I was somewhat moved by your video and I'm a mental health professional. I've only been in state hospitals a few times and share your experience of wanting to see this side of humanity while being scared as hell at the same time. Your presentation is a rather matter-a-fact about mental hospitals, patients, mental illness and staff. Yet at the same time you show a deep compassion for those who are struggling. Thanks, I hope you are doing well, and I will check out the next episode.
I have some mental problems myself. It's nothing too serious, but it does influence my life in a negative way. My therapist diagnosed me with social anxiety, but I've always thought of it more as a depression or disorganized schizophrenia. At times I will find myself confused by the simplest things in school and work, or find social interaction to be something I cannot pull off as well as others. It helps hearing other people with similar problems open up to the world. You're an inspiration.
Wow this is wild. Now I see what I was missing. You totally are bringing so much to my mind with your videos. Man that is wild. I hope you have a good Sunday. God bless you and your family.
your line about a 'get out of jail free card' hit so close to home. ive always had suicide as my escape option and as soon as i was but under observation that was the first thing that made me snap having that option taken away from me.
Read Explaining colours to a blind man. Not only will it enlighten many as to what living with a mental illness is like, it also gives comfort to those sufferers who think there is no hope and that they are alone. It is very informative, sometimes shocking but also very funny in parts. All in all, a good read and highly recommended.
I've never been in a mental hospital, but I came close to voluntarily admitting myself once. I have thought about doing a video about my depression, but as I'm still in the thick of it I find it very hard to talk about, I guess I'm ashamed of being the way I am. If I do, it might be interesting to compare stories, experiences etc and see if my experiences of being a man with depression are in anyway different from yours.
Aw, thanks, I like you already, lol. The Catcher in the Rye is one of my favourite books of alltime, used to be THE favourite until I took a degree in Literature, but I LOVE Holden's character... *decides to read it again for the 400th time... hmmm, which copy this time? lol Thanks so much for the comment.
I like your videos. You are as intelligent as you are pretty. Have you ever read "Catcher in the Rye?" by the way, that deals with the theme of mental illness.
While in a French hospital for a physical health problem I complained that a man was coming into my shared room & having sex w one of the ladies -- they were married & to avoid scandal I was given Tercian & rushed to a locked psychiatric ward for 11 days. I'm American & was far from any help so just had to deal w it. It was interesting & I took lots of forbidden photos w a disposable camera. I lost my job & od'd on the meds but this was 15 years ago & I just try to forget about it. Uprated.

Relentless self analysis, the truths of the depths of the human subconscious crevices.
Thank you for sharing Jess, I know how hard it is to be so open about something that's so private (at least for me).
