The RC was off bro. When you press the power button once on the RC it only shows the battery level. You had to turn it on the same way as the drone. I'm sure you have it figured out now.

Nice video, I've had the exact same issue but I fixed it!!! What I eventually found the cause to be was that my phone's USB connection was faulty! Even though my phone charges, when I plugged it into a PC, it did not show up as a recognised device. You must have this to communicate with the controller. I used another phone, downloaded the DJI fly app and boom all working!! You do not need to press anything to connect, if it's all set up correctly, it will automatically recognise your drone type. That worked for me I plugged into my tablet and boom issue resolved, my phone is older and the usbc port is not very good any more so I’m sure that’s what the issue was in my case
SOLVED! I had the same problem with my RC not connecting to a new Android Tablet that I got because it had an HDMI output port on it that I planed to use with HDMI goggles to fly my Mini 2 FPV. The RC had always connected to my Samsung phone but would not connect to the tablet. The tablet worked fine with my Skydio RC though. I kept trying various cables and adapters including an OTG adapter and finally found a combination that worked every time! The first was with a specific USB A male cable into a USB A female to micro usb OTG adapter into a micro usb to USB C adapter then this adapter end into the RC with the other end of the cable with the USB C connector into the tablet. Since then, I have found out that I can use the same combination with the exception of just using a USB A female to micro USB adapter in place of the OTG adapter. The thing that is very critical is a few USB A male to USB C male cables will work but most won't! I have only two that worked and one was short (about 5") and the other was long (about 3') so length does'n seem to matter either. The only way of knowing which cable will work is to try it.

Why use type A at all? Why not just get a replacement for the DJI controller cable? Skip the type A cable, and just use another micro USB to USB C. Male to male with no adapters.

I had the same issue, switched phones. went from a Asus Rog 2 to a Pixel 6 Pro, worked.
It’s kind of weird busy it takes a while to initialize but I figured out how to get it turned on one press and then press and hold both the drone in the controller good luck have fun thanks for watching
Found the solution! The phone connection port on my iPhone 11 was dirty and full of lint and dirt from being in my pocket all the time so the connection wasn't good. It would charge my phone while plugged into the DJI controller but didn't communicate with it. Pockets are pretty dirty and carry dirt and lint that gets inside the phone's charging port over time. I just wrapped the male end of the charging connector with a tiny bit of cotton from a Q-Tip, soaked the cotton in alcohol, and used it to probe the port to clean it. It worked like a charm after that! I still waited 15 minutes until the stupid "liquid detected" message on my iPhone went away. You probably don't have to wait because mine was functioning perfectly and communicating with the DJI controller after that.

I think y9our actually problem was you never turned the remote on haha. tapping the button once only shows battery level. the lights flashing werent saying it was powered on, it was saying it was charged. gotta hold the button til the lights fill up and stay on.
also your attempt to turn off the drone was wrong too... holding the button once its on only puts it in manual sync mode. to turn either device on or off, you have to tap once to initiate, then hold to power on or off.
For me, when I had this error, I thought my hand remote was on (because the green lights were on) but it wasn’t really on. So, I restarted the controller and made sure it beeped when I started it and then it connected.

I know you probably already fixed this since it was so long ago, but mine wouldn't work because my phone was not compatible with the latest upgraded version that recommended on the instruction manual. So I called DJI Support and gave them my phone model number and they are going to send me a link to an updated software version for my phone. I have an A series Samsung and DJI assured me that even though it's not on the list of compatible phones on their support page, they confirmed that it is compatible and they are going to send me updated software to work with my phone.
I did have to update the firmware on the drone and then I had to update the software on my iPhone, so yeah that’s probably it but then I found out that one press and then a press and hold on both of them and then you have to wait a couple minutes before it like initiates so each time I did it, and I have the drone backwards to the back of the drone facing me, and then I would have to wait and then it will pop up so anyway good luck with your drone. @@TomLeeman Hey Tom, I just got off the phone with DJI Support and they told me that they have not finished testing my Samsung A13 5G and it is not yet compatible with the Mini 2. I also have other phones and devices like old Samsung Notes 4 and 5, iPad 68 and Nord 10 5G, but DJI told me none of these have been tested or are compatible either. Man this is frustrating.
I have two other lower quality drones SG906 Beast Pro and EXO Ranger that I can fly until I find a solution. Do you know of anyone that has been successful with a third-party app like Rainbow or Litchi? It seems that these apps claim to work with more phones than DJI has bothered to completely test. DJI can not even give me a date as to when they will complete the testing compatibility of my A13 so that's really frustrating knowing that I might have to send this drone back or buy a new phone.

@@slack619 First you have to find the master list of phones that are compatible with this drone. I listed the one that I worked from in the comments above.

Did you connect your RC-Phone wire to the right socket on the RC? There are two, one works.

If you had an SD card inserted into the aircraft while doing the set-up try taking out the SD card from the aircraft and repeat the set-up and the aircraft, software and RC will communicate after removing SD card.. after communication is establish then reinsert SD card and its should read it no problem.....

Thankyou very much Jimmy. I got my Mini 2 today and was pulling my hair out for a bit until I read your comment. Seems these little devils don't like some sd cards too, as it won't read a Transcend Premium 300x that I had laying around. It would be nice if they included an sd card as part of the package, especially for the price point, but we live and learn. Took the card out and it connected straight away.
This was my solution to my problem.
I was having the same issue plugging it into an older iPAD AIR (IOS 12.5.6) 32 GB tablet .... got 2 different USB-C to LIGHTNING cables, and the SECOND one worked !
Here's the Brand : AUTOTECH (Mizco) .... plus, it's a re-inforced / polymer braided / 5-year warranty cable / $20 CAD
DO NOT get the "elink PD" cables / brand ... it does NOT work in this situation.

@@playstation41 yes make sure that you have your controller charged and your batteries charged. It’s a press press and hold and both the drone and the controller.
if your new to this drone here is the problem , the remote is not powered on. just pressing the button once does not power on the remnote. pressing once is to show battery level. you have to push once then press it again for 2 seconds to power ion the remote.If the remote is powered on the green lights will always be on and not turn off. hope this helps anyone out.

Same exact thing is happening to me. It use to work on my old iPhone XR . Then I got a iPhone 13. Have not used drone for months,now does not connect. Crazy thing.
I finally got it to connect and so I made a couple of videos on that. Once you do get everything turned on and hook up your phone it takes a while for it to engage.
The top button where the flashing lights are press once then press again for a couple of seconds it will shut off ..i had the same issue but quickly learnt ..one thing i didnt learn is how to connect the drone to phone
Did you download the app, need that and then once you turn everything on it should connect and you should see what the camera seeing on your phone good luck thanks for watching

ive done evrerything is it a phone setting,theres got to be a simple solution ive had heaps of drones before.do you need wi fi turned on on the phone, how do you activate when the screen doesnt appear and try the linking to no prevail
I have a video on how to download app and how to update the drone itself but to get it start it once you’ve got that all done it’s one press on the controller and press and hold the Controler beeps and then one press on the drone and then press and hold and then it actually takes a while for it to actuate so you’ve got to wait and then you’ll see the takeoff signal on your phone

You need to do a short press and than do a long press just like you turned on tue drone and you do it the same way with the controller

Hi.. I have a problem, I bought a dji mini 2 combo drone and I can't turn on the camera and sharpness... what should I do, I installed for android 12 and it still doesn't start....?
You gotta download the new firmware, and the app update. What’s that on your phone and on the drone you’re gonna press the controller once and then press and hold in the light so I’ll beep then you do the same thing for the drone and then it takes about I would say at least two minutes for it to activate and you’ll see your phone open and then you should be ready to go. Since this is a year old, I still wanted to comment on why mine wouldn't connect. Seems I had my usb cable plugged into the wrong port on the controller, one port is just a place holder and the other is the actual port.. I plugged mine into the place holder port lol.. Felt pretty dumb after, but now it is working.

your remote is not turned on pressing once only shows how much battery power is left in the controller. quick press the power button than long press the button the same way you start the drone

Hey I was having same issue not 15 mins ago, I played with everything, then it dawned on me. Like every other problem I have had with my tablet has led to my VPN. Once I had turned that off I was able to sync and get everything connected. It is the only thing I did differently. And once vpn went back on I had same issue. My guess vpn throws off drone

at 1:30 you didn't put it on, you only show the battery level, you need to make the same as the drone : push then push and hold.

You turn off everything the same way. One short and one long press. The reason it’s getting hot is because it’s just sitting there on the chair. The mini 2 does not have a internal fan to cool it down.

Facing same issue , neither connecting not getting switched off properly
DUD, you have to do a short press then a long press (just like you did on the drone) on the remote. YOUR REMOTE IS NOT TURNED ON.

i found the solution. had the same probleme on my huawei Y9s. at first it worked fine for a month and one day it just stopped could not connect any more to the drone. i have tried everything, download the dji fly again and again, etc...used other phones, used several different cables, type c to usb adaptors, made sure to do everything i red on the internet and nothing happened. made sure all the batteries where charged, folowed the connection sequence, updated the software, went on the dji help faq, etc....was driving me crazy when i finaly tried on my friends's phone as mentioned as of one of the compatible phones on the dji web site. guess what....it worked and is stilll works perfectley fine.....a xiaomi note 10 pro. why?how? i don't realy know it just works......

I couldn't connect to the Mini 2 using my Samsung Galaxy Note 10 - no problems previously! So, I changed phones to Samsung galaxy s7 edge & no problems! Updated the firmware, switched everything off and reconnected Samsung Galaxy Note 10, connected no problem! Strange.

Yep I got it working it was one press then a press and hold on the controller and then all the lights blanked and it made some beeping sounds that I did the same thing on the drone and then it paired with a drone but it took a while for it to be able to takeoff so you have to be patient good luck thanks for watching

your transmitter was not turned on,it is the same as the drone .The power button has to be pressed twice to power it on which you did not have done,you only pressed it once...lol

You don't actually have the controller on properly, the way you turn the control on is to tap on the power button first and then tap again to turn it all the way on, tapping on the power button one time only indicates how much battery power you have, when you hold the button down after you tap, you'll see that your lights come on and stay on, then you can link the controller to the drone

Mo Na, I had the same issue and what was wrong was that the controller had to be charged. It was completely dead.
Mayby try turn on the controller. You only check battery status but You don't it turn on.
So I had to turn on the controller, a quick push, and then push and hold same thing on the drone

It’s a good try for the new bees. Ive been flying this Chinese junk for years ! There is NO solution I have found that there is no fix for the mini 2 after you firmware update. None. It’s junk. Crap happens. I got my hours…

Talked to DJI or a computer that sounded human anyway. They mentioned all the same things we have already done. Useless. Then said send it in. I’m
Sure it not free service so I’m buying something new. My advice : don’t upgrade firmware . Mine flew perfect for 4 years prior to that.

Short press, long press lights come on on the controller go to the drone short press, long press you’ll hear a click and you should be connecting then it takes a while for the app to hook together but it should work
