The 1271 is the only one piece 12 cyl block that Detroit made it’s known as the original Buzzin dozen. All the rest of the 12 cylinders are 2 6 cylinder blocks bolted together.
So interesting that you say that on another one of my boats I have 1292s and that’s exactly how they are. I always look at the two of them and notice the Stark difference between the two of them. Thanks for watching!
Great video. The things you’re calling an air boxes are intercoolers - an air to water heat exchanger between the turbocharger and the supercharger (blower). The air box is the area of the block between the blowers and the intake ports of the cylinder liners. Some of these engines also have aftercoolers - another set of heat exchangers below the blowers.
