    That Comanche is looking good. I did not have the proper respect for these pickups back in the day but I do now. I preferred the old J series at the time. Rust runs rampant in all old Jeeps. My parents bought a 76 SJ and by 82 it was bad, in 84 I stepped through the rear floor pan. So when they bought the 86 XJ its first destination was Ziebart. Whatever they used for undercoating worked. When my parents got rid of that jeep in 93 it had surface rust on all the normal places under a car you would expect but the floor pans work honestly spotless. There were spots on the body panels that were starting to rust but not underneath.

    Absolutely love the Comanche dude. The floors on my XJ were waaaay worse.

    Growing up in Columbus where we had less snow, it’s no surprise almost all old Comanches that are still rolling had Ziebart protection. Nice ride. I’ve always wanted one.

    Great Job,,,My only suggestion is to replace that steering wheel with a tri spoke jeep wheel. Black would be good, they do make a tan wheel and even a wooden wheel would make the interior completly pop,,,but great job with the interior restore

    What a great restoration project. These old MJ's are truly going scarce. its nice to see someone bring one back to life. i have one too that i wanted to rebuild and restore but because of title issues it may not workout for me. if all goes well I will keep the carcass and drivetrain and hopefully get another that i can save.

    You did a great job restoring that Jeep Comanche. IDefinitely a rare truck. picked up a few pointers/ideas watching your video. I am restoring a 1985 Jeep J10 long bed. Mine does not have the rust problem. It does need to be repainted and has some surface rust on the bed and installation of the rebuilt 258 engine with Howell EFI. I will be watching Part 3 of your restoration.

    Terrific video(s)! I just re-purchased my dads 1989 Jeep Comanche (coworker sold it back to me after 7 years). It's in relatively good shape but, due to age, it seems much like yours. The interior smells musty, definitely some moisture inside. After seeing your interior make over, I guess I'll tackle that too! I'm very much a DIY person, Build, fix and repair most things inside and out, but I've never been a "car guy". Can you rate level of difficulty for this interior make over? Scale 1-10, easy to hard? Starting AFTER the floor hole repairs because I'd hire that part out too. Thanks!!!

    July 7, 1987 is the day I bought My Comanche ❤️
    First clutch went 134,000.
    ... It still runs 👍 Original starter lasted until 2016.
    Still has original Peugeot transmission.
    Dealer installed AC died decades ago, thanks to a crooked Dealer mechanic shop 1989. 🙄
    I can name most eVeRytHiNg that's been replaced since 1987. I joke, "like 4 of everything".
    4.0 inline 6 cooling system is a hassle, runs hot because the engine over torques, cracking the exhaust manifold. That happened like before 70,000, 1989. Exhaust manifold has been replaced TWICE.
    3 of the fuel injectors are original, 3 replaced 2007.
    I could list a book of memories via My Comanche. It's on My list to figure out how to update, & clean it up. It's difficult to locate a Mechanic that will do the work, that I trust .. AND come up with the cash. So, I basically do what has to be done & park it except for hay & truck stuff.
    My Jeep floor has less holes than this truck here, but so helpful to watch the process. 👍
    Wish I'd win a rebuild, repaint via a television Auto show. 🤣
    The idea of walking in seeing My Comanche all fixed up tears Me up to imagine it. ❤️
    Is a love/hate relationship via that Jeep... 😂

    • @jollyjeepertheglen9697
      @jollyjeepertheglen9697 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great story. I believe you do have many memories with your truck. That's great you've kept it. It doesn't sound like it's hurting you to keep it. Especially if you don't have everything rusted out from the roof to the road! Fix it now. It's paid for itself and even saved up for the restoration money for you. You can't replace it with anything new. When they start falling apart they fall hard and hit with a dull thud.

    • @KammeO
      @KammeO ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jollyjeepertheglen9697 Thank You & Yes, it's paid for itself... Original price new was just over $11,000.
      I still have the original sales brochure... It was My first new vehicle. And YES, I prefer older simpler vehicles. 👍

    I dad bought a 86 Comanche new, the sad thing was it was a michigan car. The damn thing is soo Rusty and the thing finally gave up after 33 years and now he might have to scrap it due to a mixture of rust, engine complications (the mechanics and us don't know what's wrong with it) and money.
    :( love that thing to death
