As a simple classy gents folder the Seb 21 is just awesome:) I do wish that CRK would just start making all Sebs with double lugs as a standard feature. Great review, I was wondering when you would get your hands on one of these. Nice to see such a huge variety of knives reviewed on your channel!
@classof77 I think you make an excellent point, 77. My understanding is that CRK is very receptive to customer feedback so it should be interesting to see if they respond to these concerns. Otherwise I guess we are limited to the pre-2011 blades.
I have never owned or even held a CRK knife but they have to be the most beautiful primary grind I have ever seen. I don't know what it is but just really nice. I appreciate your reviews. Thank you.
Thank you, Mark for the extremely kind comment. The grinds on CRKs are very nice. These are beautiful knives, I would highly suggest checking one out in person if you can.
@mikez65 You know that is almost the exact same way I look at it... why avoid the inevitable? A large and a small, coverin all the bases... man I like your style. Thanks for watching and take care.
@mikez65 That is too cool Mike - very happy to hear about your excellent experiences with the company. This is a small operation where everything is made in America. You can use this knife with pride.
Hey, absolutely - I think the small Sebenza is a great choice for office EDC. The large is pretty large, I wouldn't use it in an office (at least in front of people).
No problem man - just trying to help you out. I know it can be a tough decision. If you have the money and are really into knives then I think it's at least worth checking one out. As I said if you don't like it they hold their value well.
@mikez65 I'm with ya mike. I have no problem w/ S30Vin this blade. It's excellent steel that I would have no problem with in a knife of almost any price. Not only that, but S30V is very practical for sharpening - my understanding is S90V is very tough to sharpen.
@classof77 Hey thank you for watching and taking the time offer your thoughts. Honestly I sometimes feel like I learn more from the comments than actually handling the knife.
I agree Stan - I didn't realize the comments section got this out of hand. Looks like I'm going to have to do some housekeeping. If people want to provide some thoughts on the Sebenza here that's fine but it must remain civil.
You know I honestly am not sure how exactly that was resolved or if it was really a issue in the first place (nothing against Jdavis, just not sure if it was a really a defect or what). I would assume that their S35VN is fine and if there were any issues they have been fixed, but you might want to check out the CRK subforum on bladeforums to see what the latest development in that saga is.
Thanks! Do you know if Chris Reeve ever addressed the issue for the poor edge retention of the S35VN steel that was documented from the famous You Tube guy?
@classof77 You are absolutely right, this one was actually made in 2009 - so way before they started the whole Idaho made thing. I agree that it's an unnecessary addition - does it completely turn me off from the knife? Personally, not really, but I can certainly appreciate your point and would prefer not to have it on there.
@BladeReviewscom I know what you mean I just ordered a few knives and have a few more on preorder probably going to sell my Emersons to help find the new ones
Whoops! The blade steel was chosen because it holds an edge well and is far easier to sharpen for the average consumer. That is why they never went to a higher end steel. I think when you watch the factory tour you moreso realize why these knives cost what they do. Also, Chris Reeves has been involved with many of the customer issues that I've read about and the warranty work and services they provide really help to justify the cost somewhat, too.
@southpawknives Thanks buddy. That sounds about right man - its about the journey so have fun and enjoy the many great knives that will cross your path before the elusive Sebenza. :)
@JohnReviewer112 I don't know man they are two very different knives. The Nyala is beautiful but you may not be able to carry it as much as a Rift (I really don't know - depends on where you live). Get both if you can swing it! ;)
If there was ever a knife maker character in a Ayn Rand book Chris Reeve would be the template. haha Is there any other knife that is as minimalist and tasteful as this one?
@darkchild57 You know a double lug would have been really handy on this one! I think it's a good idea for a standard feature too. It didn't take as long as I thought to get one - at some point I was just like "to hell with it" and pulled the trigger. Thanks - I do try to get a good variety going here - if it has an edge I'm interested. ;)
@thomassmyth65 I hear ya man, my relationship with this one was short but sweet. Great knife but like you, it will be some time before I really pull the trigger on that left handed version just for me.
Honestly man no one is going to be able to tell you if the knife is "worth it" to you. If you want to check it out, check it out. If it isn't your thing then you can always sell it on the secondary market.
@903lew Hah! I hear ya man, it is a lot of coin. However, people like to spend their dough on all kinds of crazy things and in the big scheme of things $350 isn't that bad. When you start getting into higher end knives it just becomes easier and easier to justify that next blade. It's a sickness man... trust me. ;)
@asilaydying1984 Thanks man - sadly this is just a catch and release, but I def want to pick another one up for keeps when I'm in a better position financially.
Fan-fuckin'-tastic review. :) I think for the money, Reeves can afford to throw in S90V or M390 or S110V or some super steel. Granted, S30V is a great all-around steel, as is probably the new steel, but at this price point I expect a super steel.
And no i am not a crk fan-boy. But its true people whom bag crk knives are people that have normally never owned one. And knives are a bit like a car or boat or Motor-Home. If your not going to use a Motor-Home well you wouldn't buy one would you. Well if you don't like crk don't buy one. But how someone can bag another mans knife it amazes me because we are all avid knife collectors in one way or another. And yet there's these brains minus blokes that rubbish the good hard working of a man.
Most all reviews on most knives especially the Sebenza are narrative. I would like to see this guy go out and really put this knife through its paces. Go out and do some heavy duty batoning, put some harsh lateral force on the blade, hang a 100 pounds on the handle to check the blade lock. I just watched a few acid tests on the Benchmade Griptilian (and no I don't own one) and it was really abused and passed with flying colors.
There is a video of a benchmade griptillian i believe it is, same size and style knife being put through it's paces such as batoning, and lateral torque. It held up great. For the money you're going to spend on the sebenza it should be able to hold up.
You know, for 350 yankee dollars I could get a great many things. I could take a week off work and spend time with my girl or go into the forest, no matter what I do it's a lot of bread. Most of all my internal voice is screming "DUDE!". That being said, I did spend about 1000 yankee dollars on my last pair of skis. And a helluvva' lot more on my car (not to mention serive and fuel). I guess we all rationalize things, just different things.
it abit of a joke to be honest. it should be a fast deployment, it should have a great thumb stud and you should be able to flick it out without voiding anything, AT THAT FUCKING PRICE!!!! is it just me that can see what a pile of piss things are here??
you should definitely be able to flick out a 400 plus dollar knife and many people do and u can. it doesn't void the warrenty, they may just charge u to replace the stop pin if it's horribly dameged which I don't think can happen unless your wrist slamming the shit out of it
thepofmeister its an ok knife .because its American made ( woops idaho made) i would go a little more than i might for other knives .i might go as high as $150.00.but $ 300.00 -$450 for the small .$600.00 and up for the large .come on thats why i bought the fake 21 small and the 25 large .as a protest to the selling of hype . the small 21 fake is a good knife d2 60 hrc ti handle .love the blade wish it had a better ( lighter ) handle .had to fine tune it a little .no big deal .
As a simple classy gents folder the Seb 21 is just awesome:) I do wish that CRK would just start making all Sebs with double lugs as a standard feature. Great review, I was wondering when you would get your hands on one of these. Nice to see such a huge variety of knives reviewed on your channel!

Alex, I am not sure I agree but you are certainly welcome to your opinion!

Yep, when I first really got into knives I thought the Sebenza was meh, but here I am drooling over them now, my addiction is bad
@mikez65 You know that is almost the exact same way I look at it... why avoid the inevitable? A large and a small, coverin all the bases... man I like your style. Thanks for watching and take care.
Idaho Made is PART of the design aesthetic, and Chris's signature mark. Great review.
Thanks man. :) SNG review should be coming up this weekend or early next week.
@nofgood4live lol! I'd love to find another one of these at the bottom of my stocking. Thanks for watchin...
@TheSharpestGrape Thanks for watchin my friend! :)
What a beauty, this Sebenza is in my wishlist
No problem man - just trying to help you out. I know it can be a tough decision. If you have the money and are really into knives then I think it's at least worth checking one out. As I said if you don't like it they hold their value well.

@spydercofan99 Thanks for stopping by and watchin dude!
Congrats man I still haven't pulled the trigger on one
i would love a left handed seb 21 but money is tight and by the time i can afford one i will have a list a mile long first lol, great review dan
I have no clue how I missed your review of this knife. I'm looking forward to your thoughts on the SnG... :D
I am looking to by a small sebenza soon
But IS IT WORTH IT? some comments and reviews hate it and some love it
Hi,
Do you feel the small Sebenza is a great choice for edc in a office setting?
Im thinking the large may be a bit too scary for non knife folks.
Thanks!
Do you know if Chris Reeve ever addressed the issue for the poor edge retention of the S35VN steel that was documented from the famous You Tube guy?

@Optionsaregood Hah I hear ya man. Thanks for watchin.
@BladeReviewscom I know what you mean I just ordered a few knives and have a few more on preorder probably going to sell my Emersons to help find the new ones
@DynamoDylan I totally agree man - they aint cheap! Like I said in the review, I feel like their beauty lies in the simplicity.
Whoops! The blade steel was chosen because it holds an edge well and is far easier to sharpen for the average consumer. That is why they never went to a higher end steel. Thanks Locutus!
Thanks, Bob!
Nice review dude!! cool knife!!!
Thanks
Ps nice quick response
hit the nail on the head there. its really a pride of ownership thing, you get it or you don't, and even at that its so subjective.
@JohnReviewer112 I don't know man they are two very different knives. The Nyala is beautiful but you may not be able to carry it as much as a Rift (I really don't know - depends on where you live). Get both if you can swing it! ;)
Welcome to my world.. it never seems to end.
Very nice review thanks!
If there was ever a knife maker character in a Ayn Rand book Chris Reeve would be the template. haha Is there any other knife that is as minimalist and tasteful as this one?
I like that ;)
@darkchild57 You know a double lug would have been really handy on this one! I think it's a good idea for a standard feature too. It didn't take as long as I thought to get one - at some point I was just like "to hell with it" and pulled the trigger. Thanks - I do try to get a good variety going here - if it has an edge I'm interested. ;)
Looks so simple, I like them but they can be pricey!
@grandelfe I've got a couple of those too - interesting little knives!
@thomassmyth65 I hear ya man, my relationship with this one was short but sweet. Great knife but like you, it will be some time before I really pull the trigger on that left handed version just for me.
Ur link to knifecenter leads to bladehq just fyi

@warddman I hear ya man - it's a good deal of scratch!
The sickness lives my friend!!! Strider? Hinderer? next.

@perspicacity89 Thanks man. Hmm S90V could be interesting. I don't have a lot of experience with it so I guess ignorance is bliss sorta.
@asilaydying1984 Thanks man - sadly this is just a catch and release, but I def want to pick another one up for keeps when I'm in a better position financially.
@MakingMasterClass Thanks man - for us knife enthusiasts this is pretty much as good as it gets. :)
@Rudemustang1 Haha sad but true! Its our burden to bear, but man is it fun! I would like to check out both of those at some point... we will see. :)
Great knife, I just dont see spending that much money for a EDC.
Fan-fuckin'-tastic review. :)

Its a nice knife, I just did a little review on it too
Mostly old comments but I wanted to point out a few things: th
Most all reviews on most knives especially the Sebenza are narrative. I would like to see this guy go out and really put this knife through its paces. I doubt that's going to happen with a $350 knife.. I bet it won't even go outside the house lol
LOL. People who spend that much for a knife are afraid to scratch the blade. Narrative reviews are really meaningless without an acid test. Just talk.
There is a video of a benchmade griptillian i believe it is, same size and style knife being put through it's paces such as batoning, and lateral torque. It held up great. For the money you're going to spend on the sebenza it should be able to hold up.
@michaelshore1992 Thanks!
You know, for 350 yankee dollars I could get a great many things. I could take a week off work and spend time with my girl or go into the forest, no matter what I do it's a lot of bread. Most of all my internal voice is screming "DUDE!".

awesome :)
I have the poor man's Sebenza..The Sanrenmu 710..
Maybee one day if I win the Lottery.
@asilaydying1984 It's just another day in the life of a blade addict. ;)
