Also new to the world of doll repainting/face ups. Art first I was trying to stick to the most popular methods of watercolor pencils and chalk pastels but for some reason I've found myself struggling with the use of dry application. I much prefer the use of liquid/cream application.
New subscriber here!! Just starting in all this world of repaint, very excited but also very complicated! It’s about practice but it’s important to practice with the right stuff, thanks for sharing you knowledge, I have noticed sometimes people is kinda selfish sharing this kind of things, so thank you for your kindness
I'm going to be restoring our childhood brunette Midge I purchased Liquitex Her face is a little damaged so I hope the paint takes I heard it's best to dilute the paint with water and to make two thin layers instead of one thick one to prevent streaks or that "caked on" look I also bought a binder for the paint to adhere I hope it works! Thank you for this very informative post
I have to say i love the Vallejo paints, but you have them To shake really good, and i have little metal balls in every Bottle .Works for me fine on my Resin Heads, on Vinyl i only used it on my Rose so far .And i use them on a wet palett .Oh im Anne by the way 😂i see im in the wrong Account
Hi Anne, oh shake them! Good to know. I have also had that bottle for a while. I will have to do an update and try it. Paint and its behavior can vary from age, climate, manufacturers, etc...
I like to use acrylic inks. Some of the india inks tend to bleed when re-wet (like when I reseal it with glaze). They come in bottles with droppers inside.
Hello. I have not painted anything in my adult life…except walls. So I was wondering if you could help. I just want to change some Barbie shoes from pink to black but so afraid the color will rub off. Could you tell me what to use to prime, paint, and seal? Thanks so much.
Yes that is tricky. I spray paint them but there is a catch. Sometimes they get sticky. Especially if they are made of vinyl. If that happens I paint mod podge over it. Hope that helps.
Wow I am surprised about Createx. The new bottle you also have I didn´t used yet on a doll but I used the acrylics of Createx for decades and never saw them that thin. I wonder if they changed the formula. What I also have as black I forgot to mention is AeroColor from the brand Schmincke. It´s pretty fluid, so I never add water to it. It comes in a glass bottle with a pipette as dispenser and I think I paid about the same price for it as for the Createx acrylics.
Do you think mostly every acrylic paint would work? I painted a barbie completely white once and the paint went all dry and gross to touch if you know what I mean
New subscriber and I must say your work is amazing! Can you please give me some advise. I have never painted a doll before but I have a baby doll (preemie size) that I want to repaint as Darth Maul. My boyfriend & I are huge Star Wars fans and I want to make him a special present. What would be the best paint to use since I have to cover a large area and maintain full coverage? Base coat? Top coat/sealant? I appreciate any advice you are willing to give!
I always look forward to your videos!! Thanks so much for all the information you share with us. 💕 I love Golden Acrylics and have always used them but now after watching this, I really want to try the Liquitex Acrylic Gouache! Also, the doll you used in this video, has she had her nose resculpted? If so, what did you use and how? If it's not too much to ask, could you make a video on how to resculpt/reshape the nose on dolls? 💕
Hi Michael... not the entire face. Just the eyes, lips, eyebrows and hairline. However, back in the day before PanPastels I did paint a few dolls entire face with acrylics if I wanted a white head for a ghost or vampire. Or something unusual. ❣
th-cam.com/video/vUnqT-BKqRw/w-d-xo.html Hey Michael, Here is a video of me repainting. I usually do a little outline with colored pencils and then paint with acrylic. Xo

I like a combo of dry and wet for sure. I started out as a painter so it just made sense to me.
Wow!! What an incredible video! Thank you so much!!

I hope it worked out.
I love craft paints for lip colors and eyeshadows!
Yes me too. Crafts paints definitely have their place in repainting dolls. 😍
THANK YOU SO MUCH I NEEDED THIS
Omgosh, so happy it helped!💝
I like doing lashes with regular pencil or colored pencils
Of course you can do that.
so if you had to choose, between Vallejo Model Color and Liquitix Acrylic Gouche which over all does better for a face up over all
I am a fan of the Liquitex Acrylic Gouache personally.
Thank you so much!!
Thank you!
So do you spray after you paint the doll? What does the spray do?

I’m so glad you did this. I have terrible trouble using acrylic paint, it just doesn’t work for me, I’m so going to try the acrylic gouache now x
I think you will love it. Great price too!

I have a set of inks but I am always afraid they don't dry on vinyl so I am hesitant to use them that way.

Yes this was thin. I shook it after and rechecked but it was the same. Possible new formula

Did you spray paint it? Sometimes there is a chemical reaction.

Well I did not see this unfortunately. If you see this, email me at beautifulfacesart@gmail.com
I got into repainting dolls, I use acrylic paint for painting their heads.
Me too.

Thank you so much. I am glad it was heopful. Iwas kind of playing around with that nose but yes, absolutely, I can make a video.
I wondered the same thing.
Do you still need to put a varnish to the Liquitex?
Hi! Yes I still seal with both MSC and liquitex on the eyes and lips.
@@LaurieLeighArt Can I use Focus matte medium varnish too?
@@xxleojltgxx6311 I have never used that. In place of MSC?
@@LaurieLeighArt Ima try to explore more about paints and varnish.
Thanks!
Is tamiya acrylic paint also good?
Hi! I am not familiar with this paint. If it is acrylic it should be fine.
@@LaurieLeighArt it is also acrylic. But a bit thinner viscosity
what about for skin coloring
I use PanPastels for skin tones.
I sealed my repaint doll with matte varnish and it's very shiny what why and what should I do can you help me
Get a can of mr super clear flat uv cut. Shake well and give it two coats.
watching because G3 Frankies stitches rub off so easily and I want to fix asap along with adding her bolts
I hope you found an answer.
This paint is permanent right?
You do the whole face with acrylics
