1990 was the year that I left school. The music was good with a bit of everything getting into the charts and acid house was also in the background about to explode into the mainstream of EDM.
Classics like Ice Ice Baby, U Can't Touch This, Hold On, We Want the Same Thing, All Together Now, Hangin Tough, Kingston Town, The Joker, Unchained Melody, and more featured on this album!
Bought my first book version with this one. I might upgrade my '92 version, just for completions sake. The first two CD's are pretty good and really take me back to being about 14/15! The first half of CD3 was really not to my taste though, but that always tends to be the way with these compilations. I'll play CD4 tomorrow, while I continue my DIY work.
Snap! - The Power & Betty Boo - Where Are You Baby? may be the album versions. This list gives you what is new to Now and what was previously only on Hits. Up until now Whitney Houston - I'm Your Baby Tonight hasn't been on a Now compilation, there are a few other premieres as well, New Kids On The Block - Hangin' Tough. The rival Hits albums seemed quite weak at the time of Now 17 & Now 18 in 1990 but at the time they prevented the series from having that is on this. Alannah Myles - Black Velvet (Snap It Up! Monster Hits 2 (Hits Album 12)) The B52's - Love Shack (Snap It Up! Monster Hits 2 (Hits Album 12)) En Vogue - Hold On (Snap It Up! Monster Hits 2 (Hits Album 12)) Halo James - Could Have Told You So (Snap It Up! Monster Hits 2 (Hits Album 12)) They Might Be Giants- Birdhouse In Your Soul (Snap It Up! Monster Hits 2 (Hits Album 12)) New Order - World In Motion (Snap It Up! Monster Hits 2 (Hits Album 12)) Deee-Lite- Groove Is In The Heart (The Hit Pack (Hits Album 13) Betty Boo - Doin' The Do (Snap It Up! Monster Hits 2 (Hits Album 12)) Maria McKee - Show Me Heaven (The Hit Pack (Hits Album 13) Guru Josh - Infinity (Snap It Up! Monster Hits 2 (Hits Album 12)) The Family Stand - Ghetto Heaven (Snap It Up! Monster Hits 2 (Hits Album 12)) Some of these were later on 10th Anniversary/Millennium Series thoigh. Other new songs George Michael - Praying For Time Chris Isaak - Wicked Game Jon Bon Jovi - Blaze of Glory Faith No More - Epic Skid Row - 18 and Life The Human League - Heart Like a Wheel Bananarama - Only Your Love Dusty Springfield - Reputation Jason Donavan - Hang On To Your Love Martika - More Than You Know New Kids On The Block - Tonight Adam Ant - Room At The Top Paul Simon - The Obvious Child Julee Cruise - Falling Duran Duran - Violence of Summer (Love's Taking Over) Pet Shop Boys - Being Boring Soul II Soul - A Dream's a Dream (but 12 in' mix was on Now Dance 902) Innocence - Natural Thing The Stone Roses - One Love Maxi Priest - Close To You (not new to Now on Now Reggae)
I hope they eventually bring out all the years from 1970 to 1999 - with the Millennium ones, they could make a good party mix or - having put them on an MP3 player - playing in the car! Elton John did get to number one with Don’t Go Breaking My Heart - but it was a duet with Kiki Dee - Kiki Dee still has yet to top the charts in her own right! Ben Liebrand is pronounced Lee-brand, Leila K is pronounced Layla! Feat means featuring! Al-arna Myles - not Alarnia! Martika - think chicken tikka!
Got it acquired myself and now got the entire Yearbook family! Now awaiting Millennium '04-'05! And bring on '90 Extra!
