I kind of figure part of the reason Amethyst adapted to her enhancement was because she knew Bismuth for such an incredibly short time, and in that time thought she was so cool, and perhaps could see herself looking up to Bismuth, so she kept it as sort of an homage, a reminder.
Another reason Amethyst might've opted to adapt her weapon is due to her desire to be stronger. This is a pretty big focus of her arc, so maybe that's why? Though, that'd depend on if she actually used it consistently afterwards.
Something this made me wonder is if Stevens shield is stronger than Rose's. If the energy used to maintain a weapon, is the same that maintains their body wouldn't Stevens Gem have more energy to give his shield, as his body (presumably) is mostly organic and does not utilise the Gem in its entirety?
I feel like Steven would only really be able to be more powerful than Rose once he's older though, since he's still learning and growing. (Good theory btw)
Harrington Little - You nailed it! The "Love and Light" theory had been my go to for a while now. Most religions/philosophies touch on the nature of love and light as being the cornerstone to spirituality and life. Refer to the sayings "God is Light; God is Love" or the meaning of the Buddhist salutation, "Sending Light and Love". They fall in line with the main crux of the show... Steven is the savior, he is made up of the best parts of Humans and Gems: Love and Light. Humans taught gems about love and autonomy; concepts forbidden in gem society, because personhood in a closed society can lead the oppressed to rebel. "Light" is the soul of a gem. It's what gives everything, including Gems, a form. Love leads to fusion, which is a marriage of souls/light. This ultimately explains why Rose created Steven... he is the best of both worlds, human love and gem light. This makes him, by our real world religious standards, a savior and a God. He is the pinnicle of a peaceful ideal, showing others that Love conquers all.
*Harrington Little* I had the same thought about Danny Phantom and Vlad Plasmius, and why they were so much stronger than regular ghosts because they didn't need to expend any energy keeping their bodies together since their human half did it for them so the power was free to be used elsewhere.

That's where their information is stored. Something would have to connect to that information, either directly or remotely, to change it. That's not what Bismuth's weapon extensions did. To address your example directly, Pearl's and Garnet's eyes didn't react like Pearl's eyes reacted when she connected to the ship. Plus, they were made of solid metal. No tech in them.

One thing I've been confused about for a while regarding weapons is, if not all gems can summon weapons, why would a Pearl, of all gems, be designed with that capability? Rubies and Quartzes make sense to be able to do this because they're made for combat, but why would a Pearl, which has no function other than serving high-class gems, be able to do so? Is it an innate gem ability that characters like Bismuth and Peridot simply haven't developed? It's confusing.
mdudegamer I think it could be taught, which is why Peridot hasn't used one yet. It's possible she was lied to about the shortage of materials and never taught how to summon a weapon to keep "lesser gems" in line. The first thing dictators do is take away weapons from citizens.

in case of an emergency, the last line of defense for a leader would be their closest servants. it would make sense for pearls to offer their lives if a diamond was ever threatened.
Jello Diamond I think they all have some ability that can function for defense and offense, but it won't always be in the form of a tangible weapon. Like Lapis with water manipulation and metal manipulation with Peridot.
I see another reason it could be. Garnet and Pearl were closer to Bismuth and I can see them choosing not to use the enhancements out of some conflict or depression. Amethyst was not as close, and also feeling very conflicted in wanted to beat Jasper, so she would come out swinging as hard as she could.
I would love a Bismuth video where she gets to know Peridot and makes a weapon for her, but it could also create a scene where Bismuth learns she can create things that aren't weapons because she doesn't find any of the classic "weapons" what Peridot needs. (maybe to re-create her enhancements).
I've always figured Gems naturally had some kind semi-telepathic ability. Eyeball was able to talk to Steven in the vacuum of space from outside his bubble, plus a space-faring race needing air to communicate but not to breathe seems unlikely.
I basically saw it a little along the lines of that last theory you mentioned. The weapons does not exist physically, but the information they are comprised of does. When Bismuth upgrades their weapons it is essecially the same as taking out a stick of ram from a computer, extending it and then putting it back in. Now, Pearl and Garnet has decided not to use that expansion, relying on the information that was there in the first place, but the new is still there as an option.

When you mentioned Bismuth changing the actual gem data, it got me thinking - and you actually touched on this. What if she doesn't change the data, but the gems can choose to change the data? Like a new program installed to a computer changes the data the computer has.
you can see the additional part to pearl's spear change color to the same white light that was on the original handle and blade. so i think bismuth somehow made the attachments to essentially fuse with the base weapon
I always thought that they were able to store the weapon enhancements as information. This would allow them to duplicate the enhancements like amethyst does in earthlings. They would summon them similar to how a 3D printer creates objects. It takes some code and is able to recreate it in real life.
the objects pearl stores in her gem pocket are relatively small in size (the biggest we see is the mirror). the weapon enhancements are small enough that they could be stored. On what you said about the warp pads, the warp pads arent as complex as a gem itself. if the gems are their brains essentially, even if its more computer based, why should their technology have the same powers as the gems? If the warps were powered by gems. This doesnt account for amethysts double whip, but what if having the enhancement stored allows the gems to scan and copy the enhancement, so if amethyst were to remove the enhancement, she could no longer use it

We also see in that episode that Pearl has changed her spear in the past to match her fighting style, as now she can shoot light projectiles out of it. We see this when Bismuth says "lasers? When did that happen?"
my theory is basicly the same, the enhancements she gives are just templates to be wrapped around by the original weapon so they can adjust the shape and scan it in as a secondary form of their weapons, like how a computer can scan a document through a scanner/printer as a template for later use, making copies without the need of the original through the template. it came to mind when rewatching jailbreak when peridot and pearl control the ship their eyes look like the computer screens in the matrix, maybe gems act like a computer, maybe that's why some gems can be repurposed/reprogramed to be powersources and it gives more meaning to being corrupted.
gems can replicate things with a special duplicator, maybe they can also do that with their body but just on a smaller scale, or maybe they can just use them whenever they want to because they have learned how to summon their weapons with them
I think if we approach it from an RPG gameplay perspective, let's say that Bismuth gave them the training or blueprints for the enhancements, but that in order to summon the enhanced weapons requires an additional level of energy, ie the effort to deviate from the default is more. Amethyst would like to show off, and also potentially get used to this new whip. Even if there is no real change in requirements, it is possible that the others have simply never had a real need for the enhancements, both Pearl and Garnets seem like they would alter the way their weapons functions, and so it would be used on a case by case basis.
It could be possible that garnet and pearls weapons have been improved multiple times wich is why their not making such a big deal out of it, maybe pearl started out with a regular sword and garnet with brass knuckles or something, maybe bismuth has already upgraded their weapons several times to a point where they're happy with it
I believe you should do an update on this video if you have not done so already because as of now we do know that at least pearl has a lot of Spears sorted in her gem. Garnet is shown to do the same thing. I mean it might not give you a lot to change about the video so obviously just going into the audio for this video and adding the thought that maybe the original trident and pointed gauntlets are just sorted away in a place in there gems where they keep there memories of bismuth.
Garnet has never been shown to store physical weapons in her gem. And all that that scene of Pearl told us is that she pre-makes her spear. There is still more than enough evidence for me to say with certainty that Gem don't typically store their weapons in their gems. Maybe if there weren't then I would see a point in updating this.
AJ Universe I should have made myself more clear when I mentioned garnet. I more so was mentioning the fact that she can summon items from her gem so storing copies of her weapon would not be a far cry to assume. There was a few other TH-camrs you mentioned this as a fact and in one TH-cam video it was mentioned as a could it be possible for steaven to go into garnets gem for whatever reason. But after reading your comment I do agree with you there is really very little evidence to state that all of the gems have weapons inside there gem the same way pearl does.
I think that the gems can store their enhancements in a pocket dimencion like pearl does when she shows steven the lapis-mirror or when they put police tape at the moss lake or when pearl gives connie the bandage for her hands. When they summon their weapons they summon the enhancements from their pocket dimension at the same time. ( althoug i don't know how amethyst could dublicate her enhancements)
7:28 Another reason why Amethyst used the enhancements and not the other two is because Amethyst felt as if she needed to prove herself as an amethyst, who are known for fighting.. She was always called defective, so she wanted to be stronger in any way, including enhancing her whip (See what i'm getting at?) so she uses Bismuth's enhancements for her whip, hoping she would be stronger, but after watching the episode where she rematches Jasper in the beta kindergarten, it doesn't work but steven does his speech thing that makes people feel better and afterwards she stops using the enhancements because she doesn't feel as if she has anything to prove to anyone anymore and she feels at ease with herself edit: i also wonder what would happen to jasper if she was unbubbled and reformed (because she was becoming corrupted before) any ideas?
Rather than just saying, "it's magic!", I would suggest that gem bodies and weapons are expressions of a gem's inherent sense of self. Upon receiving the weapon enhancements from Bismuth, the gems actually incorporate those gifts (not the actual physical weapon enhancement, but rather the emotion and energy that Bismuth gives to them through the act of creating and gifting the new weapon to them).
I think you're probably right on most of it, but for a small portion at the back end. The reason might not be that Garnet and Pearl felt betrayed, but that Amythest adapted quicker to the new enhancements. It would make sense that Amythest would adapt to the enhancement quicker because she's a fighting gem. This would also mean that the next person to summon their weapon with it would be Garnet, and then Pearl.
Was there any major CG fights after beta? Maybe it wasn't necessary to use the enhancements in any of the events following bismuth. I'm pretty sure the only enemies fought were the rubies (bubbled by lapis) and the fight on the moon (sardonyx fought them off). Some fights with corrupted gems that didn't seem too hard and the recent Steven bomb where everyone was passive outside of the easy holly blue fight. And I can't remember if amethyst used the upgrades at the beginning of the jasper fight but if she didn't than it shows that making these changes may be awkward and isn't always necessary. I could be wrong though my memory is a bit hazy on these events.
Maybe it was amethyst feeling like she needed a power boost fighting jasper, but the other gems haven't felt the need for the boost yet. We could see a return in Steven bomb 6 if they fight against the two new homeworld gems.

If bismuths builds things on homeworld, and all gem structures are made of light/gems (like the water sand timer temple) then bismuths do affect the data of a gem's form.
Theoretically, Gems, being computers, could speak to each other without air. Eyeball didn't need air to talk in Alone Together. However, that doesn't mean there isn't some kind of air in Rose's dimension. The flag and T-shirt on the island sway in the breeze.
I do like the way you approach this topic and I do think that the gem weapons actually consist of 'hard light' as you say, but one idea that I wonder if you've missed is that perhaps the gems are also able to summon physical, human weapons from some place where they store them, in addition to being able to generate their typical light-based ones. I kept waiting for you to talk about one scene in the series in particular, which you didn't touch on, in the end. And that is the scene in Together Breakfast where Steven observes Pearl putting away some weapons she had found in Amethyst's room in the temple in some kind of arsenal in her own room there. This could be an example of a scene that should be excluded from canon because at that early point in production, the logistic ideas surrounding of gem weapons in the show was still being constructed, but I'm not totally convinced that is an acceptable explanation. I wonder, in light of the evidence presented in the Bismuth episode, whether those were really gem weapons at all, or instead physical weapons produced by Bismuth for use in the gem wars, à la Rose's sword. And if so, why store them in her room like that if she doesn't intend to use them occasionally? She could have just abandoned them, just like the weapons we see at the strawberry battlefield. Clearly, it's not like she's trying to keep them away from the eager hands of humans, or else she would need to have cleaned up all the different battleground from the war. Perhaps she sees them as a for a conflict with Homeworld, but I that as, that point in the series, the Chrystal Gems seem to see themselves more as interstellar refugees presumed shattered by the Diamond Authority then as wanted fugitives, as evidenced by the fact that their continued existence seems to be unexpected by all of Homeworld until the gang makes first contact with Peridot. What are your thoughts?
Amethyst also had more fights where her enhancements might have been practical, plus she's more flexible and has the most natural talent for summoning gem weapons
There's also the possibility that they are just add-ons to the weapons. Amethyst knew she was going to fight Jasper, and maybe brought along the add-ons to her whips for the specific reason of hoping to do more damage.
think its a bit of both. remember pearl summoned lapis lazuli's mirror and cordoned tape. just like amethyst is the shapeshifter but they all can do it. I imagine all gems can store, pearl is just better or more diverse. the enhancements attach so well their recall is easier as to all the programming or storage, say, a holopearl would take
The second theory also makes sense to why we hadn't seen them again, besides Amethyst. If they are not physically part of the weapon forever, then it makes sense that Garnet and Pearl would never choose to use them again, as they are still mourning their friend. Amethyst was also close friends with bismuth, but less so because she had just met her, so she would still use her enhancements, but only for situations where she needs the advantage, like say, when she is fighting Jasper. The only question now is, what happened to the physical copies? Are they just lying around somewhere. Truly, it's not an important question but it would be nice to know
Do you think you could do a theory on what you expect to be in Save the Light, like maybe what type of gem would have stolen the prism, as an example, I think while we are waiting if you aren't busy with other subjects it would be a novel idea.
i don't know about the not being able to desummon the weapon with weapon enhancements cause if you look closely you see that in amethyst still has her weapon enhancements until her fight with jasper where they are smashed onto his chest leaving the purple powder that he than wipes off... and we never once see amethyst attach the things back on, they do however are always on her diamond end of the wip (making them circle shaped) but deactivated (they remain circle shaped with bumps but not spikes).
I like this. I kinda view Gem weapons as being like the patronus from Harry Potter; yours isn't something you consciously choose, but rather it's a reflection of who you are. Warrior gems get to summon one by default since that's what they're made for, but non-warriors like Pearl(and possibly Rose) would have to learn how to summon one. That's why Pearl doesn't have her spear in the flashback of 'The Answer', she's using a very physical, non-light sword. It would also explain why Pearl's eventual weapon wouldn't be a sword, even if she has such an affinity for them. The spear is more true to her and her fighting style. I think this idea also lends credence to why Pearl was in such awe of the fact that Steven summoned a shield in the first episode. She didn't say "It's Rose's shield", she just said "It's /a/ shield". While the out of universe reason is probably that the writers just hadn't quite worked out the significance of Rose's shield yet, in universe you could explain it as her being amazed that Steven, who is a distinct person from Rose, still got the same weapon out of the lottery of Gem weapons that Rose did. It highlighted his connection to his mother, which was probably quite moving for Pearl.
I do not recall fully where this idea came from, maybe a reddit or one of the comics, but maybe Gems are like crystal computers with who they are and what they are being their data, and so the weapon enhancements are like new pieces of code downloaded and installed to be used whenever they want/need. At least that's how I reason it, after all corrupted gems have a glitch like distortion and their damage could be akin to an error in their code. Then again they are magical aliens from another world so maybe its just literal magic
The only thing I question the teleportation thing on is the gems themselves -- the Crystal Gems can teleport the poofed gems, which is transmitting physical items (unless you infer that the gems are a special kind of matter that can more easily be transported, but then wouldn't you be able to theoretically use teleportation to recreate or fix gems?). I think that the character conclusion you reach is the most reasonable, though. Thanks for the theory!

So if the gem's weapons are made of light like the actual gems does that mean that the gems can fuse with their weapons because I would love to see pearl as a spear. Her nose would be the point of the spear but I honestly think that the point of her spear is less pointy than her actual nose.
It'd be interesting if Bismuth's coloration implied any relation to her race's capabilities. Gem population goes hand in hand with mysterious extraterrestrial light, and rainbows imply a spectrum.
I think that the copying and replicating matter theory has more credence than you gave it. in Season 1, Steven gets Pearl's replicator wand, an item which copies and solid objects, so we know it's within gem technology to be able to do. We also know that gem items can be given intrinsic gem abilities, a la the Warp Whistle. So, it may be possible that gems can store and replicate small items like the weapon enhancers and Pearl's tape, which she has done twice, once as caution tape, and once to bind Connie's hands. Not using the weapons after feeling like Bismuth betrayed them still applies, but this may open up the previous theory a bit.

I feel like gems as a species are somewhat comparable to computers. Gems might have "coding" for there bodies and weapons stored in their gemstones So bismuths weapon upgrades could be considered like a software update, something that a gem can scan and apply to their own code.

Speaking of weapons, do you have a theory as to why Homeworld gem weapons seems to be made of crystals (Jasper's crash helmet, Topaz hammers, Eyeball's knife) while the Crystal Gems' are more "organic" (as in they look like Earth weapons). Perhaps because of Bismuth? Make sense as Amethyst's whip has crystal tips.
AJ Universe I didn't see those. but they still feel different to me. HW weapons seem to be predominantly crystal while CG weapons are garnished with crystal. In fact, if you look at the fusion weapons, the Crystal garnishes seems to mostly or entirely disappear.

All of the the gem's attachments to me seemed helpful accept for Pearl's. Amethyst has more weight at the end of her whips, Garnet has a penetrative quality to her gauntlets, and Steven had a gem slayer before throwing it away(which I don't think was necessarily a good choice), but what exactly does the tridenty thing do?
Not sure if this helps but there's an issue in the Steven Universe comics that shows the inside of Pearl's gem. What happens is that Steven and Connie are having a yard sale for the library and Pearl thinks it's a mess, so she puts everything in her gem. I can search for the comic and give you the specific issue, tho it might take a while because I'm moving.
The fact that Amethyst can adapt her weapon, unlike Pearl or Garnet, might be a comment on the theory that gems grown on Earth can change and adapt more than gems necessarily are supposed to, it is what gave Rose the strength to not only wage war against the Diamonds and create Steven, both things considered inconceivable until she did them, but also to gain more powers over time, explaining why she had powers other Rose Quartzes did not, like healing. An extension of this theory is the Pink Diamond was created on Earth, and that is why she is the more Defective version of Red Diamond, because Earth changes you. Not all theories are mine, I just like them all going together, sorry I don't know who made them
Okay but what about Rose's Sword? Its a material weapon that Connie has materialized at all times. It doesn't disappear when Rose or Steven aren't concentrating on it.

One thing I've been confused about for a while regarding weapons is, if not all gems can summon weapons, why would a Pearl, of all gems, be designed with that capability? Rubies and Quartzes make sense to be able to do this because they're made for combat, but why would a Pearl, which has no function other than serving high-class gems, be able to do so? Is it an innate gem ability that characters like Bismuth and Peridot simply haven't developed? It's confusing.

mdudegamer I think it could be taught, which is why Peridot hasn't used one yet. It's possible she was lied to about the shortage of materials and never taught how to summon a weapon to keep "lesser gems" in line. The first thing dictators do is take away weapons from citizens.

in case of an emergency, the last line of defense for a leader would be their closest servants. it would make sense for pearls to offer their lives if a diamond was ever threatened.
Jello Diamond I think they all have some ability that can function for defense and offense, but it won't always be in the form of a tangible weapon. Like Lapis with water manipulation and metal manipulation with Peridot.
I see another reason it could be. Garnet and Pearl were closer to Bismuth and I can see them choosing not to use the enhancements out of some conflict or depression. Amethyst was not as close, and also feeling very conflicted in wanted to beat Jasper, so she would come out swinging as hard as she could.
I would love a Bismuth video where she gets to know Peridot and makes a weapon for her, but it could also create a scene where Bismuth learns she can create things that aren't weapons because she doesn't find any of the classic "weapons" what Peridot needs. (maybe to re-create her enhancements).

I've always figured Gems naturally had some kind semi-telepathic ability. Eyeball was able to talk to Steven in the vacuum of space from outside his bubble, plus a space-faring race needing air to communicate but not to breathe seems unlikely.

I basically saw it a little along the lines of that last theory you mentioned. The weapons does not exist physically, but the information they are comprised of does. When Bismuth upgrades their weapons it is essecially the same as taking out a stick of ram from a computer, extending it and then putting it back in. Now, Pearl and Garnet has decided not to use that expansion, relying on the information that was there in the first place, but the new is still there as an option.

When you mentioned Bismuth changing the actual gem data, it got me thinking - and you actually touched on this. What if she doesn't change the data, but the gems can choose to change the data? Like a new program installed to a computer changes the data the computer has.
you can see the additional part to pearl's spear change color to the same white light that was on the original handle and blade. so i think bismuth somehow made the attachments to essentially fuse with the base weapon
I always thought that they were able to store the weapon enhancements as information. This would allow them to duplicate the enhancements like amethyst does in earthlings. They would summon them similar to how a 3D printer creates objects. It takes some code and is able to recreate it in real life.

the objects pearl stores in her gem pocket are relatively small in size (the biggest we see is the mirror). the weapon enhancements are small enough that they could be stored.
On what you said about the warp pads, the warp pads arent as complex as a gem itself. if the gems are their brains essentially, even if its more computer based, why should their technology have the same powers as the gems? If the warps were powered by gems.
This doesnt account for amethysts double whip, but what if having the enhancement stored allows the gems to scan and copy the enhancement, so if amethyst were to remove the enhancement, she could no longer use it

We also see in that episode that Pearl has changed her spear in the past to match her fighting style, as now she can shoot light projectiles out of it. We see this when Bismuth says "lasers? When did that happen?"
my theory is basicly the same, the enhancements she gives are just templates to be wrapped around by the original weapon so they can adjust the shape and scan it in as a secondary form of their weapons, like how a computer can scan a document through a scanner/printer as a template for later use, making copies without the need of the original through the template. it came to mind when rewatching jailbreak when peridot and pearl control the ship their eyes look like the computer screens in the matrix, maybe gems act like a computer, maybe that's why some gems can be repurposed/reprogramed to be powersources and it gives more meaning to being corrupted.
Or.... Amethyst is storing them in her gem (like pearl) and when she takes out her weapon the enhancements attach if she wants it to.
gems can replicate things with a special duplicator, maybe they can also do that with their body but just on a smaller scale, or maybe they can just use them whenever they want to because they have learned how to summon their weapons with them
Hmm... I have an idea for a discussion/theory.
Why do gems have these personal weapons at all?
I think if we approach it from an RPG gameplay perspective, let's say that Bismuth gave them the training or blueprints for the enhancements, but that in order to summon the enhanced weapons requires an additional level of energy, ie the effort to deviate from the default is more. Amethyst would like to show off, and also potentially get used to this new whip. Even if there is no real change in requirements, it is possible that the others have simply never had a real need for the enhancements, both Pearl and Garnets seem like they would alter the way their weapons functions, and so it would be used on a case by case basis.
It could be possible that garnet and pearls weapons have been improved multiple times wich is why their not making such a big deal out of it, maybe pearl started out with a regular sword and garnet with brass knuckles or something, maybe bismuth has already upgraded their weapons several times to a point where they're happy with it
I believe you should do an update on this video if you have not done so already because as of now we do know that at least pearl has a lot of Spears sorted in her gem. Garnet is shown to do the same thing. I mean it might not give you a lot to change about the video so obviously just going into the audio for this video and adding the thought that maybe the original trident and pointed gauntlets are just sorted away in a place in there gems where they keep there memories of bismuth.
Garnet has never been shown to store physical weapons in her gem. And all that that scene of Pearl told us is that she pre-makes her spear. There is still more than enough evidence for me to say with certainty that Gem don't typically store their weapons in their gems. Maybe if there weren't then I would see a point in updating this.
AJ Universe I should have made myself more clear when I mentioned garnet. I more so was mentioning the fact that she can summon items from her gem so storing copies of her weapon would not be a far cry to assume. There was a few other TH-camrs you mentioned this as a fact and in one TH-cam video it was mentioned as a could it be possible for steaven to go into garnets gem for whatever reason. But after reading your comment I do agree with you there is really very little evidence to state that all of the gems have weapons inside there gem the same way pearl does.

A Gem couldn't reform in a small box. A Gem cannot reform in any space smaller than their body.
I think that the gems can store their enhancements in a pocket dimencion like pearl does when she shows steven the lapis-mirror or when they put police tape at the moss lake or when pearl gives connie the bandage for her hands. When they summon their weapons they summon the enhancements from their pocket dimension at the same time. ( althoug i don't know how amethyst could dublicate her enhancements)
7:28 Another reason why Amethyst used the enhancements and not the other two is because Amethyst felt as if she needed to prove herself as an amethyst, who are known for fighting.. She was always called defective, so she wanted to be stronger in any way, including enhancing her whip (See what i'm getting at?) so she uses Bismuth's enhancements for her whip, hoping she would be stronger, but after watching the episode where she rematches Jasper in the beta kindergarten, it doesn't work but steven does his speech thing that makes people feel better and afterwards she stops using the enhancements because she doesn't feel as if she has anything to prove to anyone anymore and she feels at ease with herself
edit: i also wonder what would happen to jasper if she was unbubbled and reformed (because she was becoming corrupted before) any ideas?
Rather than just saying, "it's magic!", I would suggest that gem bodies and weapons are expressions of a gem's inherent sense of self. Upon receiving the weapon enhancements from Bismuth, the gems actually incorporate those gifts (not the actual physical weapon enhancement, but rather the emotion and energy that Bismuth gives to them through the act of creating and gifting the new weapon to them).

I think you're probably right on most of it, but for a small portion at the back end. The reason might not be that Garnet and Pearl felt betrayed, but that Amythest adapted quicker to the new enhancements. It would make sense that Amythest would adapt to the enhancement quicker because she's a fighting gem. This would also mean that the next person to summon their weapon with it would be Garnet, and then Pearl.

Was there any major CG fights after beta? Maybe it wasn't necessary to use the enhancements in any of the events following bismuth. I'm pretty sure the only enemies fought were the rubies (bubbled by lapis) and the fight on the moon (sardonyx fought them off). Some fights with corrupted gems that didn't seem too hard and the recent Steven bomb where everyone was passive outside of the easy holly blue fight. And I can't remember if amethyst used the upgrades at the beginning of the jasper fight but if she didn't than it shows that making these changes may be awkward and isn't always necessary. I could be wrong though my memory is a bit hazy on these events.
Maybe it was amethyst feeling like she needed a power boost fighting jasper, but the other gems haven't felt the need for the boost yet. We could see a return in Steven bomb 6 if they fight against the two new homeworld gems.

Sometimes, maybe, but both are pole arms. They function almost the same way in combat. And a trident can actually catch enemy weapons.

Yeah, but we know that most Gem structures are not made of light. That's been clear since the beginning of the series.
Theoretically, Gems, being computers, could speak to each other without air. Eyeball didn't need air to talk in Alone Together.
However, that doesn't mean there isn't some kind of air in Rose's dimension. The flag and T-shirt on the island sway in the breeze.

This brings into question the whole nature of the gem weapons.
I do like the way you approach this topic and I do think that the gem weapons actually consist of 'hard light' as you say, but one idea that I wonder if you've missed is that perhaps the gems are also able to summon physical, human weapons from some place where they store them, in addition to being able to generate their typical light-based ones.
I kept waiting for you to talk about one scene in the series in particular, which you didn't touch on, in the end. And that is the scene in Together Breakfast where Steven observes Pearl putting away some weapons she had found in Amethyst's room in the temple in some kind of arsenal in her own room there. This could be an example of a scene that should be excluded from canon because at that early point in production, the logistic ideas surrounding of gem weapons in the show was still being constructed, but I'm not totally convinced that is an acceptable explanation.
I wonder, in light of the evidence presented in the Bismuth episode, whether those were really gem weapons at all, or instead physical weapons produced by Bismuth for use in the gem wars, à la Rose's sword. And if so, why store them in her room like that if she doesn't intend to use them occasionally? She could have just abandoned them, just like the weapons we see at the strawberry battlefield. Clearly, it's not like she's trying to keep them away from the eager hands of humans, or else she would need to have cleaned up all the different battleground from the war. Perhaps she sees them as a for a conflict with Homeworld, but I that as, that point in the series, the Chrystal Gems seem to see themselves more as interstellar refugees presumed shattered by the Diamond Authority then as wanted fugitives, as evidenced by the fact that their continued existence seems to be unexpected by all of Homeworld until the gang makes first contact with Peridot.
What are your thoughts?
Amethyst also had more fights where her enhancements might have been practical, plus she's more flexible and has the most natural talent for summoning gem weapons
So since the weapons are inherent and conceptual, then they can alter them with improvements when provided the inspiration to do so. Interesting.

There's also the possibility that they are just add-ons to the weapons. Amethyst knew she was going to fight Jasper, and maybe brought along the add-ons to her whips for the specific reason of hoping to do more damage.
Then how did she summon them along with her weapon? And summon more than one, when only one exists?

think its a bit of both. remember pearl summoned lapis lazuli's mirror and cordoned tape. just like amethyst is the shapeshifter but they all can do it. I imagine all gems can store, pearl is just better or more diverse. the enhancements attach so well their recall is easier as to all the programming or storage, say, a holopearl would take
The second theory also makes sense to why we hadn't seen them again, besides Amethyst. If they are not physically part of the weapon forever, then it makes sense that Garnet and Pearl would never choose to use them again, as they are still mourning their friend. Amethyst was also close friends with bismuth, but less so because she had just met her, so she would still use her enhancements, but only for situations where she needs the advantage, like say, when she is fighting Jasper. The only question now is, what happened to the physical copies? Are they just lying around somewhere. Truly, it's not an important question but it would be nice to know

Do you think you could do a theory on what you expect to be in Save the Light, like maybe what type of gem would have stolen the prism, as an example, I think while we are waiting if you aren't busy with other subjects it would be a novel idea.
i don't know about the not being able to desummon the weapon with weapon enhancements cause if you look closely you see that in amethyst still has her weapon enhancements until her fight with jasper where they are smashed onto his chest leaving the purple powder that he than wipes off... and we never once see amethyst attach the things back on, they do however are always on her diamond end of the wip (making them circle shaped) but deactivated (they remain circle shaped with bumps but not spikes).
I like this. I kinda view Gem weapons as being like the patronus from Harry Potter; yours isn't something you consciously choose, but rather it's a reflection of who you are. Warrior gems get to summon one by default since that's what they're made for, but non-warriors like Pearl(and possibly Rose) would have to learn how to summon one. That's why Pearl doesn't have her spear in the flashback of 'The Answer', she's using a very physical, non-light sword. It would also explain why Pearl's eventual weapon wouldn't be a sword, even if she has such an affinity for them. The spear is more true to her and her fighting style.
I think this idea also lends credence to why Pearl was in such awe of the fact that Steven summoned a shield in the first episode. She didn't say "It's Rose's shield", she just said "It's /a/ shield". While the out of universe reason is probably that the writers just hadn't quite worked out the significance of Rose's shield yet, in universe you could explain it as her being amazed that Steven, who is a distinct person from Rose, still got the same weapon out of the lottery of Gem weapons that Rose did. It highlighted his connection to his mother, which was probably quite moving for Pearl.
I do not recall fully where this idea came from, maybe a reddit or one of the comics, but maybe Gems are like crystal computers with who they are and what they are being their data, and so the weapon enhancements are like new pieces of code downloaded and installed to be used whenever they want/need. At least that's how I reason it, after all corrupted gems have a glitch like distortion and their damage could be akin to an error in their code. Then again they are magical aliens from another world so maybe its just literal magic
The only thing I question the teleportation thing on is the gems themselves -- the Crystal Gems can teleport the poofed gems, which is transmitting physical items (unless you infer that the gems are a special kind of matter that can more easily be transported, but then wouldn't you be able to theoretically use teleportation to recreate or fix gems?). I think that the character conclusion you reach is the most reasonable, though. Thanks for the theory!

I think that the copying and replicating matter theory has more credence than you gave it. in Season 1, Steven gets Pearl's replicator wand, an item which copies and solid objects, so we know it's within gem technology to be able to do. We also know that gem items can be given intrinsic gem abilities, a la the Warp Whistle. So, it may be possible that gems can store and replicate small items like the weapon enhancers and Pearl's tape, which she has done twice, once as caution tape, and once to bind Connie's hands. Not using the weapons after feeling like Bismuth betrayed them still applies, but this may open up the previous theory a bit.

I feel like gems as a species are somewhat comparable to computers. Gems might have "coding" for there bodies and weapons stored in their gemstones So bismuths weapon upgrades could be considered like a software update, something that a gem can scan and apply to their own code.

Speaking of weapons, do you have a theory as to why Homeworld gem weapons seems to be made of crystals (Jasper's crash helmet, Topaz hammers, Eyeball's knife) while the Crystal Gems' are more "organic" (as in they look like Earth weapons). Perhaps because of Bismuth? Make sense as Amethyst's whip has crystal tips.
Garnet's gauntlets have crystal knuckles. Pearl's spear has a crystal on the handle. I don't really see the difference.
AJ Universe I didn't see those. but they still feel different to me. HW weapons seem to be predominantly crystal while CG weapons are garnished with crystal. In fact, if you look at the fusion weapons, the Crystal garnishes seems to mostly or entirely disappear.

All of the the gem's attachments to me seemed helpful accept for Pearl's. Amethyst has more weight at the end of her whips, Garnet has a penetrative quality to her gauntlets, and Steven had a gem slayer before throwing it away(which I don't think was necessarily a good choice), but what exactly does the tridenty thing do?
Maybe the trident could shoot stronger blasts by all the points shooting energy that combine together at the ends.
Not sure if this helps but there's an issue in the Steven Universe comics that shows the inside of Pearl's gem. What happens is that Steven and Connie are having a yard sale for the library and Pearl thinks it's a mess, so she puts everything in her gem. I can search for the comic and give you the specific issue, tho it might take a while because I'm moving.
The fact that Amethyst can adapt her weapon, unlike Pearl or Garnet, might be a comment on the theory that gems grown on Earth can change and adapt more than gems necessarily are supposed to, it is what gave Rose the strength to not only wage war against the Diamonds and create Steven, both things considered inconceivable until she did them, but also to gain more powers over time, explaining why she had powers other Rose Quartzes did not, like healing. An extension of this theory is the Pink Diamond was created on Earth, and that is why she is the more Defective version of Red Diamond, because Earth changes you.
