Essentially it is pretty simple. Perhaps in the future I will make a more condensed version. Perhaps just edit this video to make it shorter.

As a meditation practitioner and teacher for the past 45 years, I finally decided to learn TM about 4 years ago, so I could see what it was all about, and teach it to others for free (which is exactly what I do). Your rundown of the technique is pretty good, though I would add a few tips to make it more effective: namely, do it everyday if you can, and do at least 15 minutes, with a few minutes afterwards to just rest in Silence.
Twice a day gives you twice the benefits. Also, it's not exactly true that the mantra given in TM doesn't mean anything; it's that is doesn't matter what it means. It's about the sound, and that's why it should be something you enjoy repeating, no more than 2 or 3 syllables. For instance, it's widely believed that the mantra given to the Beatles by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi back in the 60's was Ram., which is a name of God. Lastly, sit up when you meditate, unless you have a physical limitation that prevents this, and don't repeat your mantra too fast. Let it be easy and natural; like calling the name of an old friend. Finally; if you are dedicated to practicing (cause it is a practice), you will see life changing benefits. How long will that take? I would say; don't worry about that; just do it and you will notice a greater peace, joy and harmony filling your inner, and outer world (if that's what you really want). I dedicate this post to David Lynch; though I disagreed with him that TM is the ONLY way to Transcend; he was, and will remain a beacon of Light to all of those who wish for a more peaceful and loving world through meditation.
Thank You ❤

Thank you so much. I have been tempted to start meditating for years, but recently David Lynch, a personal hero of mine and a devout practicioner of TM, passed away, and in memory of him his family asked fans to do TM at a specific time today, on what would've been his 79th birthday. I've been watching videos about it all morning, and even though I missed the specified time for the memorial act, I'm still going to do it. Thank you for the straight forward, easy to understand, and demystifying pointers. Something like this doesn't come easy for me because I'm very nervous and anxious and it's usually hard for me to clear my mind, but I want to try it for him. I owe him that much, and at this point, I'm beginning to suspect I owe it to myself too.
I did it this morning after watching this I came up wi th the mantra em ha which seemed to resonate with me. I haven't meditated I'm yrs and last go round it was breathing focused. This time my mind wandered as it usually does but seems like having mantra helps.I did it for 20 minutes and extended it another 10 cause after 20 I kinda felt like I was getting somewhere. Rest of the day seemed to pass w less anxiety and more focus. I did my meditation lying down as this fine young man prefers it.
You do not understand what an intiation does in your consciusnes,
@@herocorneliusvanderhorst6585 You are aligned with the line of masters that have passed down this knowledge for thousands of years. Just making up some sound and trying to meditate with it will not have the same alignment. Also the mantras have definitive effects. Any made up sound will have an effect, but what will that be? There is much more to TM than this video suggests. I appreciate anyone trying to help folks learn to meditate, but lets not call it TM when it is clearly not. Transcending is indeed miraculous and has astounding effects for everyday life as well as accumulative effects. Having said all this, everyone has their individual path and you have to follow your heart and do what you feel is right for you. I feel fortunate that I started TM early in life and stuck with it. The accumulative effect leaves me with a "magical" inner life that is permanent and ever increasing. I am indeed grateful.
@CarterCarter-up6gb You were lucky to get it earlier in life. I think in the 1970s it cost $200 (not positive.) I would like very much to learn the official TM but the $ expense is out of reach.
@@gingerroot8906 they do give scholarships which you can apply for, too :)
Finally a zero bullshit video. No metaphors. Just a step by step guide. Nice

It's NOT real TM.
He's just making stuff up.
Maybe he imagined that he could figure out how to do TM on his own; but what he's talking about has nothing to do with TM.

@@DeltaDusk125 I took the very expensive TM course and it's total BS. All you really do is a silly ritual after which they give you a personal mantra that you can find anywhere.
@@DeltaDusk125 how is TM different to what he's doing here?
I took TM 49 years ago in Palm Beach, Florida. The mantra they gave me was “Im”. It was very empowering for me at the time as a young girl. I have been meditating ever since (I’m 68 now) using lots of different techniques and have enjoyed them all. It’s an accumulative response. The more you practice, the sooner you can get your mind to relax and reach the meditative state. The goal is to achieve an alpha state of mind or brain wave. Some people go into theta. Deep breathing works just as well for me now. I believe the idea of repeating a mantra serves as a place holder in your mind keeping out all the automatic thoughts that flood our minds. When you notice your thoughts returning, just continue with the mantra until your mind settles down. Practicing for 20 minutes twice a day is recommended. When 20 minutes has passed and it feels like 5 minutes has gone by it’s the best. If Im on a tight schedule I set an alarm. Otherwise, I go as long as I feel like it. I can feel when I’m coming out of the meditative state and just slowly open my eyes and stretch.
That is my mantra also 😅. I took TM ten years ago
My son and I were told to never tell anyone out mantra. We never have.
That is also the mantra they gave me 30 years ago. Switched to ''So Ham'' because 2 syllabes is easier to couple with breath.
@@sebastiengosselin4889 I think you missed some of the 3 days checking...good luck with picking your own and attempting to make it go with breath....
I've been practicing TM for over 40 years and have never shared my mantra, which is different fron those others have mentioned.
My initiation was very profound. I heard my mantra in my mind before it was spoken to me. I felt 'high' all day, and the anxiety that normally plagued me melted away. The mantras we are given in TM are not random words but ancient Sanscrit and chosen for us because of certain criteria. The vibration of the word is important and powerful. TM is for people who are involved in the world. Other mantras can be more appropriate for lives of spiritual devotion and would make 'normal life' i.e. the material world incompatible. I use other Buddist and Hindu mantras when I am seeking spiritual connection. TM for me clears the clouds from my brain and gives me the deep relaxation I need to function in the everyday world.
Seperation from unnecessary interactions with other people really help with TM .I've been self isolating and i find it helpful with going within myself you do not need to pay money for this . I only interact with my family and a few close friends, sparsely, my word is oombra 🙏
@@bangbangzorro Nice! I totally agree. I like to always be alone when I meditate. Plus I leave my phone at home and meditate in nature. Lately I do forest bathing which is just being in nature quietly and absorbing the positive energy basically. I talk about it in my latest video.

TM is free to Veterans if they have no income there are scholarships available that will pay for them, Im a Veteran and I've been practicing TM for approximately 12 years, I desperately needed something to stop the madness that was going on in my head, I paid $100, TM should be done twice daily for 20 minutes each time, and a MANTRA is necessary for the practice but it should come to you effortlessly, one shouldn't have to force themself to remember it, it will come to you spontaneously, I dont often do it twice daily; however, I do it every morning, my sleep has always been an issue that's part of the reason I pursued TM, if you're doing it right that 20 minutes can feel like a few hours of restorative sleep, I need it to start my day, as far as the MANTRA it doesn't have to be the exact "word" you were given by your instructor to experience Transcendence.......

It was Maharishi Yogi's teacher Guru Dev who accidentally found that westerners who learned this meditation. That because they didn't understand the meanings to the mantra words. That repeating the mantra caused an enigma which caused the mind to settle into a deeper stillness. Maharishi took his findings and labeled it Deep transcendental meditation before shortening it to TM. So the author is correct saying that any small made up word that has no meaning will work.
- BTW, even Maharishi said any word will work in an interview.
I've done the course and it was useful in the sense that it explained not to grasp onto the mantra, not linked to the breath, or forced. very light and if you start thinking instead of the mantra that's fine and the when you become aware back to the mantra. Hold it very light.
Very good points! Yeah I agree with what you say. The mantra meditation should be very light. Like soft and calm, not forced. Breathing should be calm and natural. And yes, thoughts will almost always come into the mind, but just let them go and return to the mantra.
@@domdimensions9219 but your explanation is the closest I've seen to TM and spot on. Thanks ps tbf my course was 'only' £300 as got it as low waged and had some money in the bank.
Never believed that I needed another person to give me a word to start this tecnique and pay for it. Also you can do longer if you want but 20 mins twice a day is perfect. And if you go longer thats fine but most people will be affraid to do it for an hour and the official TM site actually says 20 mins twice a day. So start with that. Everybody can do that and no excuses, you have time to take 20 mins in the morning and evening.
blessings to all
Sure, you dont need someone to give you the mantra and to pay for it, but the TM organization brings it to people in a structured and tested way, and if they didnt, those people probably wouldnt have tried it. The fee is discounted to fit the budget of low income people.
Look at all the people who try the free and unstructured methods - how many of them get effective lasting benefit. Thats why the TM organization has the structured method with trained certified instructors.
I was instructed on the TM method 35 years ago. I have practiced it (20 mins, twice daily) ever since. Since the initial instruction my life has been transformed - it cured my chronic insomnia, chronic stress, and confused state of thinking.
@@graerindley6312”structured and tested” are only true on that the level of the mind only.
@@graerindley6312I think that’s all a load of bollocks. TM has cult vibes, don’t like it.
The most straightforward meditation is simply To Be. You don't need to do anything or know anything in order to be. You don't need to think in order to Be but a mantra may be useful if simply Being is too easy 🙂.. I would recommend tuning into the silence between the repetitions. After every repetition you simply slipp into the silence that follows. That silence is where it's at ... Silent aware Présence.
That's what the mantra is for, to bring you to silence. To bring you to that which you are before thoughts and feelings, you have to Be before you can have thoughts and feelings. Being comes first ..... always. This is your restful and natural state 🙏
Wow wow.. I was looking for such an answer in the comments section. All paths lead to that one feeling, what I was before everything started.❤
Recently after the strong storms and floods in NC, tm was opened up for free, over 500 people were able to do the zoom calls, meet at the TM center and receive a mantra. I have found the process amazing, I had been doing my own version of meditation for 20years but this is highly effective.
I just started a week ago. Watched a bunch of videos and thought, I can do this. I like to think of it as shutting your brain off for a while and then turning it back on. I found a mantra I feel good with, and I began doing 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15, and now 20. I do feel good, and the time just flies by. In the car by myself at lunchtime is my favorite place. Will work up to twice a day. Anyone can do it!
how did you come up with the mantra?
About to save you the TM fees. Sit down comfortably, relax your breath for 1 minute, then start gently mentally repeating your TM mantra (can be found online by age typically 2 syllables ). If you get sidetracked just gently return to the mantra. You'll feel your body relaxing/hands and legs gently going numb. Stay in that state for 20 mins, then let go of the mantra then give yourself 2-3 mins to come back to the present moment and open your eyes. You're welcome

I had taken the TM initiation from the TM official organization 4 years ago. I paid $800. Their recommended protocol is 20 minutes per session twice a day. Unfortunately I was not having good success in getting into the settled state of mind. So I gave up after 1 month. I want to give it a try again. After all I paid the money and got a few hours of training. They do provide lifetime of refresher training. I'll take one of those. Considering so many people have had success with it, it should work for me.
The same thing is breath observing meditation.
@@faizal887 Essentially the practice of Vipassana meditation.
@@deadreckoning6288 actually breath following is anapanasati, vipassana is different
You definitely should take a refresher session! It is part of your lifetime support. I hope you've done that, as having a busy mind during meditation does not mean you're doing something wrong. There's a lot more to TM than sitting (and one should sit, not lie down) and thinking your sound. And, important point, different sounds have different effects on the nervous system. (And even on our plants, right?! "The Secret Life of Plants") TM comes from a 5,000 year old tradition, and the mantras used in TM are part of that teaching. While many people don't have much respect for ancient traditions, I think there's a lot we can learn from them. Looking at our world today, it seems clear we don't have all the answers.
For that cash I'd rather do 5-meo DMT or Ayauasca. 🎉
You can actually do this just concentrating on and counting your breath. But I’ve found using the mantra helps it happen much faster and deeper quicker.
TM has been like a well guarded secret and indeed so costly. Thank you
Anything that is a secret and costs money raises the red flag for culty to me and I don’t like that
Sounds scammy
Thanks for getting straight to the point. I listened to one guy and didn't realize it was going to a be a big sell to sign up with a large sum of money.
Paying for TM is dangerous because normally these teachers will say that their training allows them to determine your vibrational frequency. This knowing will help them assign a mantra that is specific to you. However, vibrational frequencies are simply thoughts. If you are tuned into your thoughts you are tuned into your vibrational frequency. You use your intuition to determine your own mantra. Intuition is a great tool for self discovery. Always follow your intuition. Great video.
Wow ty
As a meditator for over 15 years my teacher never said that the training allows them to determine vibrational frequencies. This method works well or else I would have dropped it years ago.
I agreed TM is the best and everything is vibrational frequencies.
Even guru dev had a sign on his ashram door that said “Donations are not accepted”. Maharishi (guru dev’s book keeper/janitor) saw a market and started slingin mantras. I grew up in it. Mantras are a consciousness pool, when you start selling them you open up the pool to whoever wants to jump in. I have a lot of opinions on this. They say the cost is to “make sure you really want it”, which is like saying “the homeless just don’t want food bad enough”. It’s bs. Glad people are waking up to the truth here.
Agreed, the fact that they have aligned themselves with money makes this approach less appealing
I've been practicing TM for 50 years. It's not a scam, believe me. I first transcended within 2 weeks of starting my practice. People don't value what they don't pay for and the TM organization is a non-profit. Watch David Lynch video posted 9 days ago.
Yes, the Transcendental Meditation (TM) organization operates as a non-profit entity. In the United States, the TM program is taught by Maharishi Foundation USA, Inc., which is designated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization. Globally, the TM program is offered by non-profit educational organizations in more than 100 countries. The organization has no owners or shareholders; all revenue is reinvested to support its educational and spiritual initiatives.

If you only know how much I appreciate you spreading this message because I have made an appointment for TM yesterday. The recent death of David Lynch’s death got me into it. Thanks for this, a few months ago I was feeling really discouraged while looking into TM until I found this video. I've been meditating exactly like this, using this same mantra (tulaah) months now and it has had such a positive effect on my life :)
Thank you brother, your explanation, advice and energy helped me a lot! I assume that the reason to choose a semantically void word would be a subtle attempt to hypnotize the language brain into a non-verbal state? It seems language binds a huge variety of conceptual thought together (and then deeper are images and then deeper still are abstract symbols). Many so-called "meaningless" Zen koans have a similar approach; the mantra is just simpler and more direct method than casually considering the implication of a koan. The contrast between "my" word (which presumably only should be used in TM) and the distracting thoughts also seem to help me to not only realize when my mind gets distracted more clearly, but also the common and often more subtle succeeding judgement thought: "damn I got distracted again," which is easy to miss in a "plain" meditation without a mantra, because ANY thought is clearly a thought while contrasted with a meaningless mantra. I also think I remember reading somewhere that in traditional TM (or perhaps this may be an addition by the modern financially gated TM community), you aren't supposed to tell ANYONE your mantra. That way your brain and consciousness only associates with the truest/most sincere intention of meditating. That is, meditating in Krishnamurti's sense of it. Choice-less awareness, I belief he called it. In continuing thinking about how language relates to all of this, I'm also reminded of his quote: "The description is not the described."
Thank you again for the lovely video!
Thank you you’re a great person for disposing that fake company with much love and light
I learned Transcendental Meditation (TM) in the 1970s. At the time, there was a non-profit organization, not a company, that was lead by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who was teaching TM to anyone who wanted to learn it. I learned it, as did both of my parents. We never paid a cent. I've been to TM functions in the intervening years, and no one mentioned money. I'm not discounting Dom's experience -- what I'm saying is that I'm not sure he was connecting with the original founding organization.
David Lynch TM foundation charges plenty alright.
Wonderful, simple, nice explanation not trying to make money or scam anyone. Excellent and thanks for the guidance!!
Thank you for telling the truth , it’s not magic it’s just doing the hard work
I have been doing self directed (no instructor) TM for a few weeks and and it has been monumentally life changing. This REALLY works for me.
I do not see the instructors or groups as a "scam". I look at how David Lynch (the person who brought TM to my attention) and the people on his foundation, and even though the support seeing an instructor and paying the 2 or 3k or whatever it costs, I can't see it as malicious. I think maybe some people need that little bit of investment and little bit of mystism to buy in.
But I didn't and if you don't that's great! I encourage everyone to try this from the bottom of my heart
I've thought this before as well - the money spent and the ritualistic manner of how one is 'initiated' into TM helps people stick with it for longer. That being said, you definitely don't need to be given a specific mantra you can literally just make up anything and repeat it until it becomes just a sound, then just a vibration, then nothing.
I think you are seriously out of touch with society. It would appear that you don't have children, you don't have a mortgage, and you still live with your parents. 2 or 3k is a cruel way of promoting a technique that will be unavailable for a huge percentage of people that live in our society.
The TM course doesn't always cost that amount of money. They make allowances for people in difficult situations. I'm disabled and no real income as I had when I was working with computers. It was the best investment I've ever made. It's not just the initial session. There's group meditation, reserved videos for members, retreats, and other great additions. You just can't get the full package going alone. Yes, there's many forms of meditation. But only TM offers what other forms of meditation are unable to give to the practitioner.
you're such a crystalline being. thanks for this one ❤
My FIL is going next week to a training session and paying over 800.00 and i tried to tell him it's a cash grab but he insists on going. I'll just believe your way is the right way and try it for myself thank you! You are so kind to post this!!! ❤❤❤

Thank you! This was very informative and inspiring. I picked a Scottish Gaelic word for my mantra. I don’t speak Scottish Gaelic, so it’s not part of my vocabulary, but I like knowing it means something. I meditated repeating my mantra, then went to bed and I slept better than I have in a long time. Today I meditated in the morning and midafternoon and I feel my focus and sense of calm were heightened. I’ve meditated in the past, walking and breathing, but I now understand the concept of having a mantra, and I really like the idea!
Thank you. I watched another video where it was claimed that you need some sort of qualified support by a person with some specific competence / license. I asked what the reason for that might be. It didn’t make sense, because TM was described as so easy and natural that anyone can do it. I got no answer. Not yet, anyway. So, thank you for calling out money-hungry scammers in this field. I’ll try what you taught here and also do some additional research on my own. We’ll see what it can do for me and I will save some money, too.
Thankyou for this excellent explanation.
One thing he said about how subtle the results are: for me, the change was so slow it was hardly noticed except for startling, sudden realizations. My first was when I was able to count the strokes when I stropped my razor all the way to 50. I could previously never get much past 10 or 15 before losing count, but suddenly, and ever since, I could keep count to 50. My second was that even though I had flown a lot for decades, it had always given me extreme anxiety. Suddenly, even very turbulent flights made me hardly think about it. There were MANY such changes in my mental state, particularly around 4-8 months after starting.
I wish you continued success. It's great to see a young man discussing interesting topics, especially TM which I'm trying to get into, and i love your approach. Keeping it simple and without having to succumb to the cult-like and high cost tactics which I want ro avoid.
Thank you and all the best.
Same here ! This man saved me from giving away my very small income.
Excellent video. You described it accurately. The only thing I can add is that they tell you to do it twice a day for 20 minutes each time. Other than that, you are correct. I did it for a few years in the 1980's, but stopped because it seemed to slow my thinking down. I sort of lost my edge so to speak. But it really is a profound thing.
There was one day after a few weeks of doing this that I just got overwhelmed with an extremely euphoric sensation that just started happening in my entire body. I had to cut that session short because I just couldn't stop laughing at how weird it felt, and my energy for the rest of that day was just heightened like I was above the petty problems we come across everyday and I had my mind set on more important things like my goals and family. The mind is the most powerful drug lol.
Wow! That's amazing. I have also had really euphoric and strange sensations when meditating. It can definatly take you to new dimensions!
Thank you. 😊
Thank you for posting. I paid that 1300 for the lessons that seemed like a huge waste of money and time - I think there were sessions I had to attend live with a small group, such a scam. And then the whole "secret" word given to each of us. Don't tell anyone. So ridiculous. There's a lot of hush hush around exactly what the technique is and you expained it so simply, thank you again. I really thought I was missing something and stopped trying but it makes sense what you said about making it routine. I'm going to try again. :)
The first time I got to the deepest point I ever went into TM I was hallucinating shadow faces trying to squeeze themselves through somesort of black viel. Almost like they were trying to come through the back of my eyelids.
I cant remember if it was the same session but I also started seeing spinning elaborate geometric shapes smashing into another, scattering and reforming into new spinning shapes.
I haven't done TM in awhile because the face thing kind of tripped me out. But willing to try some more cause the shapes thing was kind of cool.
Uhhh

Good for you! I studied TM in 1970 in NY after Mahesh Yogi taught a teacher seminar in Maine earlier that year. One of his students was my martial arts instructor who had been a SF Army combat soldier and instructor in both Korea and Vietnam, and he was invited to study with the Maharishi. My "sensei" came back and held a few seminars in Brooklyn while Yogi was still in the USA. So I learned from a direct student of his and the course only cost $30 (I went for free.) It was transformational for a 12 year old kid who was always in trouble. But by the 1980s, my sensei left TM and began teaching his own methods of meditation that he had learned in Asia. He felt TM was becoming more of an industry and less of an art. I continued practicing TM, still do, but I also went into deeper paths of meditation, including weekend retreats in Zen meditation (in the US and Japan,) which is much more profound. The good thing about TM is that it is super simple and takes very little time. It can become part of a person's daily routine, but it has little to do with deeper journeys into the self (spiritual or cognitive/philosophical.) It is simply a method for relaxation and physical rejuvenation, which is also important. The course would definitely be worth $200-$300, but not $1,000+.
I am having a clear out this year unsubscribing to all the negative unhelpful junk i watched last year and replacing it with with productive useful inetractive content that will benefit me like yours. Well done good post. young man.
Awesome! We should all strive for that.
Same here, clearing out TH-cam junk that’s irrelevant for my path every day.
thank you soo much God bless

Thank you sweetheart ❤ i used to meditate years ago then i stopped,i need to start again today....
awesome ! i lost myself in collage and find myself again 10 years later. Thanks bro! lets fly
thanks for the video! i like your glasses and hair!!
What a lovely offering- clear, kind and generous. Thank you 🙏
I bought Surya Ram Mantra Meditation for 5$, which was exactly describing technique. They sent me audio of guided meditation and PDF file❤. I'm sure it will help a lot of people🎉
What the name of the pdf?
I paid Au$800 in the early 90's. I didn't regret it as supposedly the money went to pay for the TM office space rental, also donations to TM projects, e.g. agricultural education, etc.
I got relief the very first time. Also yes colors out in the world are much more vivid
I use “Nam Myoho Renge Kyo” as I heard it on an episode of The Monkees when Mickey Dolenz was meditating. I don’t know what the translation is, but it’s complex enough to keep me from falling asleep during the meditation. And every single time if I try this laying down, I fall asleep…..so don’t do that lol
Thanks mate. In Australia 🇦🇺 the price is about $1500 AUD. I have watched a few videos describing much of what you’ve nicely described. I will follow your method.

How is it going?
@@jessicahutchinson8491 it’s going really well.. and no large price tag 🏷️ 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
People wanting to go viral has really helped so much information come out from hiding
Finally, somebody who said what I've been saying....if TM is so easy and effortless, why are they keeping the method so secret and charging thousands for instruction on how to do it?
Don’t fall for it. So easy to fall for vulnerable people.
I salute your efforts in learning TM by yourself. What you have described here is more closely like the Relaxation Response by Dr. Herbert Benson. It will work to some extent but if you want the full benefits of TM the mental repetition of the mantra should be done EFFORTLESSLY, FAINTLY & INNOCENTLY. Transcending is a very easy & natural but subtle process, the full benefits can only be gained if practiced correctly. People who want to learn transcending by DIY process should think about their time and dedication which could potentially be wasted if the correct steps are not followed. Hence, the need for an experienced teacher, however, there are other avenues to learn transcending. One Giant Mind app is a good starting point. “When the pupil is ready, the teacher will appear.” Good luck to all TM seekers.
How did the original teacher learn? No this is totally doable by yourself, most simply want to strengthen working memory and reset the nervous system. Not to have ego death.
Yes brotha!
You are correct.
You need a certified teacher who have spent thousands of munneys in order to get the courses and certifications.
Also remember to mention Ophra and other tv personalities to build up your own credibility.
Direct interested people to certified websites where they describe at nauseum the benefits and stuff while never actually going into the meditation or any actual steps.
Because you cannot do it by yourself , much less if you are not going to spend the munny, after all what will they eat and how will the teachers support themselves.

Shame on you for insinuating that you need to pay for spirituality. The need for keeping the mantra secret and shelling out hundreds of dollars depending upon a tiered system of how much money the person makes will cause you to reap what you sow.
@@technobliss796 Dude there are literally hundreds of free books and videos from spiritual teachers from the same school as Maharishi. Shame on you for suggesting we should never have to pay for something we value.
Yes, there’s so many scams out there for TM and as you say it’s so simple and free on line
For some reason I think sometimes people feel when they pay for something it’s better but it’s not with TM it’s the doing of anything that makes it work and you explained it perfectly, thanks 🙏
A mantra is 'given' you by TM foundation, they make it seem mystical.
Frankly one can use any word.
'Lam' was the word given to me by a similar course which I've tried using it few times.
You can still use except add a b at the end and chops. “Lamb Chops”
@@nejolo9563 May not work unfortunately. I'm vegetarian.
Not so
Lam is is the Mantra for the root chakra that’s why it was given to you
How is it pronounced? Please spell phonetically.
I learned TM in 1972 for $35. I became a TM teacher, but I haven't taught in several decades. What this earnest young man describes is not TM. Yes, TM is over-priced, but it is a very powerful meditation technique. I still practice it twice a day. When you learn TM a guru puja is performed and you are given a bija mantra. I would not recommend thinking a random word.
Exactly
Absolutely
Please note TM is special meditation which needs Beej Mantra. It's different for each individual and one is not supposed to share it. The reason is - this mantra is given to clear the path of energy to avoid disturbances of thoughts spread in universe which affects one's mind to attain calmness easily. In simple words - Beejmantra works like an weapon which helps you to clear all the traffic (of thoughts of others spread in universe). It clears your path and helps you to attain "'zero thought mind' effectively and easily which actually helps u to attain inner peace. However one is not given TM Mantra takes a lot time to reach this state. If many people are using same beejmantra they crosses each other's thought frequency and they take time to reach "zero thought stage". It's like if all people in city are using same single road for traveling.
Scam
Steps toward transcendental meditation
1. Get comfortable (sit or lie down comfortably). Relax and breath deeply
2. Avoid taking caffeine before or being in a state of hunger
3. Try to avoid being in a stressful mindset, as much as possible
4. Repeat a "mantra": that's a non word that you've made up that you feel comfortable repeating. Too-la is an example. Say it repeatedly in you mind, not out loud.
5. Do this as long as you can (between 30 mins and 2 hours, initially aim for 15-20 mins)
6. As random thoughts enter your mind, let them go and concentrate on saying your mantra to yourself.
7. After a while you'll be able to do this without thoughts coming in Consider working towards two 30 min sessions, twice a day.
8. You may not feel the benefits on day one. But over time you'll find improvement in your calmness, strength, and focus, etc.

@@kevintribhuwan6997 I’m not sure why it’s obvious, other forms of meditation have you concentrate on an area of a wall.

Thankyou for that
Thanks for explaining all of this! So for 1/2 an hour or so you just say the same word in your head. At some point do you stop? Does creativity spring out of the meditation? Or come at other times during the day?
Thank you so much for sharing this technique freely with the world. 😊
Thanks dear for your divine guidance 🙏
Many many thanks, Dom for sharing; Great presentation and very valuable. I actually was initiated at a TM Center but your simplified technique actually works better for me.
Amazing! Its cool to know that my method works for some people. Sometimes people say the opposite in the comments. Sometimes people say that what I am saying is bullshit. If they present a valid argument, I will listen to them, but if they do so in a rude way I just delete the comment. But the thing is, what I'm teaching in this video is not exactly the same as what they teach in the TM organization. As you said it is just a simplified technique. I just learned this from a youtube video of an acquaintance of mine on youtube years ago, and now I'm just spreading the knowledge.
How dare you tell people that their life changing experiences with TM are fake. I practice TM and it works for me. Don’t try to change my vision or perspective.

Mantra meditation. Personally I use IAM, the sound not any meaning. Holding the mantra lightly, bringing the attention back lightly to the mantra when you notice the thoughts, the mantra will sometimes fade away leaving only the intention of the mantra. Repetition over time with no expectation is what will bring the changes. Life is just ...better somehow, more joy, more drive to engage in the world. It very subtle and yet the changes are real. Didnt pay a cent. Thanks Yogani and AYP ❤
i paid the money took the course , group meditations .i wonder was this necessary . this gentleman might be right
For sure it wasn't necessary. How is going the meditation now? 😊
I think the paying for it is the person teaching you how to do it
Effortlessly and
Not think of the mantra I think he gives you a way to do it or strategies and tricks on the effortlessly part. I think if you learn it yourself its not giving you the deep 110% TM . And if we do it its maybe 40-60 of it.
@@nagodio That may be a good point. Perhaps I would have reached deeper meditations a lot faster with the tricks they teach. It just seems to me that they charge way too much.
Your voice is very calming , you should create guided meditations
Agree ❤
Thanks fo the video, bro
@@nunodorgan no problem man! My pleasure. Subcribe for more videos and check out my newest video on my channel where I respond to the comments of this video.
Wonderful video on TM!! Thank you! Appreciate the mystery has been revealed! Giving it a go!
interesting you note avoiding hunger and caffeine etc. I notice these are identified in Buddhism as hindrances to achieving mental clarity and progress =).
Im curious if you have found in your experience your meditation has caused you any kind of change in view or insight into your sense of self or the universe?
Interesting how they say the same thing is buddhism. I never studied buddhism very in depth, but it is interesting definatly. I definatly think my experience with meditation has changed my point of view, and also my insight into my sense of self and the universe. Because before I did meditation, I felt more anxious and confused. But after meditating I felt like my mind was clear, and after meditating I always felt that the world looked and felt brighter. Furthermore, I have had some amazing meditations where I felt connected with the universe and very inspired. But to achieve such benefits, they accumulate over time. You probably won't feel a change overnight.
How fast or slow should the word be repeated? And does the word's repetition correlate with inhale and exhale?
Much love brother thank you for posting this. You have a pure heart!
Thank you for this. Claiming to have the key to peace of mind, and then gate keeping it never sat right with me. As interested as I’ve always been, the moment the community made it feel like an elite cult, I lost all interest. Assigning mantras, which let’s face it is actually buying mantras, and a crazy article about how it was being run like a scam, and several ppl had been assigned the same mantra to boot. I hope it’s really as easy as you describe it, because it’s made out to seem like an unattainable life changing benefit for regular people, which ironically are the ones who need it most.
Thanks, brother. Really good, simple video. God bless 🙏🏼
Awesome video thank you! And everyone have really great comments ❤ thanks again
