Thanks! Dent du Géant has been on my bucket list for quite a while. The route is not particular hard as you have the fixed ropes to assist. Triglav? Just had to google that. That sounds like quite an adventure too. What route are you planning?
@@Cragcloud it looks like an amazing climb! I think I need a little more experience! I think we're climbing from krma valley, due to being one of the easier routes up! How often would you say you do expeditions like this?!
@@Cragcloud yeah I would definitely recommend it! And it's easiest route up there! Take maybe 12-14 hours over 2 days! How difficult is the blanc massif!
Nice! I have never been to Slovenia, but I have heard a lot of good about it. The Dent du Géant is graded D-, IV as far as I remember and takes most of a day including approach - which is pretty dependant on how many other teams are on the route. The Mont Blanc summit is not that hard, but there are loads of other routes on the Massif it self. Are there specific routes or grade you are looking for, then I can probably advice 😄
J'ai réalisé cette ascension en Août 2018, je suis natif de la vallée, ce sommet était pour moi un accomplissement. Merci pour ces belles images. Elles m'ont refait sentir un instant les sensations que j'avais ressenti en parcourant ce granit. 👍🤩
Excellent video. Nice to see one of my old climbs. I climbed it in 1970, probably before any of you were born. We climbed to the right of the ropes. All rock. Cheers.
Just did it on Monday with Tomas Franchini guiding me. Every bit as awesome as your video shows. And thank you for providing probably the best way to show my friends and family what it was like!
Im doing this 2nd week july 2024 if weather ok. All booked ! With a fab mountain guide 1:1. Should be epic. Ive wanted to climb this since i saw it doing aiguille entreves in 2017 ad not been back since. Video gives me goosebunps ! Thank you !
Thank you very much! It is actually one of my top 3 most enjoyed alpine climbs! Highly recommendable 😄 So the question is more, when will you climb Dent du Géant? 😉
Yeah! I must admit the approach and descent back to Glacier du Géant was a bit sketchy. I guess we used more time scrambling through all the loose rock than actually climbing the Dent du Géant. Have you done it, when there were more snow?
@@nardsgo-out4553 That sounds like a great itinerary 😄 What route are your considering, when climbing Mont Blanc? I have looked a bit at the Royal Traverse. It sounds like quite an adventure 😄
@@Cragcloud still in the planning stage which would be put on hold for quite some time due to the pandemic, but if it comes to that, the route would probably be chosen by the guide depending on my assessed skill, since i will have to do some technical training before i could even think of doing it
I’ve heard several explanations. One that it is for the local mountain guides when bringing clients with them, so they have some assistance. Another explanation is that it is because routes like the Dent du Géant are so popular that teams will queue up if they cannot move fast and the ropes will help keeping pace.
The ropes were fixed by italian guides originally to facilitate the climb. Unfortunately nowadays this summit is crowded in part because oh these ropes.
Don't honestly think it's too responsible to say nothing about the descent which is presumably a multipitch abseil with two (50m sufficient?) rope constraint?
I did Dent du Geant in july 2019, a dream come true. Wonderful, hard, fun, thrilling.Tnx for a great video. I haven't time to film when I was at the rock ;) #insta johan4810

The video is well done. Abd seems to explain the critical segments. Thank you.
You have very welcome :) Have you done Dent du Geant?
Thanks sharing. I am thinking of climbing it this year or the next.

Unfortunately not, but it is high on the list 😄 Have you done it or planning to do so?

A bit taller than Seneca Rocks.
Why do the French fix ropes on a route which is easily protected?

@@HenriDeCantel it's funny some say fixed ropes avoid queues and others that they cause it. Each version has its point

P B, yes, the there are numerous abseil points, and as far as I remember we did two long abseils in our 60 meter ropes.
@@Cragcloud Thanks!
@@Cragcloud Hi, thank you for the detailed video, can one abseil with one 50m rope only? Thanks!
