Even that you used a totally different techinque for making eyes, she still look a lot like one of your creations, very etellanish. I absolutely adore the skin texture you gave her and also love the shading, blushing, contouring of the eyes and face. Can't wait to see the rest of the custom and I'm sure it will be gorgeous!
Your right the skin texture is very good ,the blush makes her stand inside out abit ,very adorebly.Eye colour...excellent choice indeed is very ''etellanish
I can’t compliment your work enough without sounding like a broken record! All of your dolls are so beautiful and this one is no exception! I would seriously collect them if I could lol. Thank you so much for the shoutout! ❤️
For a second I thought the title said "potion seller" and I was like you can't handle my strongest repaints, traveler! lol But for real, can't wait to see more :D
watching you paint the iris and hearing you calmly talk about old painting techniques with soft, chill music in the background was one of the most peaceful moments i've had in recent memory. thank you. the doll is stunning, as usual.
As critical of your own work as you can be, the rest of us only see the beauty in your art. Thank you for posting this. A tip from the manufacture of actual glass eyes - using thin layers of glue or resin to hold down red silk or wool fibres creates highly realistic capillaries.
Beautyful work on the doll as always though Pointillism as far as I know is an neo-impressionistic artform kinda similiar to pixelart nowadays, where the artist placed small dots of varying colours next to each other without actually blending them which only really can be done when the paint dries in between. They did it this way so the eye would be tricked from afar in thinking there is a gradient when really there isnt.
Im obsessed with the way your style feels like a very cozy-cabin, homemade look. All of your dolls feel so at home and familiar and overall , everything comes together in a way that I can recognize that its yours.
I love the way her eyes look like they could glow in the dark! The eyelashes and the way you styled them make her look so cute and innocent, but the color and more realistic look of her eyes make them look piercing and add a very satisfying contrast.
I admire your candor and spirit... Nothing brings me greater joy than hearing someone openly speak about what they're passionate about and I mean that in the least creepiest way possible
ok but this doll was absolutely gorgeous but your commentary on things u love warm my heart, the hyde and jekyll play was my hyperfixation for so long😭 im glad to see im not the only one who was just enamored with its soundtrack
Weird thing but I really appreciate that undereye circles are being represented as something beautiful. I was always insecure about mine, it’s very prominent and looks slightly like fresh bruises, and seeing your gorgeous dolls rocking the look and being very cute elevates some of that 💕
Etellan is literally so inspirational for artists.. Even though she makes dolls here on yt, she still gives me the same vibes as Quinni (rest in peace, beautiful angel). She's teaching us to never give up in our work, because something is in the way. For me, that is so beautiful... Thank you Etellan, i'll continue watching you, shape your career and i sincerely hope you will continue to do what YOU love
Stop motion definitely needs more respect. Ssooo much goes into them that we dont even think about. Just the effort that goes into making the characters express ALONE is mind boggling! And the effort that goes into making everything so smooth. The paitence and ingenuity, simply amazing
I love how detail-oriented you are! Not only in terms of the art itself, but you always demonstrate such knowledge of your techniques and the cultural/historical influences for your work. It's clear that you do so much research and try your best to understand what goes into your craft, and as an academic I appreciate the hell out of it!
This doll actually helped a little bit with my self esteem to be completely honest. I have heavy eyebags and always have had them, I'm fairly certain it's genetic, and I always find that to be the one thing about my physical appearance that I wish I could change. This doll having eye bags helped me not be so self conscious. Thank you.
Mam, there are tons of talented dollmakers but you’d be heck of a liar if you denied the fact you make the worlds pretty faces. The detail is immense, eye pleasing, and insanely gorgeous
Thank you for sharing this new piece!!! Watching the process for the resin eyes was fascinating! Rainbow High dolls are honestly so pretty and to see you make one up in your style is so exciting! Thank you for the new video!
I really wanted to do this kind of art but seeing how your finger nails grow throughout this video, I realize I don't have enough patience to wait for the results on things that I do. This is amazing. Can't wait for the part 2
Sooooo very sweet, can't wait for part 2 :) I love Baumgartner too (he's from where I live!), I could watch his and your videos all day! Watching his channel is actually how I got into doll repainting, somehow I got a video recommendation for Poppen Atelier one day after watching one of Julian's (go figure!) Also, I just did a makeover for Jade, the green Rainbow High doll. I call it makeover because I did leave her original eyes, but I redid her makeup and dyed her hair. One day I'll be brave enough to do a full custom like you did!
No way!! That's so interesting! I would honestly die happy if I could just shadow him one day, watching him work and learning his amazing techniques. I wanted to get into restoration because of him but too many hobbys already haha. That's so amazing to hear, I hope it went well for you!
@@etellan Wouldn't it be amazing to be a fly on the wall at Julian's studio?! I feel like he is so very particular, he probably never allows anyone other than his family or clients in. I do hope he's training or plans on training others to do his work, it would be a shame to not pass all that wonderful knowledge along.
When you were talking about the painting techniques being used in restoration, I wondered if you had been watching Baumgartner Restoration, I love watching him retouch. It is very cool that you were able to apply those techniques to create, rather than restore. Beautiful job! Edit: I love Jekyll & Hyde, and Sweeney Todd! They're definitely some of my favorite musicals!
the face is sosogorgeous aaaaaahhhh,, i love the attention to detail!! the little freckles and how the different colored lines around the eye socket come together to bring forth more depth and discoloration bc of the sleep deprivation. the eyes too!! the different red and pink shades and how you incorporated different techniques is *chef's kiss*
With ALL the words I know from the English vocabulary I CANNOT EXPRESS HOW I SCREAMED OF JOY WHEN I SAW THE THUMBNAIL. IT'S JUST ADORABLE AND BEAUTIFUL!!!!
This video has shown me that you have/are very emotionally intelligent and you express that beautifully through your art, your words, and how you edit your videos. Keep up the great work :)
IM SO HAPPY YOU CUSTOMIZED A RAINBOW HIGH DOLL- We’ve been selling them at walgreens for the past few months and i was just thinking two days ago it’d be so cool if someone customized one and made resin eyes and everything! omg!
It was really cool to learn about the technique you used on the eyes. I really like making my eyes look realistic too and so it’s really nice to know the name of the techniques that I’d been using all these years.
i am currently rewatching this video because of my plans to create my own “rainbow high” custom. it’s crazy how i had watched this when it had come out and it’s still on my mind today!
Pointillism is a sub-style of the Impressionist movement where the dots are kept intact like pixels so that when you step away it reveals the picture but up close there are just individual dots of color. It’s more of a whole art movement than a technique. It’s an exploration of light color theory and how the eye perceives color. It’s not just dotting paint on the surface of something. Sorry to disappoint but to my knowledge, as someone with a degree in painting, there’s not a fancy term for dabbing wet paint together. 😅
On one hand Im so happy to see folks using the rainbow high dolls to do customs. On the other hand its making me cringe and scream internally seeing folks tear apart brand new dolls😩😂
I am so excited to see someone customizing a rainbow high doll, I just seen them in my local store's toy section and I wanted to get one, and to see someone already customizing gives me inspiration for the future.
She's so pretty!!! I love the different colours and the freckles are gorgeous. I love that she has elongated inner eyes too. I look forward to seeing the rest of her. 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

It's so incredibly cool to see you do the faceup and to see the final result of the eyes!! Seeing you customise a different type of doll is super neat too! that's not to say I don't love what you do with the MH dolls but a different moulding makes for different results and it's so cool. Amazing work ad always!!
I can't wait to see what her hair will be! I adore her freckles and the variation of skin you've given this doll- she almost looks real, despite the exaggerated proportions!
This is partially unrelated to your customization (which is *fantastic* from what I see so far) but I just love the appreciation towards claymation - particularly, Laika studios and ParaNorman. Lol
let me say it O.O
"i stuck my thumb in and poked its eyeballs out"

etellan: the eyes might look a little bad
