New Orleans is one in a million. I went there on vacation, got totally wasted on Bourbon Street, and ended up somewhere I shouldn't have been. You can't always jump to conclusions though. A car full of black people saw us, pulled up, and told us they'd give us a ride, because we were in a dangerous part of town. They drove us to our hotel, and didn't ask for shit. Of course, I kicked them some money for gas, but they never asked. They legit were looking out, because they new we were in danger, walking drunk, in the area we were in. That was honestly the best lookout I've probably ever gotten in my life. Just because people live in a bad area, it doesn't make them bad people.
Fortunately for me, that didn't happen, but it sounds like you've experienced this injustice first hand. That truly is a heinous crime that was committed against you. You have my deepest sympathy and condolences. I'm sure you've been very brave until now, but everyone has their breaking point. That being said, there is no need to project your experience on to the rest of society. I know it makes you feel powerful and in control, but to the rest of us, you just look weak and small. I know that you're angry and ashamed of the way your body responded, and you now battle feelings and urges that both disgust and excite you. It's not your fault, and it doesn't make you less of a man. You didn't ask for this to happen, you're a victim. Hostility and deflection aren't going to solve your confusing feelings though. I'd be more than happy to send you the number for a 24 hour crisis hotline. My hope is that after speaking with trained counselors, and working through some of those pent up feelings of rage and self loathing, you may set forth on your path to recovery. Don't let what happened to you, define you. Judging by your post, you're obviously a really classy guy, so don't worry, nobody thinks less of you than we already did. I was living in the 9th Ward when Katrina hit and working at 859 Convention Center Blvd (Marriott Hotel) where I stayed until finally evacuating the city when the national guard arrived. I left NOLA for good in 2006. Though I wish them folks all the best, videos like this one remind just how slow change happens for some parts of the city. For those of you who remember.... The job to people ratio has always been one of the worst in the country. You pretty much know you have to sell drugs to survive. The best thing to do is follow my example. Hustle but don't spend your money on material things. Save up enough to move. That's what I did. Bought a house elsewhere with drug money; got a regular job and now I'm 10 years away from retirement. I can't believe I made it out that dangerous city. You can too. When I bought my house I was like damn; I'm actually going to live.

I'm sure many are. I was totally disgusted how the city, state, US government not only sat by while people/children had no food & water(others dead on the street), but kept other Americans out who wanted to help their fellow citizens. Talk to someone who speaks clearly. I watched hurricane Katrina 24/7 when it hit and the aftermath. I'm really interested in what's going on in the 9th ward and other parts of the city as well. I'm sure many are. I was totally disgusted how the city, state, US government not only sat by while people/children had no food & water(others dead on the street), but kept other Americans out who wanted to help their fellow citizens. I'll never forgive or forget.
