- These baby beavers are the best of friends and cuddle up really close! Holley rehabilitates beavers for release but beavers are social, and luckily Tater and Turnip got paired up. And it was love at first sight, the two have become like brothers and help each other get ready for the next stage in their adventure

Dr. Holly Muraco is an absolute super woman for all she does! She really needs some love and support, recently one of her beavers didn't make it and she is crushed. She's taking a break from posting but I'm sure some kind comments and knowing there's still a beaver loving community would help! ❤

@@sarahmitchell821 for all of us. One of the other beavers Tulip was pretty attached. It's a difficult reality of trying to rehab animals.
@@pamhutson475 I have been crying with the whole community. She was doing so well, I can only imagine how Holly feels, but I am sure she appreciates all the support. She still has a whole host of other rescue animals that need her.
It is so hard to loose those you love. Animals hold such a special place in my heart personally. I completely understand the heartache that occurs when something like that happens. I realized there is never enough time with those we love. We just have to do our best and show them how much we love them while they are with us, even if it’s for just a short time. Holly I’m so sorry for your loss. Give yourself some grace you deserve that!❤️

@@MixedChick1 Yes. I follow her TH-cam channel. Tater and Turnip are her previous rescues. She was alarmed as she had not planned on releasing them yet. And over night they were gone. But she consulted with an expert and the expert said that beavers will do this when they feel they're ready.
She tracked one or both of them (I forget) to where they'd settled. I think it was somewhere on her property. That's the last I've heard her mention them.
Her current rescues are Tulip and Stormy Rose. In a horrible loss, the baby, Petunia, up and died this week. That was so sad. She'd introduced Tulip (who's older) and Petunia. Tulip was really mothering Petunia. The videos of them together are so cute.
Holley Muraco is the name of her channel if you want to watch the videos. She's pretty devastated by Petunia's loss so she said she'll be taking a break from posting for a while. Normally she posts multiple times a week. Sometimes daily.

@@kevinheath7588they opened their enclosure and set themselves free. Holly has 3 females now, Tulip, Petunia, and Stormy. Before Tater and Turnip there was Huck, Finn, and Sawyer.

Dr Holley does not just rehab for 2 years - it is ongoing for her. As well as being a Uni prof in marine biology, she gives talks about wildlife to local groups and media. If you view the Holley Muraco channel, her fam also rehab parrots, dogs and cats.
Considering that she seems to have been doing for a while and rescuing many animals, it's much more than just 2 years.

These Beaver Bros are so sweet. I honestly wonder if there is any higher calling than rescuing and rehabilitating wild life.
I have such respect for people who do this work…it’s not easy. Some animals don’t make it which must tear the heart out of the caretaker. We’ve also had rescued dogs and one came to,us in just horrific condition due to the lack of care she’d received. We did everything we could for her but didn’t make it and we were just devastated. Years later it still hurts. At least she had the experience of gentle, loving care.
Kudos. Holley Muraco and her fam also rehab dogs, cats and parrots. The leader of the pack is an African Grey. Her channel is always interesting.

I imagine that is a big stress relief for the caretaker, and of course for the beavers, to be released with a sibling vs. going out into the wide world alone.

Since you've inprinted on them, is release even possible? They have no idea what dangers they will face in the wild, as well as no longer fearing humans, they most certainly could not survive very long, not usually. At least it's that way with other wild animals. Is it the same for beavers?

These are wild animals. They are not pets. As cute as they are, their contact with humans should be limited and must live in the wild, in their natural habitat. Not getting belly rubs. Cats and dogs are for belly rubs…
Dr Holley is not only a rehabber she is recognised internationally as a marine biologist.
@@Christian.28 they are not pets and Dr. Muraco always says she absolutely doesn't recommend having them as pets. Baby beavers need a family to grow up and she acts as a mother figure for them; beavers imprint on smell and not on all humans, so Dr. Muraco's beavers will always recognize only her, but will be wary of every other human, so the risk of them being too accustomed to humans is nonexistent. Dr. Muraco is a very expert wildlife rehabber, she knows what she's doing.
If people didn't keep wild animals as pets we wouldn't have dogs.

That's really cool. Serious question? Have you ever heard of operation beaver drop? True story. If you haven't heard of it you should look it up. The USA relocated a bunch of wild beaver by parachute. I think like 75 or something along that number
