As of literally today when this video went up, Activision just removed their Wii U listings on their Call of Duty server status tracker, right after the final person online on Black Ops 2 quit out. It seems like the Wii U servers have officially been shuttered forever - Massive congratulations to MERKOZ for seemingly being the final Wii U Call of Duty gamer ;_;7
Oh hey, I was Voracion in the Intro MH clip. Was a blast playing with you. Black Ops 2 on Wiiu was probably my most played CoD. Lots of great memories on there, Wish I had a working WiiU at the time of shutdown.
If anyone knows a potential way to create new online servers for CoD on Wii. Modern warfare reflex edition. We are willing to pay good money to hire you to recreate the servers!
If their online is impermanent and they are such a hostile entity to their fans, piracy almost sounds like an equivalent quality service that's far cheaper..? Also, i haven't seen you in a youtube comment in like 5 years. I'm surprised you're still kicking!
okay so i looked it up oct-dec quarter (nintendo’s fiscal third quarter) saw ~137 billion yen in profit that’s ~863 million usd 0.1% of that is $863,000
Declassified Sweep! Still kicking! Jokes aside, while I never played the Wii versions of Call of Duty, it is sad to know that nothing is being done to archive these games' online. A shame that the only way to play these games on Wii is to play either the campaign, zombies, spec ops or extinction. Great video as always!
@@shotenno I was gonna say this. Activision did indeed have a 10-year deal to host CoD on Nintendo platforms, though it will probably be for Switch 2 (which is it weird to say it'll be sad to see the end of crunchy ports on Nintendo/handheld consoles?), so it will probably have a lot more parity between versions like Fortnite currently does.
These versions of these games were a huge part of my childhood. Because I grew up in poverty, having free online was a seriously huge thing for my family and myself. My older siblings down the line had thier own xboxes and paid for thier own online, but I was there on the wii/wii u versions having a lot of good fun regardless of some missing content, worse graphics and performance. It was a lot of fun to play a nearly identical version of mw3 and Bo1 that had a de-master feel to them. I'll seriously miss this little niche part of my childhood. I don't think were ever going to have an era where we have ports like this and that kinda makes me even more sad in some ways. At the very least though, I'm glad we have these tiny communities to share the collective experiences we all had with these games. It's a nice little silver lining to all this.
Back in December I was in my local dollar general and I saw they were selling old games on a shelf above the counter they were selling Xbox 360 games that require the Kinect ps3 games 3DS games and ps vita games and I saw a blue case I knew that only the Wii U had blue cases for the games so I bought it and it was four bucks and it just dance 2017 I got a Wii U game even though I don’t have the console
y'know I also played black ops on wii for a decade, basically until it was shutdown. There's a non-zero chance we were in the same lobby at some point.
sucks that the wii versions like, dont even have bots or splitscreen or LAN or anything. At least when xbox and ps3 go there'll be ways to either pretend you're playing online or setup a LAN party if someone has the space for it.
Truly the end of an era, I can’t thank CoD on Wii and Wii U enough for introducing me to incredible people in my life, and allowing myself to actually be good at something 😅. I can’t play my shooters without Wii remotes, I’m spoiled. Great lil video Lexx!
I very much enjoyed the Wii U versions in their prime. Remember when we thought we were going to get proper DLC for Black Ops II and Ghosts? I’m gonna miss these games. I always wanted to grow up with the Wii titles as well, but I only got a taste of that tightly-knit community with GoldenEye on the Wii back then. Such a shame to see these games go down.
even though i've never been a huge fan of cod, my heart goes out to the folks who associated these games with their childhood / formative years. it's so sad to see this sort of "end of an era" unfolding as we speak especially knowing how disposable online servers are in the grand scheme of things. 😔
I have so much memories with blackops 2 on wii u. It was my most played game on the system. Sadly the match making system was very broken for last 2 years and getting into a game was very hard.
Yeah, it was actually gonna have the Revolution map pack but they scrapped it, like for gods sake the storefront in the game is still in the code and you can get it back with mods (not anymore since the shutdown but yeah).
I remembwr sinking some serious hours on MW4: Reflex edition. Despite being well into the lifetime of the Wii u and years after the port relased, i had maybe 5 full days worth if playtime and i reached prestige twice. More often than not, matchmaking was instantaneous and nearly always always a full lobby.
I was always more of an offline girlie, so my childhood is still accessible, as long as there are enough DSs in this world to play Modern Warfare through download play, hold a grenade and crouch (which the devs never thought anyone would do because it makes your player t-pose about the map), I'll be able to relive those memories. However, for anyone who has fond memories playing these games online, I'm sorry for your collective losses. WiiU and 3DS online will be forever remembered in the hearts of any poor Nintendo fan who experienced the 2015-2016 drought.
Never had a Wii U, but strangely I'm gonna miss the online stuff. Though I wouldn't be surprised to see something that will allow for people to play these games online again properly. I wonder what the next Port Patrol episode will be (and also when we'll get the next stream). Would be nice to see a video on a certain franchise that was inspired by GoldenEye 007 for the N64 and in my opinion, one of the greatest films featuring Tom Hanks of all time.
@@LEXXPortPatrol Yes, apart from this one. Though it could be anything. I'm a simple man. I see Lexx upload, I watch. You could upload a video of just paint drying and I'd still watch it.
Yes. Wii had a great CoD community, and the online was something special, with Treyarch providing fantastic wiimote control schemes that let me play with a precision online I couldn't come close to with dual sticks. Hopefully the mod community will come through once more for WiiUBlOps2
Growing up, i had the wii versions of Black Ops and MW3. Given it was all i had to experience those games at the time, i thought they were really fun. Though i never liked aiming with the wii mote and just used the classic controller. after that i got a ps3 so i never experienced the wii u versions of BO2 or Ghosts (not that i would've wanted to play Ghosts regardless)
BO1 wii was fun and wonky as fuck. Recoil was funny - I remember sniping someone camping on the array sniping tower from the opposite spawn on the other side of the map with the ak74u rapid fire
I'm... not sure if ik what you mean haha. You mean like you could tilt the mouse to do a killshot? Or like you shake the mouse to reload? Sorry I'm genuinely stumped.
what a shame. cod4 was the first cod i ever got to play growing up, and i sadly played it late due to the wii port taking a while, but man it was worth it. sucks that these stupid corporations just show every single time that at the end of the day, all that matters is how much greed they can keep getting away with, instead of making the customer happy and wanna keep buying their products. oh well :(
I am sad but hopeful. So many games has gotten private server support! Just a shame no one from the cod wii fanbase seem to have the knowledge. But someday im sure we will be able to return!

This reminds me of the Noble 14 players on Halo 2 when they shut those servers down...These kind of videos and last stands make me cry :(

F for the Wii U and 3DS. 😢 I wish I could go back to the US launch day and buy one.
@@STARSVeteran Same, one of my favorite modern Mario game is on it (3D Land) which I feel the world has forgotten, that game is amazing.

Nintendo hates people who who refuse to leave closed servers, they even permanently banned one guy for refusing to log off Super Mario Maker!
Nintendo hates people in general
And nintendo hates fangame from Mario Flash game, Don't forget too.
@@Rebel_fan Them DMCA'ing Mario Royal annoyed me the most as it was a far better Battle Royale game than Super Mario 35 was.
Permanently banned from what? The online service they were shutting down anyway?

there is no shot that these servers cost anywhere near even 0.1% of nintendo’s quarterly profits
okay so i looked it up
oct-dec quarter (nintendo’s fiscal third quarter) saw ~137 billion yen in profit
that’s ~863 million usd
0.1% of that is $863,000
Oh wow, so even with that guess I was being generous :')
Gamers are gaslighted into thinking server shutdowns are valid due to cost while fan servers run for free 🤦

The fact that the PS3 AND XB360 outlived four of Nintendo's online stores just baffles me it shows how Nintendo doesn't care
Four? Oh, right, the DSi existed
this is not a Nintendo issue, it's an Activison issue
You know, there was a time before recorded history... where events happened, and then were just vaporized by time for eternity
There were two call of duty games on the GameCube before the Wii games
Here’s hoping Nintendo lets another call of duty on their system so this doesn’t have to be the end of these ports .
Im sure theyd happily have it, though nowadays I bet it would probably only amount to something like a port of the mobile Warzone game to Switch
Didn't they make a deal to bring cod to switch?
@@shotenno I was gonna say this. To be honest Call Of Duty is in it's worst era so far.

Black Ops and MW3 online on Wii were an experience, I really hope the folks at Wiimmfi or WiiLink WFC are able to revive these games.

Wish black ops 2 got the dlc maps on the wii u
Suprised you never mentioned that woulda loved to play mob of the dead on wiiu
It's weird because they went back and added Firefall as a free DLC map to Ghosts way after it had come out on all other platforms, its a shame!
They also had nuketown 2025 for the Wii U version of black ops ii as the only dlc that version of the game ever got
Yeah, it was actually gonna have the Revolution map pack but they scrapped it, like for gods sake the storefront in the game is still in the code and you can get it back with mods (not anymore since the shutdown but yeah).

Black Ops 1 on Wii was my first taste of Cod zombies as a kid, good times 🥲
Were every Wii COD capture from the Wii U? Because I'm impressed with the quality of the image, I remember COD on the Wii being a lot more blurry
component cables make a difference
Its insane how much the barely working games on pc still cost the full price! There is an discount right now and it costs 20 euros.
Still sad that I never was able to get matched with others on Wii

Did bo2 and bo1 have the zombies dlcs?
Nope! Not even Nuketown Zombies - And BO1 only had Kino, no Five
