Jason at Cog Hill Farm puts plastic bracelets on his water lines and he puts it on his wrist when he turns it on. It reminds him to cut the water off when he looks down and sees the bracelet.
Dutch, i absolutely love what you’re doing by the creek! I am 77 and would love a place like that! It’s totally beautiful!!! Lots of possibilities, the your time, one day at a time! You will be amazed at what you can do with the place! So will everyone else! It’s a dream coming true! Dream more bub! I would love to see you milk the trees and build that cabin! What an adventure. I absolutely love the creek. My grandad had a salt creek all of us grandkids use to play in. There was even quick sand beds in it. We just had to be careful! lol. Perfect place, I think, to raise your sweet girls! Man, you did good when you decided to buy the place and move there! I can’t tell you how excited I am for you all!!! It does look awesome! If I didn’t love y’all so much, I’d be jealous! Hahaha. Love you guys and am so excited to see everything come to pass! Sorry about your tent. Don’t beat yourself up too bad…. Everyone messes up sooner or later. And some of us( like me) more than once in my life. Love y’all. Blessings from OKC. Keep going Dutch. You’ll get there!❤
They do sell canvas patch kits, but if it is brittle already it is useless. Best thing to do is look for military salvage tents, thicker, bigger, and will last a very long time. To keep the canvas waterproof you can apply mink oil occasionally. Be careful not to use too much mink oil as it will clog the material and it won't be breath able.
The tent is no good. It's called dry rot if it's tearing, so easily. A lesson learned. You have been working so hard to fix up the creek area. it's beautiful. Dont be hard on yourself. With all the crazy weather you've had raising a family, working your farm, you've got a lot on your plate. Give yourself some grace! Be blessed.
Absolutely unbelievable how much it’s transformed the creek property. Really impressive. Such a beautiful spot for y’all to use and enjoy over the years.
That place is awesom, very nice job!!!! Give up the tent , you can mill up some wood , make like a 20x20 cabin with cut out windows on sides and make wood bunks all around , Table and chairs made all by hand whole family helping!!!!! LOL Put just screen in windows . Make canves roll down covers for out side of windows in case it is cold or raining. I went to Boy Scout camp with my step father he was a Scout leader . Our family got to go to All theplaces there in the camp were like Log cabins were really neat!!!!! They were made out of logs, but ,I think it would be just as good out of your milled wood!!!!! That way you wouldn't have worry about it at all !!!! I would make sure mice couldn't get in some how in the winter , have wood to cover to close off , like shutters or fold down or something to keep out animals Also store all your stuff in doors like swimming things!!!! Sounds good to me have a lot of fun you guys deserve it!!!!! Enjoy !!! Kit
Dutch , cut your losses with the tent and reach out to a tent manufacturer and try to get them to sponsor you a new tent! This time put your tent on a platform (wood or concrete pad) in case it rains you would be high and dry. You also could start building your future “campground “ by slowly adding other concrete pads for future camp outs. Then in the future you could mill enough wood to build cabins to make glamping/ B&B’s. Hikers/Naturalist would love that!! And you could make enough to help develop it like you want! As for the huge tree, use your chainsaw to cut it down lengthwise to fit your sawmill!
go ahead and put up the tent so that you can better assess the damage and then decide whether it is salvageable . As long as the roof has no holes you can use it for rain protection for tables , chairs , etc.
Problem with canvas tents, if there is any mildew or mold on it, you can bet the spores will be all through it. Not a healthy situation. If no mold, you should be able to sew patches on it. The cleanup looks as good as campgrounds. Keep doing what you can, it'll be worth it.
Buy a rope ladder or an escape ladder that they use for apartments..then tie off to a tree and put in ground securely. Great job clearing that all up good job jumping hadley.....
Please don’t beat yourself up over that. You were extremely busy doing so much and with the storm coming and all that you have to do. Cut yourself some slack
That canvas tent is toast. Even if you patch it up it's going to continue to tear/rip. Probably better off building a tiny house or getting a tow-a-long camper.
Throw the tent away and get a yurt or 2. They make great places for camping and you could rent them out for people to go camping in the summer or winter.
The property looks awesome ,you have a lovely set up. Canvas when it goes brittle is done for it has rot in the fibre.when you get a new one coat the outside canvas with oil, stop it going brittle. Well done, the property looks awesome.
This is looking really good. I hope it cuts down on the snakes. It looks like you could really have some good camping. You will really enjoy it. You were very busy. You could probably get some patches to fix . You are human. That was a good lesson. Great video.
Brandon I would try taping it with the tape that you can repair boats with. It really works. Good luck If that doesnt work just patch it by sewing patches over it with big stitches and it can be done, but very time consuming. Good Luck. Your property looks fantastic.
Take your loss with the tent. Better to get a bigger and newer under warranty tent. But an idea is reach out to a tent company and see if they will sponsor you with a large tent, or use your connection with a military source and buy one that fits your needs from them. Just an old camper woman (72) that did the same thing. So I started over. And got it from my military source while my husband was on one of his deployments and left me to care for six kids. What an experience that was. But I digress.
It looks really good Sean as brittle as the canvas is. I’m not sure that once you put a patch on it the canvas would rip. I think I would try to patch a hole and see how it goes. Otherwise I think I would replace it. I’ve made mistakes like this all the time. I’m sorry bout that. Great video, Sean, thank you
What an amazing difference! You guys are really going to enjoy the way it's all been cleared down there now! What a super camping and swimming playground you have created, NICE WORK!!!😅
If you plan on leaving the tent up, I highly suggest getting a heavy canvas tent. The thinner canvas isn't really made to be left up for extended periods of time, esp in a non shaded area.
🇦🇺yes you can buy patches for the canvas and the fly screens. That’s why we had a tarp under the tent and another over the tent, to prevent it being rained on.
Man, that is awesome awesome awesome yeah beautiful land you making it be even better in your daughter was awesome jumping up off that cliff jumping in the creek, please show the other building too. You just done to the awning only glitz of it.
WV HILLBILLY DUTCH YOUR CREEK PROPERTY IS LOOKING GREAT ALSO YOUR HOMESTEAD IS REALLY NICE TWO I HAVE WATCHED YOUR VLOGS FOR A FEW YEARS I HAVE JUST STARED COMMENTING NOT LONG AGO
Hey Dutch , Jackie definitely knows how to use his tools 👍! It's startng to look like the makings of a State Park🤭! Lesson learned🥴. Good luck with finding a better tent , there out there🤞. JO JO IN VT 💞
The bottom can be fixed with putting a heavy tarp on it with contact cement. I believe that's what my husband used. We did that to our heavy duty canvas tent and it works wonderful. I know there are patch kits for canvas also and screen.
The creek property looks amazing!! As for the tent even if you were able to patch it the smallest pressure will rip it somewhere else due to the weather damage. Sorry you about the tent and good luck with it. Maybe it’s time for a new Sponsor🤔🤔
Well done Hadley… It’s looking good out ther nice and open…gravel is a good idea for the walkways…thankyou Jackie for a good job… You cld patch it but check thers no mood on it as you folded it up damp…
The dozer work looks makes it look completely different down there. Very nice and clean looking. Be nice like you said to get some seed down to get growing. Id put the tent up and look at it. It might just tear apart on you. Patching could be endless. Sometimes we forget things. You will know when you put it up what to do when you see it.
Now's the time Dutch . the road's clear , the ground is clean , , there are plenty close by from the storm rehab in town . buy a 20' shipping container and move it down to the spot where you want your creekside cabin by the pergola . you have your own mill and trees galor to finish it all up in the future . let it rip . plan ahead .
I have some property on a creek in SW MO w an embankment like yours. I dug out a ditch like that and then staggered a half a dozen old tires and filled up w quick cement (use some old plywood and carve it around the tire to form a base if need be or go without and just pour the cement and get it somewhat level )into a makeshift stairway. It worked for me. the cement provides some friction for easier walking and the weight also prevents them from becoming dislodged when the flood waters come. Goes wo saying and I'm sure you are already aware, those types of embankments are prime cottonmouth areas. Clean up looks great.
That's too cool. It's all opened up, you should build a cabin and your family could be comfortable staying the weekend. We used to have access to a cabin on a river and it was great, we took our kids every weekend about and we even got married out there.
Hi Sean the new camp area at creek is amazing. But sorry Sean think the tent is ruined and Will need replacing. I would go to army surplus store if you have them. Would be perfect for your needs. I would do what Jason at cog hill does with the water taps as he used to constantly forget. Puts hair band on faucet and wears it whilst watering and puts back when not. Anything worth a try. Have an awesome week thanks for sharing take care God bless 💕🙏
The rubber might have been eaten by mice. I was sleeping in my tent with my dogs inside, I kept here scratching under my pillow. The next morning I found a hole where my head was. I was mad. To repair the tent is hard plus when rains. That's were it will leak is or the repair spot. And to get real clean for gule to set up. And the tents we can get while not last for long time. When I was homeless I had to put up tent at nighttime and take down in the morning. But I was had to fold it up too. To leave the the tent up for long time is easy. But not good idea because of the sun will dry rot the tent. Dry it out where sides will tear easy. Even in the shade is hard on the tents. Military store might a good be buy a tent. But like said the cost . But fold the tent up if going be away for than a week. Plus strong winds really push hard on the tent poles. I have been inside of the tent and had poles bend really far down. The area looks really nice . ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You place is looking amazing! You can get a tent from the army navy store... they are thicker and better made. You are doing amazing on your property! Love you all so much! Continued prayers! God bless ❤
I’d put the tent in the burn pile, not just holes, but mold and mildew get in the fibers! Can you inset some stepping stones down your walkway and make steps? You may have to put hair bungees on the water faucets like Jason! Lol
The area around the creek is looking beautiful. I think the tent is write off. You won’t make this mistake again. Don’t beat yourself up, everyone makes mistakes.
Put one springy bracelet on the water hydrant. When you turn the water on, put the bracelet on. Turn water off, take bracelet off & back on the handle. Cog Hill Farms did that on all of their outside faucets, etc.
The tent is done for if it’s brittle it will not last long and the patching won’t help. You are better off just replacing it. The creek property looks really good.
Go to an Army Surplus store , the you will find a better quality one and maybe bigger. Yes that one is beyond repair I feel. You might get a better price also.

Dutch you can buy canvas repair kits … or if replacing go to a military surplus and buy a bigger tent there 🇺🇸👊🏼👊🏼
Mikitary grade canvass tents is the way to go.
@@Dusk1962
Yes and you can buy them larger so there is lots of room inside for everyone 🇺🇸👊🏼👊🏼
I have patched tents with ''GORILLA tape and patching glue ''
Military tents are better. I'd check on the care of the tent prior to putting tents up. They are worth the money spent.
You have your very own KOA!
Dutch, i absolutely love what you’re doing by the creek! I am 77 and would love a place like that! It’s totally beautiful!!! Lots of possibilities, the your time, one day at a time! Cutting 🪵🪵🪵🪵 log's for steps 🪜 then put gravel in to step up 💞 looks great 👍
Absolutely unbelievable how much it’s transformed the creek property. Really impressive. Such a beautiful spot for y’all to use and enjoy over the years.
Just throw the tent away..
Yeah, time for a bracelet on the waterer!!
The property is looking beautiful!❤
The tent is gone love all the land clearing
The TENT IS TOAST! Time to start over. Go to Army/Navy store and get a thick one that will hold up.

I agree with the people who say the tent is done for. Make a tent platform out of that gravel.

Thanks for sharing.
Ordering on line . It won't be long until there will not be any local stores . From auto parts to hardware , home furnishings, clothes .. Lol
Wonderful job opening up all the space for your family and friends to enjoy. 😊
Put one springy bracelet on the water hydrant. When you turn the water on, put the bracelet on. Turn water off, take bracelet off & back on the handle. Cog Hill Farms did that on all of their outside faucets, etc.
God's blessings to you 😊❤
Would love to see an aerial view of the creek property. Everything you have done looks gorgeous!
The property is looking awesome...wait when theres grass on it ....The animals etc are looking good...Stay safe and see you on the next one
Looking really good now!
The tent is done for if it’s brittle it will not last long and the patching won’t help. You are better off just replacing it. The creek property looks really good.
It's beautiful ❤ I am so happy for you
Go to an Army Surplus store , the you will find a better quality one and maybe bigger. Yes that one is beyond repair I feel. You might get a better price also.

Get you some solar lights that way you can light up camp. Trails to bathroom ect they even make string solar lights. Plus battery operated would be great too as long as you git rechargeable ones. Looking great
You might consider to put up an old fashioned railing using the branches of the trees to hold on to as you go down to the creek
Property is looking great,. That water looks refreshing it's 102°here in southern California Mojave desert today
It’s looking good.
Looking great
Dutch the creek property looks beautiful. Jackie did a great job. Yes you can put some tables and chairs and a barbecue pit as well. And even a portable toilet😅 as well. Can't wait to see what else you will be doing. Love your videos and your beautiful family. ❤
You go Hadley.
Good morning happy Monday Dutchy.🦋🎉💙☺
Great, bringing the mill out there.. lots of nice wood to mill will help using the boards like you did at the homestead.n it’s looking great out at the creek after the work. Watch if you are pulling those hanging vines.. poison Ivy n oak. Leaves of three, better flee!
