In order of significance, my top four from Bill's list are: #5 - Love what you do, because without passion, success is meaningless. #3 - Work hard, because it takes hard work to get the best results. Anything less than hard work provides results that beg the question, "Could I have done better?". #1 - Have energy, because if hard work represents an asset, energy represents the liquidity of that asset. One must have energy in order to shift their hard work onto different projects as they become more/less important. #7 - Ask for advice, because nobody knows everything. Receiving feedback and different viewpoints will provide opportunities for you to focus your energy more effectively.
My only aims in the starting of my own business are; 1. To earn as much as I do in full time work 2. To value my customers and provide them with great quality and value 3. To regularly donate to various charities or individuals in need I genuinely believe, given my current discipline in setting aside start up capital, maintaining motivation and learning/researching what is necessary to start up a business, that I can achieve. This is a pure form of self belief I've not felt in a while and I attribute it to my pure intentions. I hope to be, and believe I can be, successfull but being rich is not my aim. I would suggest Evan to read some books suggested by successful people such as bill gates. If that alone were the only rule you put up there, and you read books suggested by self made multi millionaires and billionaires religiously daily, and you applied the information to your life, you will find success. As I am doing exactly that in my own life and have seen complete transformation and seeing the budding financial successes of it. My quality of life has completely changed as well as my pocket book.

I hit that barrier at the same time in the mid 70’s when I was asked if I could write a statistical analysis program nobody was able to do in two years, “ Do you think you can do it?” I said “Yes” though AI didn’t know at the time. Did it in a month. Never made any money.
He is pretty amazing, i remember his one quote "i was a very bad student, but a great learner" He gets dropped out of harvard, but he pursues himself to learn something, to explore more, and now he is one of the most successful men in the world.

人間は生活の中に習慣などのルーティンがあると思います。ひたすら似たようなコトが似たようにいつまでも続くと、刺激が欲しくなったり物忘れが少しずつでてきたり、視野が狭くなったり。そういうことが起きてしまいがちかも知れません。
あえてギリギリまでやらずに、ギリギリになってからやり始める。これって意外と脳にも刺激的かも。私は好きです。繰り返しおっしゃしゃっていた興奮ですね。追い詰められても、できるか？できないか？を楽しむ。私の中ではそんな感じです。そういったことを繰り返すことで、人間として得られるものは大きいかも知れませんね。財産と言えるかも。マイクロソフト社がまさに象徴なのかも知れませんね。スゴイなあ。羨ましく思います。
ギリギリになってからやるわけでもなく、ちゃんとルーティンをこなしながらも本人なりに色々見出して、才能を伸ばす方もいるでしうね。
日本人がまさにそういうタイプかも。さすがにそれに飽きてしまう日本人もいますけどね。やっぱりアメリカ人のそういう姿が魅力的に見えて、強く憧れ、その憧れがいまだに続いてるってカンジですね。
新鮮に見えるから、真似したくなっちゃう。

I would suggest Evan to read some books suggested by successful people such as bill gates. If that alone were the only rule you put up there, and you read books suggested by self made multi millionaires and billionaires religiously daily, and you applied the information to your life, you will find success. As I am doing exactly that in my own life and have seen complete transformation and seeing the budding financial successes of it. My quality of life has completely changed as well as my pocket book.
