those of us who travel. Secure it to a door and you're in business. No moving parts, just yours.
The trx is everything to me! That equipment alone is almost complete(I need two chairs to do dips) for whole body workout. I don't have a trx but I improvised one and it works perfectly like a real one(mine is actually stronger). It's made of rope and bamboo handles. Of course, the length is also adjustable.
I was introduced to this system at a fitness center. It was challenging from the beginning and after a year the results were amazing. Any ideas as to setting this system up at home?
I've been using this for at least 20 years I guess I should have marketed it. Mine is just 14feet chain with couple of carabins one each end that you can adjust on each end with a PVC pipe as a handle. I missed my opportunity!!!
I've been thinking of getting a trx band but it seems in many of the exercise you are essentially losing resistance in the last 25% of the movement as your body comes to be fully upright. Essentially the maximum resistance is in the beginning of the movement. Same in the hamstring curls, your max resistance is right at the beginning. TRX is more of a core/complimentary/cardio training rather than meant to be a workout for strength.
When he pulls a plank, look at his scapula protracting away from his back. This is bad torso support. It has to do with inappropriate motor control. He is bracing with the anterior chain musculature rather than using his posterior chain to support as well. Rotator cuff injury anyone? Fundamentals of exercise are sometimes the best message to give to your clients. They will respect you for hammering the basics for when it comes time to complete harder ones, they'll make it look easy.
I have never been in the gym before, and well this piece of kit looks absolutely alien to me, I have just joined a Gym so should be starting in a week or so, I just hope I will be able to improve my fitness despite having an underactive thyroid and being a 16 stone male at almost 24 years old.
This is a good workout for most. I prefer taking it slower and using breathing techniques, engage lower abs first before going into the action. I love TRX training and incorporate the workouts for my men clientele. Thank you, Donna, Pilates Instructor
Sounds like infomercial.and why are they in such a rush?...edit...it got better last half. Disclaimer..I used trx a few years ago in a class. Loved it.
I am in no way down talking the gentlemen training, plus I am aware this video is very old, but I wish he would have slowed his momentum down to allow slow, controlled movements to be presented. I still use TRX as a great addition to my home circuits, and the best results have come when I moved smoothly through the techniques and transitions with controlled intentions. Great video!! TRX and rings are a must have for the Calisthenic lovers! Oss!
I have been working with exercises from Ben Patrick kneesovertoesguy. This looks like a natural progression bringing increased mobility and uniting upper and lower body. And it looks like anyone can do it at their personal level. I'm excited to try TRX.
Nice video. A nice selection of exercises that are described and demonstrated well. I particularly like the fact that the "victim", Pete, is not a ripped fitness model. I felt his pain. As for all the whining about the price of the TRX.... get over it. It takes time, money and dedication to create a product, test it, patent it, advertise and market it. If you don't like that, then make your own or buy a knockoff or join a gym that has TRX just hanging around. Or maybe just type a bunch of insults really, really fast. That should burn 2-3 calories.
thanks - I was 41 when we shot this; had back surgery when I was 27 was told I wouldn't be able to squat or do other things again - I forgot to listen. fitness and exercise is about enjoying the process - NOT achieving some sort of media-driven, extrinsic appearance.
Don't discount this workout - I've been through the training to teach it, and it's adaptable to ALL levels of fitness - including using the straps to help older folks learn how to stand up again - unless you've tried this, don't knock it.... (one caveat, if you have shoulder issues, you will have to modify certain exercises, but overall, this works really well to increase your strength and flexibility...)
+justdriveshesaid I agree with you. So many think you have to pump the iron to get strong and fit. Not true. I'm a trainer and I find using the TRX gives me a fantastic workout. It develops a different kind of strength just like bodyweight exercises does.
I work at a pretty high volume fitness facility and the TRX program has failed after just 2 years. The members just don't want to pay extra on top of membership. Are facilities still charging extra or have they incorporated it into their fees? I personally love the trx.
This video was great for my hips, ahhhh writing this comment is really good for my hip flexors if I’ve been posting comments on you tube all day. I can really feel this sarcasm on my hip flexor wow
Many years ago I was a member of the SAS for a while. I now live in California and I have stage Iv prostrate cancer. As a result of the anti cancer treatment I have gained 40lbs. I hate being a fat bastard so I’ve just bought a TRX as well as a new mountain bike. I am determined to lose those 40lbs before I snuff it. I think for me the TRX is the way to go. Who Dares Wins
I've been a bodybuilder for 30 years. The key to big muscles is resistance not weight. Your muscles don't know the difference. Weights are good but this engages your back and core constantly. Look around in the gym and you'll see so many 5 plus year guys big, rounded shoulders hunched over with very little shoulder griddle/upper chest definition.
+vanbuddha I am a few years up on you in the bb game and totally agree. I prefer training anywhere else but a Designer gym. Old school has moved someplace and forgot to tell me Where )))) This generation's enthusiasts have lost the plot somewhat but injuries are great teachers. Whether bb will ever return to that ''No pain No gain'' status- i doubt it. People in general just dont the balls any more
vanbuddha 35 years under the iron... I switched to weighted suspension training a year ago.... No bigger than I was, but DAMN I'm a whole ton more agile and overall stronger
Dean Waller hello Dean i read that you have many years and i have a question...please can you explain me how should i take my supplement of bcaa, glutamine and tri aminos? should i purchase nitric oxide?? im a female as i am trying to get back my old shape and should i increase weight when doing weight machines gym?? thanks in advance
i first shit on the trx trying and really not feeling it that was 5 yrs ago and now i live it. i feel better and stronger with it i rarely do weights now. body and gravity does a lot. i explain when do you really need to lift 500lbs almost never or rarely and you usually have someone helping.
I prefer 2 straps with 2 different anchors, sometimes with door anchor or door pull-up bar and sometimes loop straps around a mop handle for floating anchors. anchors can be at any height including anchored to bottom of door. BE FLEXIBLE!!! Be careful with door pull-up bar, preferably at handles instead of middle of bar. Try resistance band too for greater flexibility.
Please, sell TRX in Brazil!! We’re are eager to work out using it!! Lot of false brands selling here and make good money, I prefer pay a little bit more and have the quality of the original one.
It's clear that an effective personal trainer must have mastery of: 1) biomechanics and exercise science 2) motivation and interpersonal skills 3) sadism
Great Product Randy, cool story to go with the product. I’m just looking into TRX at the moment, I haven’t purchased one at the moment but I’m definitely going to, the workouts look great 👍
this is a very good piece of equipment but I also feel that it should be mixed in with conventional exercises as well and not used as your only piece of workout equipment
That burpee is a great way to blow out your meniscus! My knees hurt just watching him. These are very advanced movements. As he said in the beginning “elite”. Modify, modify to prevent injury. God Bless
@@RobertTarmac Are you being sarcastic? Many of the movements in the vid can be done using a doorway as the anchor point. For example, knee tucks, pikes and mountain climbers, also chest presses and flys and pulling movements such as rows and reverse flys. Give it a try!
I was introduced to trx in 1999 in the military from a shipmate in a uso my back got so ripped and tight. I got the nickname ropeman because I am tight like a rope I am 53 now and still tight like a rope
Invention? TRX is just same as gymnastic rings. It is nothing new, but copied.

Some people will always find a reason to complain.
Negativity must be from those who haven't trained on TRX yet.
For those who have not trained TRX will say anything but us who know wat it takes we are ok with Randy.
Great bit of kit. I used mine today. 4 weeks out of shoulder surgery. Great for rehab and mobility also. 👍🏻
Awesome - just got mine and love discovering it's invented by a high school classmate - go Randy!!!
I'm a "TRX Qualified" trainer and I've used TRX as a supplement to other classes as well, everybody that has tried TRX suspension training really likes it.
Wow, what a great workout! Now that we are all stuck at home due to Coronavirus, I've started using my TRX more!
me 2! i do trx only now
same haha
I bought kettler sling trainer pro because of quarantined..
Me too, the door attachment is awesome!

Awesome! LOVE hearing that. Pete
lol they aren't gonna like it! they will give you bad looks
For a beginner breaking into advanced workouts, I think this exact video is a great example. For advanced individuals working to get into a professional sphere, I think these exercises, done with more intense reps and sets, make for a great workout as well!
Best part of TRX? Infinite angles and planes of motion, to do body weight exercises or a getting a great stretch! Changed my life!
I have bodylastic bands and love them. This is a little different and I will add this to my regime. I can see this is awesome for my age of 64. Great stuff. Thaks.

Congratulation great thanks from Italy
I use these for Pelican Curls are they are a massive boon to bicep growth.
I love TRX. I am really hooked on TRX. Randy, a million times thank you.
Hey Simeon,
TRX is a balanced core workout tool. Last I checked bench workouts don't touch the core very much. Bench is old school meathead workout. Also, bench doesn't do much for metabolic rate.
This is the best I’ve ever seen by far! This workout will get my body in shape FOR SURE!! 🦾👌🏼
Brilliant! Flogged him in like 10 minutes. Thanks for this video, its fascinating to see the creator of the TRX showing us how to use it.
I have been using a homemade TRX I made recently and it works great. I will have to give that squat a try. Today is leg day; so this looks like a good opportunity to try it out. Those exercises with the foot straps look interesting. At some point I may have to add some foot straps to my DIY TRX.
The TRX is a torture device... That's why I love it. The workout you hate doing gives you the best results!
Facts! LOL!!! I did a full workout today and it was awesomely turrrble!
Just started my TRX journey good for hybrid athletes I bodybuild and do this had a total gym this reminds my muscles of that
The beauty of the TRX system is the simplicity, especially for those of us who travel. Secure it to a door and you're in business. No moving parts, just yours.
Glad about this Video! We have a few TRXs at the gym but I do not know how to Use them--Thank You!
Just installed my trx pro and loving it great invention
Great workout and instruction. Love the TRX and great to see it’s possibilities on this video. Great work guys!
This is amazing ,TRX is the best.
Awesome video. I love my TRX . This opened my mind up to some new stuff. Thank you ❤

Thank you Randy for mi TRX, i got it as a gift on my last birthday
Really enjoyed this video and will use it for training clients this week.
I will definitely get this now!! Looks amazing!
I was introduced to this system at a fitness center. It was challenging from the beginning and after a year the results were amazing. Any ideas as to setting this system up at home?
Is you have a tree or any stable frame (like a house) you can use trx.
@@leondelafonte lol... A house! Yes, I ponder how to attach my contraption to my house...inside, and in the garage. 🤨🧐🔨👀
Did my first TRX class at my local gym on Fri...definitely gets the heart pumping, and I am still sore 2 days later!!

Randy.. Buenos días.! Te cuento me encanta TRX 👍🏻. Recién practicando.! Excelente tu video.! Saludos desde mi País Argentina 🇦🇷.
This is really good for advanced fitness because your form IS the workout.
dude is so legit and Navy Seal? damn ridiculous! great video!
Just bought mine - hitting it everyday!
It's the PERFECT tool for home workouts! Pete.
Great video just bought my trx and tried a few of the excercises as practice I can really feel muscle engagement. I think this will be a winner! 😊

I have re-evaluated the trx, 3 weeks ago, I gave a bad review. I took the time to get used to this, it is actually a pretty good workout!
I tried and used both, The rings are the best.
thanks, I am always looking for more workout ideas....
challenging
Yes. It. Was. Pete
Got my TRX last week and love it.I had one made by a company that rhymes with Floss.Trx in my opinion is much better quality.I am 72 and loving it.

+justdriveshesaid I agree with you. So many think you have to pump the iron to get strong and fit. Not true. I'm a trainer and I find using the TRX gives me a fantastic workout. It develops a different kind of strength just like bodyweight exercises does.
I work at a pretty high volume fitness facility and the TRX program has failed after just
2 years. The members just don't want to pay extra on top of membership.
Are facilities still charging extra or have they incorporated it into their fees?
I personally love the trx.
Some excellent TRX movements here. It was great to see the TRX’s full potential.
This is an awesome workout, can't wait to try it.
This video was great for my hips, ahhhh writing this comment is really good for my hip flexors if I’ve been posting comments on you tube all day. I can really feel this sarcasm on my hip flexor wow
All I can say is that you have to try it. Its is an awesome workout compact and effective.
This is my favorite video
I know! And fat bellies with no core strength and big arms and no legs that will be all the negative people you see commenting!!
Purchased some hardware and straps to make my own suspension system. Saved lots of money.
I went to walmart and bought one for $14.00 works just as good lol
superb, love it. you have this 56+ yr young motivated
one of the best thing ever invented
i first shit on the trx trying and really not feeling it that was 5 yrs ago and now i live it. i feel better and stronger with it i rarely do weights now. body and gravity does a lot. i explain when do you really need to lift 500lbs almost never or rarely and you usually have someone helping.
Thanks a lot, Mr. Hetrick. I already own Perfect Pushups platforms, which are also designed by a Navy Seal.
i have one i like it, but i wonder muscle atrophy seems not achievable with this?
Great video! Good workout Randy
God Bless
Muscle memory won't remember these from the 90s.
Whoohoo great stuff. I'm thinking the what u showed here can pretty much replace tabata sprints. HIIT and strength all in one.
RAndy you are a Boss sir!!!! Thanks for protecting our country! oh and thanks for trx :)
They are always anchored up high in the videos...
How well do they work with low anchor points like top of a doorway?
Did you find the answer?
@@petercohen3966 It's obviously not quite as versatile as off a high frame, but doorway works good enough for me :)
@@DennisBrown1 thx
@@RobertTarmac Are you being sarcastic? Many of the movements in the vid can be done using a doorway as the anchor point. For example, knee tucks, pikes and mountain climbers, also chest presses and flys and pulling movements such as rows and reverse flys. Give it a try!
I was introduced to trx in 1999 in the military from a shipmate in a uso my back got so ripped and tight. I got the nickname ropeman because I am tight like a rope I am 53 now and still tight like a rope
Go Pete !! I feel it too.
thank you
