    So fun watching you working with Woody! It's fantastic how much you've done with him in such a short time. Really appreciate your explanation about working with horses under threshold and how you can let your horse tell you how they really feel about what you are asking them to do using your methods of positive reinforcement.

    Excellent -as always. Love the comments about working below your horse's threshold & how different horses may go over-threshold for very different reasons

    I think it is amazing. I rode all my horses just as they were in the paddock before catching the bus to school. So many years ago. Never thought anything about it. I would canter up and down the paddock. Don't know how I guided them or stopped them As a teenager your a fearless I did find when I got a new horse and it came with “gear” I took all off and the horse after the shock of finding nothing to hold its head in certain positions was much happier. Today I would be so much more careful but then just jump on and take off

    I love Jesse Drent's work in popularising his Nalanta Bridle. I watch so many horse TH-camrs who cover their horses in bits, tight nosebands and martingales - says a lot about their lack of technique.

      i must look into that I have never heard of a Nalanta bridle

    I watch a lot of the Amish in America ride quite naturally without gear, they have a fabulous relationship with their horses. It's lovely how you relate to horses too, I'm new to your channel and enjoying what I'm seeing. 👍😎👍

      I don't really know anything about Amish riders I should try and find some footage. I am a great believe that there is lots to learn from everyone. Thanks for your comment

    I’m in a drill team and we all ride fully tackles and jump!! We’re all under 19 and our club has been around for 70 years! I think it’s amazing seeing more people ride tackles!!❤

    Hey! Would you use treats/food as a reward less frequently the longer the training goes on then? Are the treats just something to mark whatever behaviour the horse was doing as good at first and then with time they don’t need that marker anymore? x

    • @myyounghorses
      @myyounghorses  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      yes as he learns each stage then he will need less reward. I hope to do a video of his progress, like today was the first time i worked him since the video and he could do walk to canter halt then reinback turn walk to canter halt reward so real progress. Its the threshold that can change things as if he is frightened of something or distracted you only have your connection and relationship to keep him with you. Does that help?
