I'm an old school amp guy, floor based and rack mount preamps are great too. The digital world can't replace the feel of glowing tunes and air being pushed.
The Thing that Gravitated me to your Channel was.... you reviewed alot of Old Discontinued Amps from a time where youtube demos wernt a Thing. Cool to see some of these dirt cheap obscure little gems out there on the used market get some solid content.
I appreciate the feedback! it's exactly comments like these that are driving my thinking behind having two separate channels. I definitely want to be able to do more than I'm doing right now and have it all makes sense
Those amp demos were a thing, they just weren’t GOOD. Can’t tell you how frustrating it was back in 2007/8 to see people with good or interesting gear, but it was recorded on shitty camera mics. They had money for an Uberschall but not a SM57 at least? It was so bad. Plus, they’d play the worst shit to demo the amps. If there was any gain on the amp, it was straight to playing only leads (usually badly); they’d never play riffs. Countless times I’d yell at the screen: “MIC THE GODDAMN CAB! RIFFS MFER RIFFS!”
Kyle your channel has grown over there years and congrats on that it’s well deserved,But you have always been my go Channel for High Gain tube amps! As far as I’m concerned the only TH-cam channel where you tell us the viewers if an amp is Good or Bad and I thank you for that. Keep killing it with channel!!
I think it’s burnout. Every month there’s a new “game changer”. I’ve started rolling my eyes at this point because a lot of it just another Rectifier or 5150. Plus, once you find a piece of gear that works for you, we’re at a place where selling it to get the newest thing no longer makes much sense, plus shipping is CRAZY expensive and you’re gonna lose your ass if you buy a big 100w and try to flip it on reverb. Personally, speakers are my obsession and I would love to see some interesting combinations being shot-out. I love that Jensen seems to be leaning in to the community and sending out their stuff for you guys to demo. In general, there’s still a lot of ground to cover in that realm that hasn’t been tapped yet. On the surface it may seem dry and boring, but when I’m driving I’m WAY more apt to listen to a speaker or mic shootout with minimal talking. It’s like crack for me. Brands like Lichtlaerm are insanely smart to develop an in house speaker because not everyone has need for another 2000 dollar amp, but most of us can afford a 130-150 dollar pedal or speaker. I just love it when brands have a lil something for everyone.
Okay so I was just talking to my wife about this yesterday. Most of my favorite TH-camrs aren’t doing the videos anymore that got me here to start with. I like the amp demos. I like the long 25 minutes of the same familiar riffs over and over. But I also know I’m probably not the norm. I am autistic and I have experienced that most of the time what I like is opposite everyone else. Bottom line, I’ll enjoy whatever you put out. Just know, you will always have at least 1 guy who’s into the same ole format amp, guitar, pedal, plugin demo. Yes amps are dying in popularity in favor of modelers. And that’s cool too. Like I love both. I really do enjoy pedals still. I miss a lot of new stuff coming out due to what you said. Pedal videos seem to not do as well so therefore, there’s less videos being made. But I still like them. I would love to see some hybrid rig videos. Stuff focused on mixing a tube rig with a modeler. Or massive pedalboard with midi switchers with tube amps. Maybe even some recording content. I know none of this is your usual, but these are types of videos I would stick around for on top of your usual stuff. Oh yeah. The Kyle bull 2 page is freaking awesome. I love basically all the content over there. Like tube section shootout was freaking cool to me. I like those super niche videos. Keep em coming Bro!!!
Music gear is my thing right now for sure. That's how I found your videos. Its the personality of the creators that holds my interest. I bet you could do any kind of content and still be successful. Loved the live shows!
I think you ought to just have one channel. It’s sick when there’s a variety on a channel. It makes it fun to flip thru the content and it’s all completely relevant to Kyle Bull OG. Two guitar related gear channels may be difficult to manage and navigate as a viewer. That’s my two fragrances. 👉🤪👈
I think what has happened is the people that found you originally were into hearing traditional guitar amp demos. The reason they found you in the first place is because they were seeking that out. Now that you're channel is growing, the algorithm is promoting your videos to people who are interested in *some* aspect of guitar. If you look at the guitar content ecosystem, it isn't really focused around real amplifiers at the moment. It's mainly focused on affordable import guitars and whatever modeler has come out or received an update.
Also wanted to say you had a real impact on Guitar Center... I have a friend that is the manager for the guitar section of my local GC and I told him about your Chibson video and then you having a meeting with GC and telling them about the used gear pix and he was like yeah wow that's everything that they've been really driving into us now and also modules that everyone has to take to learn about how to identify a Chibson!
You are doing live shows now right? Have you considered actually recording the shows? Don’t know what all is involved but if the audio is good it might be a good thing to add, not to mention good for the bands.
Sad to say, I think people have finally recognized that pedals don't sound like amps, they never will and any pedal into any amp just ends up sounding like the pedal.
It’s a different world from just a few years ago when the amp defined you as a player. I was heavy into wet dry wet rigs and switching units with more pedals than anyone should have on a pedal board. Now that era is not here anymore, but I am old school in that regard. Amps have always been a thing of beauty for me and that remains a part of my life that won’t ever change and nor should yours… take care…
I appreciate any and all content you put out. It helps me stay up to speed with things and I appreciate that big time! Plus, you can be very entertaining at times. Lol.
I'm all about the amp demos, especially with the KHE amp switcher to A/B and or combine them. Idec if you've demo'd the amps before, I just like watching new vids of them. Using your favs as "control" amps to compare other ones would be ideal. More comparisons! Playing through a variety of cabs and speakers, too, of course. Oh, and play with a mix to see what freqs poke out. Would be awesome to see how different amps perform live at your venue, too!
I'm always here for the amp videos. They are a useful resource and I have used this channel to decide if I'm going to buy an amp before. You are also the only guy that plays these amps similar to how I play them. Most other guys downtune if they play metal.
I love your classic style of videos and really appreciate that you don't do play throughs with mixes (even though I recall you doing it on a couple videos a few months back). I just want to hear the amp, pedal, guitar, etc... that you're showcasing. Moving these type of videos to the 2nd channel and being less sophisticated in the editing is fine with me as long as it helps you out and keeps the channels going. One request that I've been meaning to ask for quite some time is that you do a "KSR week" much in the same way you did "ENGL month" last year. While I love ENGL and am lusting for a Fireball 25, I really think Kyle and crew make in my opinion, the greatest amps on the planet. Currently, I have their Ceres and Eros distortion and overdrive along with their PA50 power amp which is a metal heaven dream rig, I'm also bound and determined to pickup an Orion 45 one of these days. It just oozes metal! I hope this is something you would consider squeezing into your demanding schedule in the future so the rest of your viewers that aren't familiar with the awesome amps that KSR produces can judge for themselves their greatness. Thanks for all you do for us and I send many wishes for your continued success. I hope your conference call with QSC went well (their K series speakers are about the best in the biz!) Keep up the awesome work, it's much appreciated!
The second channel is excellent for niche content. Stuff that you know your main channel viewers may not necessarily click on and watch, but for that select small group of people that the information would be invaluable for, the content is there. It's like your speaker comparison or cabinet comparison video. An hour long of playing the same riff through all sorts of different cabinets to hear the specific differences of the speakers. Most people would find that boring and not necessarily click or watch it all the way through, but for the people that are looking for that specific speaker compared to another specific speaker that they are interested in, that video would be invaluable!
Even live, "in the room" a modeler can beat an amp. I played an Engl Powerball in a metalband for years and I remember my first rehearsal with my Line 6 Pod go through a Palmer Macht 402 Poweramp into the same Engl 4x12 that I used with the Powerball. I dialed in the Rectifier in the Pod go and I was blown away. Don´t get me wrong, I was in love with my Powerball but I wanted to be able to work on effects at home, set levels exactly as I want it etc. That´s why I tried the Pod go and don´t regret it. By example, I use different guitars, in different tunings and pickups and I can dial in the gain of the virtual rectifier for each guitar in the setups I create for songs. There is no way I could do this with a real tube amp. And having the right amount of gain dialed in for the guitar, even for fast or slow riffs, affects the way the amp feels much more than other things. I love tube amps and owned many over the years but the most important thing anyway is to have good songs, play awesome, get gigs with your band and maybe find someone who want´s to listen to your music............
Start mixing In different speakers into the mix. Every amp thru a Mesa v30 loaded 4x12 can be a bit boring at times. This way you can still use the go to amps and try and show which amps pair best with certain speakers. Like ever since I got my Hesu cab w the Demon speakers to me, made my stealth sound like the best version of itself. Ofcourse there are certain amps that play best with v30’s but there’s other options out there that pair better with certain amps. Like I think my Archon sounds best thru a v30 loaded cab but my stealth and MT-15 sound best thru the Hesu. Get people interested in what else is out there and how to optimize your tone. A lot of people rely on these kinds of videos as a template of what they think they need to purchase not knowing there’s tons of other options out there. Been watching your channel forever but I feel like more speakers/cabs based videos will open a new avenue of gear to show off. Just an idea, either way do what makes you happy bruv
I first found your channel when I was trying to decide if I wanted to buy an Archon 50 and have enjoyed your channel ever since. I also really liked your video of making the low gain amp work for metal.
I have always liked your amp comparison videos. I found them very helpful in deciding what to purchase. I will watch the amp demos on whichever channel you put them on. Plug-ins are a dime a dozen so I never watch anyone's videos of plug-ins anymore. Seems like a new plug-in comes out daily.
I've definitely noticed the same thing about plugins. dedicated playthrough videos don't really make much sense these days because almost all of them have free trials anyways
Hey I dig the amp reviews, and helped me getting my first semi serious amp, an engl Fireball 25, and I can see myself getting something more powerfull later on. But it's understandable to have to make changes for your channel. Thanks again Kyle for showcasing the products that interest me.
I shit you not…I have a dual rec and a mesa mk5. And my evh stealth is literally the best sounding amp I have. It literally crushes the mesa amps I have right out the box. I love it the most AND…it’s the cheaper of the 3.
I think that's probably a good idea. Belligerent Business on the main channel, and Belligerent fun on the second. Keep the cash flowing while keeping the passion fire burning
So, i've never had my own channel, nor a following, so take this with a grain of salt. but, make videos you love to make, because it comes across in the content. Trends will change, and i know it must be difficult to keep things fresh and interesting for you and the viewer, but i really believe as long as YOU are into what your making that will bring people in, that is what got you here... and i firmly feel that is what will keep you going.
I don't think the shorter videos or doing them on the second channel is a bad idea at all. It doesn't take too much playing to get the gist of an amp's sound. Honestly, you should just do whatever is sustainable for you in the long run and what you enjoy doing. Like you said, people are here for you at the end of the day.
I think the expensive or higher end gear is interesting but one thing ive noticed is the budget gear has become a lot more relatable and the content on it has been popping off. I think alot of people like me with inflation and everything especially are looking more into the budget or mid range gear because thats what we can afford.
I don't use big amps, I'm a bedroom player and mostly use modelers but more than that, I'd like to see more about guitars, You do some vids about guitars and of course have them in your videos to show the amps, but the emphasis was almost always on the amps. It's a cool niche, but as I think you're realizing it's also kinda limiting. You should do a more even spread of all kinds of gear. You have a ton of stuff, you have a good relationship with Sweetwater, I think moving to more rounded content could be good.
I’m mostly indifferent on whether you swap your old content to your 2nd channel. However, for whatever reason, I rarely watch the 2nd channels of other people I follow, and I’m not sure why that is. Lol but as far as content, I’d love to see a JCM800 2203 vs Quickrod 100 and if you did similar content on the 2nd channel I’d def watch it! I love modelers and plug-ins, but I don’t enjoy watching videos on them. I just find it a boring thing to discuss and watch, for whatever reason. If you did go that route, I’d much rather see a “how to make plugins sound next level” and give tips on how to make them sound like other creators do, which is often much better than how they sound to the user at home. Pedals…I couldn’t care less about unless they are truly unique and useful at the same time. I’m always into guitar reviews, though. Anyways, good luck!
I'm guessing the reason you don't watch the second channel of other content creators is because most of their second channels are super unfocused. they kind of typically just throw up random stuff on there that doesn't really have much to do with their main channel or they're just kind of pointless vlog videos, etc. I really want to focus both channels so that they both have dedicated audiences for focused content styles if that makes sense, but I totally understand what you're saying because I find that to be true for myself as well
I still like learning about amps. I think interest in amps has died because most of the mystery has been revealed in recent years. You can download a free model of every high gain amp ever made, and it sounds almost identical to the real thing recorded. There are detailed and high quality demos of almost every amp ever made online too. They can all sound very similar in a full mix context too! For me, it has become more about making music that I care about with the gear I own. I went down a rabbit hole of gear acquisition knowledge acquisition, found peace, and now I want to do something I care about with it! Rather than just noodle around and obsess over details that only nerds like us care about. Maybe that’s just me!
You could let the viewers know the exact amps, cabs, pedals, you have and let people decide what amp-cab combo and pedal they want to hear being checked out. That would be awesome to see and you could fill up 15 min extra easily next to the rest of the content
Kyle, could you do a revisit video on the Peavey 6505+? You haven’t done a solo video on this by itself. Run this through that 99 Mesa cab and put a TS9 on it for old time sake. I have this exact setup so this would be friggin awesome! Lol
Still love seeing the amp demos -ii would like to see some of them through different cabs-would love to see some wizard gear-their are only so many good amp designs and you own most of them -interest is always going to be up and down-love f the guitar reviews too especially the Moser guitar. Just keep up what you have been doing -cool new space 2
I love amps, and I love watching videos of unconventional amps. I would love to see more speaker comparison but I know that this is not something that most people would be into. I enjoy watching creative ways on how to use gear, for example, Rabea released a couple of videos showing how he uses the quad cortex with his kraken amps live. I think amps are luxury, most of us cant even play them at volume at our houses.
I am burnt out on amps and pedals personally...I am a guitar nerd before I am a amp/pedal nerd and I am more interested in seeing cool guitars than gear.
I think your overextended at the moment but your on the right path, getting an editor and someone to help with the videos would free up ALOT of time, personally im not a fan of multiple channels, and my theory would be pressure to make way more videos to fill both channels with content, in between everything you have going on, my opinion is focus on content for 1 channel, now once you have editors, that can free you up to explore different "topics" or gear demo's, then later on once you've freed up that time, then maybe explore the option for a 2nd specific topic channel
Different times require different means. The audience you’re amounting is changing due to the different products you’re pushing. So the algorithm is changing to a growing new audience. Plus who in the heck can afford that at the current economy. People are going literally broke just eating. lol
@@belligerentamateur push might have been a bit harsh. Let’s say influencing. Nothing wrong with that everyone has to eat. Times are changing is the bottom line. Right now it’s election time and many are struggling, some not. However some have given up on expensive items. Plus the digital push is only going to get bigger due to AI.
Covid created a huge guitar boom. That’s died down and many burned out and their guitars become closet queens or sold. Now there is inflation and lack of funds. People have really cut back and/or lost interest. Those that stuck it out are not generally not boomers/gen X and moved to modelers due to bang for buck. I’m Gen X and honestly lean heavily to Neural stuff and don’t much use “real” gear.
I dont think amps are dying out as a topic. I think a lot of guys who got into it are now knowledgeable enough that they dont need to talk about it anymore. If you want to bring in new people into amps then you need to make videos focusing on noobs rather than guys who have already been into it and already spent their money on it. You need to make buying guide for noobs videos that gives an overall view of whats available. Then you will get a new audience of guys who dont have time to scour forums and facebook groups for this information. Also instead of wasting 5 minutes of people's time waiting for your chat to fill up, you should announce a video on youtube. Im sure you know most people who livestream put up the video beforehand that people can click the notify button on.
if i do the opposite of everything you say, my channel will flourish. Thanks for the tips on what not to do! You're always a source of inspiration, but only ironically.
I’m not gonna lie. I don’t like videos that are longer than 10 minutes long. I typically only watch reviews or tutorials that get right to the point. It’s what initially drew me to this channel. One of your strengths was always that every amp and cab were mic’d up with an SM57. Talking for 8 minutes plus and doing 2 minutes of playing makes 0 sense. If you want to do more expanded content, Fluff nailed it with Riff Wars and content that involved more creators on a personal level.
It seems that most gear demos are too formulaic and the TH-camr just goes for the same types of tones. That’s their signature sound and doesn’t really try to get the most out of the gear. Or see if they can find something unique to that particular piece of gear. Be nice to see a demo of the boss katana artist gen 3 head. Since I’m interested in the upgrade from the mk 2
Why have 2 channels? Just have all content on one channel this should also help you with the algorithm as you should be seeing more traffic, of anything move the studio and venue content to the 2nd channel
People obsessed with tone still will watch the amp videos. The 30 thousand of us that check once every couple weeks, just to have a better idea about those amps. You have 50 thousand that love clickbait and drama. "Fake esp" yadiyada
im not lacking content or looking for new content ideas, and those types of videos have been done to death by others. Not criticizing your comment! Just responding with the reality of how things are on youtube. i try to make content that is very specifically my style and not what everyone else at the moment is doing, hence why i never did tier list style videos.
@@belligerentamateur No offense taken. My reasoning was an approch to keep you going in the amp department vs regular consumer who is not interested in investing in amps. This topic is always interesting as a barometer of the current offerings. Imo, it may have been done to death, but few have done it the "right way" and you are one of the few who has enough gear with the channel and knowhow to be a good option when researching this topic like a did when I got back into music. I think this was the topic I was researching that got me to your channel in the first place now that I think of it 🤔
I'll certainly be the one to die on the hill as far as tube amps being superior. The issue I see with modelers in general is serviceability and longevity. They're much more complicated in terms of circuitry and software. Eventually something is going to fail on it and you will not be able to repair it. Conversely with a tube amplifier, many are built more simple and can be serviced by most technicians in the field today with common off the shelf parts. At the end of the day they are all tools in the toolbox. Doesn't matter if my toolbox weighs 37 lb instead of say 9 lb for a rack mounted modeler unit, It gets the gigs done.
The whole gear demo thing was like a 2020-22 fad I think, I feel like a lot of these channels have kind of stagnated and they’re more like gossip channels now lol
I'm an old school amp guy, floor based and rack mount preamps are great too. The digital world can't replace the feel of glowing tunes and air being pushed.
I can’t agree more with you, I’m an old school player too Ive always had a real Tube head and at least a 4x12 cab there’s nothing like pushing air!!!
Your Channel was always a Amp Test Channel. You can review everything. Guitars, Pedals, but Amps should be always a part
Love the old amp reviews, what brought me here. But I'm a fan now, sir. I'm along for the ride.

Thanks again Kyle for showcasing the products that interest me.
clean VTM full stack in the back is wild
@Kyle Bull; The new place is starting to shape up well!
All your big backbreaking boxes & STILL lots of room!
👍🛸
GET READY BRO
Love the amp reviews, pedals, and the fake stuff ( modeling amp stuff) hallelujah
Engl fireball vs EVH Stealth
Like the amp content.. not much for digital/downloads/amp Sims. Like the real thing and enjoy hearing the tones you get outta them.
Yes 100 watt half stack tube is awesome hallelujah
Should I still do guitar amp reviews?
For those that don’t have time for it
The only thing I come here for is Amp Demos… but I have 20 tube amps sooooo I guess I’m in the minority
I didn't know that you had a second channel 😮😆 I will sub...
Don't take on too much so you don't burn out and crash. Take care of yourself bud.
I would love to buy some more gear but my kids and those damn bills take all my paycheck away every time 😂
Can you demo a Bogner ecstasy 3435 35 watt head?
Absolutely
Amp models and clones are where things are going.
People are going literally broke just eating. lol
i dont push products, but i hear what youre saying.
Hello from Portugal
I have a very weird but super effective on trying out amps
I Use four chords. If it can’t replicate it I won’t buy it
Covid created a huge guitar boom.
I think it would be cool if you learned 5-10 new riffs to play when demoing gear.
im going to forget 5-10 riffs instead
@@belligerentamateur Bold strategy.
@@chrisb8193 lets see if it pays off, Cotton
@@belligerentamateurYou overdid it man, people get the reference.😂
Not being a hater, just providing viewer feedback.
@@chrisb8193 Oh, now he's a philoso-phizer.
Just have all content on one channel this should also help you with the algorithm as you should be seeing more traffic, of anything move the studio and venue content to the 2nd channel
its actually the opposite, as explained in this video.
@@belligerentamateur I must have misunderstood I'll rewatch the video
What is that white amp? Oooo might be something new!
ceriatone molecular! had it for a while but havent demod it yet
@@belligerentamateur nice. Can’t wait 💯❤️
People obsessed with tone still will watch the amp videos. The 30 thousand of us that check once every couple weeks, just to have a better idea about those amps.
You have 50 thousand that love clickbait and drama. "Fake esp" yadiyada
uh, ok
@@belligerentamateur ohh I say something controversial?
Amp vs plugin " How close is it? "
Ir vs Speaker " how close is it? "
Should keep you going for a while
im not lacking content or looking for new content ideas, and those types of videos have been done to death by others.
I think this was the topic I was researching that got me to your channel in the first place now that I think of it 🤔
Rn = right now
I'll certainly be the one to die on the hill as far as tube amps being superior.
Play weak people music jk
Yea, amps having been dying fast. Even more so now with the cortex and tone master pro.
The whole gear demo thing was like a 2020-22 fad I think, I feel like a lot of these channels have kind of stagnated and they’re more like gossip channels now lol
KYLE is a professional BULL fighter....
if the "bull" is me taking a shit, then damn right.
