Justin Gatlin has got to be the most mentally tough athlete in the world. Everyone was against him, EVERYONE. The spectators, the media, and even the unprofessional commentators could not hide their disdain for him. Getting boooed at every race whenever he is shown on the screen or his name is announced. I bet he was even tested more than everyone else. Despite all of that, he stayed focussed and got the win over the greatest 100m sprinter in history in his final race.

Tell you all something, Usain Bolt had retired from track and field right after Rio Olympics. It was the organizers who begged him to compete in London would championship with a view to pull the crowd. He was a crowd puller who caused the organizers of the games to make billions of dollars.
Usain was not in any shape to compete. It fact, he came to the game not to compete but to show up with a view to pull the crowd and also to please the organizers by making them raked in billions of dollars because he was not a legend only but an ambassador for the sport.

When you've reach the top of your game, you gotta know when to come down or you'll be taken down. That is a version of Bolt who obviously ran out of motivation and lacked the thirst to bring his best. There was nothing else left for him to chase or accomplish!!!

He was injured most of that season, and running sub 10 was an achievement in itself. If he didn’t have any motivation, he would have quit after Beijing 2008.

@@TheBrass18 You started well by saying he was struggling with injury that year which could explain his slowest time ever at a major championship since 2008, as he ran 9.81 at Rio Olympics 100m final the year before. Bolt himself said that he doesn't like training but his coach has been able to get him into shape for major championships. He loves to party and he enjoys the many distractions and I think that as an athlete that worked for him when it came to performing under pressure at finals opposed to his fellow country man Asafa Powell. Building up to the 2015 WC, again, Bolt was struggling with injury and Gatlin was running PB times all season and he along with Rogers and others were running off their mouths dissing Bolt. Bolt said that while he lacked motivation up to that point, their words just propelled him & motivated him to train through it all just to come and shut them up. We saw his struggle in the final against Gatlin, but a win is a win and he shut them up & all the critics once again.
You ended bad when you said he if he lacked motivation, he would have quitted since 2008 Olympics, why would a man lose "the hunger" after just one championship as oppose to many in his??

@@Yamanatshi12 Dude, you don't know what you're talking about. A) The testers broke the law by illegally trespassing on private property. Instead of using the keypad to enter Christian's apartment complex (as property management requires ALL VISTORS to do), they parked outside and walked around the gate. If they had used the keypad, it would have called his phone so he could let them in. He was five minutes away and could have returned home in plenty of time for the test. B) NO ONE saw the testers waiting at his apartment. C) AIU and CAS both said they DO NOT suspect Christian of using PEDs. D) He has been tested more than any other sprinter in the world over the last four years and never once had as much as a positive A Sample. He has not missed "several" tests. Go get educated before you post so you don't look so stupid.
