I totally agree with what you said here (5:27)! Why in the world ALL publishers don't make this a standard design is baffling. Lots of references, translators notes, semi-wide margin for note-taking, line-matched, 36gsm, concordance/dictionary, maps, 10pt font ... all for 1.5"? Wow. Just Wow!

That's a nice Bible, but I wonder how CSB sales are doing now that the brick-and-mortar Lifeway stores are gone. I sure miss Cokesbury, they sold a wide array of Bibles, so these reviews are really important. Thanks for yours!

Itd be great if they came out with a red letter edition of this. Any chance that'll happen or are there any bibles similar to this that are in Red letter? I have the Hebrew/Greek CSB bible that is line matched/red letter but the underlines are too distracting to use in the pulpit.
I don't think Holman does red-letter for the CSB (at least that I've seen). I agree about the Hebrew/Greek Keyword Study Bible for pulpit use. I tried it once. I was regretting my decision. lol Clean text for me.
Csb does have a number of red letter editions and i actually like their red letter best of all so far
I've been leaning towards picking this bible up. I've seen many reviews. One thing that is making me hesitant in purchasing it so many have said the smell off the tanned leather is very strong. Can you tell me if you experienced that with your edition or ever heard of leather having this problem and will it dissipate within time. I trust your judgement Randy it's why I asked. Another awesome review!
Thanks Rich! Mine didn't have a strong smell, but I have had Bibles that did. In all of them, it either weakened by a major amount or it dissipated completely. Either way, it wouldn't be as strong as when you first got it.

@@BibleBuyingGuide Randy mine came yesterday. Holman really stepped into the premium bibles with a grand slam. There was absolutely no strong oder at all. I believe this bible is going to be my daily one. I'm just absolutely blown away with the quality work Holman put into this bible. Thank you again for the hard work you put into your videos Randy. That's a tough one. It really depends on your preference between verse-by-verse and paragraph layouts. For me, that's based on how I'd use it. For reading, I lean toward paragraph. For preaching, I lean toward verse-by-verse.

Wide margins to a point..references and notes at bottom. I really like the Holman personal size large print especially in 2020 text. Seems darker and bolder. In CSB. Also other versions.

Thanks! It's super simple. I use a phone stand with an articulating arm (I'll add a link at the end), a 3-way lamp with paper covering the bulbs on the left, a desk lamp with paper covering the bulb on the right, and an LED desk lamp on the right to fill in the shadows. The table-top is a paper poster sitting on my desk. My camera is a Galaxy S20 FE. For audio, I'm using a cheap USB-C lapel mic clipped onto the phone stand. I notice that your copy has a line down the front just like the one that I purchased and which arrived today. Is that normal? I'm somewhat disappointed as on mine it isn't a natural mark, but rather it looks like a fold in the leather. Other than that, it's a beautiful Bible for sure.
I am returning my copy because of the same vertical line on the front leather cover. A replacement copy is being sent to me from my retailer. Such a fault should never pass any form of quality control at the manufacturing, publisher or retailer level. It simply does not belong on a premium goatskin Bible. I am hoping...
@@stephenwilcox8240 my line gradually faded and now isn’t visible. I think for mine it was related to the way it was packed, with the black card cover causing an indentation on the leather. Think they may have changed the way they do it as a result of a few of them turning out that way, but I agree that it shouldn’t arrive like that because opening up a premium Bible and enjoying that first impression is important when you’ve spent a lot of money on it.
@@slawsonscot Thank you for replying to me. The replacement Bible is arriving tomorrow as will the sticker that pays for mailing back the first one with the line on the cover. If there is a line on the new one also, I will keep it (as long as it is not worse) and trust that with usage it disappears. I am really glad to hear that it goes away with time and goes a long way to have me relax a bit! :) I also feel quilty for worrying about such a thing as an indentation when untold millions do not have ANY copy of the Word of God. Praise God from whom ALL blessings flow!
@@stephenwilcox8240 I totally hear you - I didn’t ‘need’ the VBV in goatskin, so even one with an imperfection was more than enough, but I settled on the principle that the premium price tag changes our expectation of the end product and that considering I didn’t intend on buying many/if any more at that price, and it was going to be a keeper, it was worth making sure that the fault was drawn attention to and dealt with. Holman have been brilliant for me in the past and I also think they genuinely want people to be pleased with the product they are producing, so all in all it’s ok to draw attention to it and get it sorted :) you’re right though, we are so blessed to have such access to God’s Word!
@@slawsonscot Life is often stranger than fiction! My replacement copy arrived and had the vertical crease exactly the same, but adding marks on the cover and a few noticable internal wrinkles in the text block. So, I kept the first one and returned the intended replacement. As you said, am confident the vertical cover line will diminish or disappear in time. It is a beautiful edition and a delight to own and read. Praise God from Whom all blessings continue to flow, forever and ever.
I've had this Bible for a couple months now? I've been really enjoying it. I like the translation. The only thing that irks me is how "O God" isn't used in the CSB. Here is an example with a NKJV / NASB 95 / CSB comparison:
1 As the deer pants for the water brooks,
So pants my soul for You, O God
Ps 42:1. (NKJV)
1 As the deer pants for the water brooks,
So my soul pants for You, O God.
Ps 42:1. (NASB95)
1 As a deer longs for flowing streams,
so I long for you, God.
Ps 42:1. (CSB)
As you can see, the CSB makes "God" like Bob or Frank. It's a bit too straightforward ("Hey Frank!") and it doesn't come off very serious. Maybe that's just my KJV / NKJV background! :D I'm not KJV only by the way. I just like the respectful, reverent slant of "O God".
Even at 10 point is good dark print.
