This little guy is incredibly well behaved and patient during the grooming! It must have been a bit painful in places but he didn't complain. He'll make someone a good friend, after he is neutered.

I can't believe how still this dog is standing! Kinda makes me think that at some point he/she was groomed regularly before he/she got lost...poor thing!! You guys are the BEST!!
It did not seem as though there was any spot he did not want you to rub and clean. The little guy laid into everything you did for him. What a great dog. One of my favorites.

I always wondered if you use less expensive scissors to cut through those dirty mats. A good pair of shears here in Canada can easily cost over $200, so it would break my heart to use them on anything but a super clean and brushed dog. Love what you guys are doing ❤️

I feel so bad for these poor dogs. They are so lucky to have people like you guys to help them. An old toothbrush works great to clean around the face, it works good on paws too.

Poor, poor little doggie, so horrible this neglect! What a great thing you took her to the vet and discovered the heart worms. This is probably draining his energy so there is no fight in her at all. Plus the Bichon is a companion breed so very docile by nature and likes the human attention. These companion breeds are so needy for human companionship (they were bred to be lap dogs), that it is traumatic for them to be alone emotionally. They feel a lot of anxiety when left alone. So very, very glad you rescued this sweetie, and gave him all the care he needs. I would adopt in an instant if I lived closer. Thank you, Damjan and Sanja!
Thanks for showing the teeth! Some closeups would be nice. Dental cleaning and surgery are very important on these small breeds. It is always the eyes, teeth, and heart that is the first to be damaged thru neglect.
I use a toothbrush for under the eyes where there is staining. Scrub with a toothbrush. I also use a soft brush for inside the ears. Don't be afraid to scrub inside the ear flap well. This removes caked up dirt. Hands cannot do it. Don't be afraid to flush out the ears with a low power, luke warm shower head. ALL THE DIRT COMES OUT THIS WAY! The vet or you, should check to ensure eardrums are both intact no holes, then it is 100% safe. I use an antifungal shampoo. I do under the eyes, inside the ears, and scrub inside the toes with a brush and antifungal shampoo. Then I scrub the whole body and head with a soft brush and regular shampoo. This gives the anti fungal shampoo time to kill fungus and yeast, which is what is causing the itching. I reapply again if I have to. Then I flush out the ears thoroughly after shampoo, and again after conditioner, so all loosened up dirt comes flowing out. I get the ear canal squeaky clean, then after towel drying, I flood the ear with a disinfectant like Virbac Epi Otic, dog shakes it out, and I towel dry inside the ear, tilting it to get all liquids out and wipe dry. After blow drying, I finger coat the inside of ear flap with Tolnaftate cream or Lamisil (Terbinafine HCl1%) which kills all Tinea skin fungus and works well on ringworm fungus too. Now the dog will not itch any more. For severe itchiness, use a bit of Hydrocortisone cream for relief, or some Benadryl (Diphenhydramine HCl 25 mg). Usually 1/2 tablet or 3/4 tablet for this size. You can go up to 1 tablet.
The brown stain indicates iron deposits from porphyrin in the saliva or eye tears. It also indicates secondary fungus due to constant moisture. It is important to treat them with anti fungal cream where dog cannot lick it (below eyes and ears) and diluted vinegar dips for paws. By the way, you cannot bleach out rust stains, it only sets them in permanently. Best way is to shave off fur very close to skin with #30, #40, #50 blades and keep treating with antifungal creams. Fungus grows in the hair follicle. Vinegar can burn sore skin so I never use it for ears. Keep area dry, shaved down, and keep giving antifungal baths and creams repeatedly. Sunlight helps a lot. Fungus and yeast is the most difficult thing to cure on animals, and it comes from poor quality food high in carbs. Feed fresh meat, vegs, fish, eggs, yoghurt, fish oil to cure these disease. Putting this out here for others involved in rescue. Be sure to get a mix of regular meats: pork, chicken, beef, goat, etc + organ meats like heart, kidney, liver, etc + bone broth + gelatine.

Hi this poor poor doggie… I had a Bichon… they are a gentle breed.. definitely an inside dog.. he has been out on the street along time by the look of him… I was sooo sad to see the state of him!!!😢😢😢 I’m so pleased someone got him & got intouch with You Damjan… he would have enjoyed Sanja comforting hands washing him….

Trouble is people don't realize till later after the fur has all grown back that it needs grooming.

I never really thought about why English speakers call that an "armpit" on an animal without arms... probably because we can relate to the exact location on our own human bodies... whereas "the crook under the front leg" or something similar is longer, clunkier, and less clear. He's cute. I think he had water in his right ear which is why he wouldn't stop shaking his head and trying to scratch that ear. I used a q tip for that with my dog after a bath.
