Great review Adrian. The X50 looks so stylish. Laughed when you mentioned Matt Watson's Carwow "stick of truth" :-) Looks like the X50 needs more powerful struts for the tailgate. My Tucson tailgate rises easily. Keep up the fantastic work.
10:03 can't you adjust it to the back more? and maybe you can adjust the steering telescopically if it is too far reach after you adjust seat backward. Another things is perhaps you should wait for CMCO to over and test it on genting road, because since it launch until today, none of the youtuber test it on genting road yet...well, I mean to make it stand out from other's video. We don't how it perform on genting road until today.
Just when to check out the car today, the seat doesn't have so much gap between my tigh and seat , only a bit bit gap, if u backward the seat a bit and adjust the steering to suit ur arm length, then it should be fine. Btw, I'm just 175cm tall
Seat is adjusted to Adrian's proper driving position to be able to apply full force to the brake pedals. You can check out the proper seating position by our professional advanced driving instructors here th-cam.com/video/RxmcGF4j6Tc/w-d-xo.html
I guess no other TH-camrs ever mention about side mirror problem. I still can see like 50% of the car body on the driver's side mirror. Perhaps the engineers forgot to adjust side mirror alignment from right driving to left driving.
Hello WapCar, I saw an article on the web about how to care for DCT in Proton X50. I quote below. Looks like this came from Proton. Do you have an official source for this from Proton? "During prolonged standstill, it is recommended to shift to ‘Neutral’ position for safety (accidental release of the brake pedal) as well as to prolong the lifespan of engine and transmission roll mountings. Furthermore, there is a safety function whereby the engagement of Auto Brake Hold will be automatically shifted to Electric Parking Brake after 10 minutes of standstill. This is to prevent the brake system from overheating"
Yes I do agreed the power tailgate for 3K is ridiculous expensive & the spare parts for X50 is very expensive & always not ready stock!!! Good luck to the new buyer!!!
only Adrian's review mentioned about Thigh support, this is most important & essential stuff that cannot be seen in brochure. Regardless of how good your design & features, if sacrifice comfort in long run. It is a problem to the driver or passengers.
this is a very good review and very thorough. explained goods and quirks of x50 that some might find it helpful and informative. if i had money i would buy tesla car for full autonomous driving. imagine what i can do in the mean time. lol
Hi Adrian, another well done review for this car !! kudos to you for your detailed homework before the video presentation !! Keep safe and bye ...Oh happy belated New Year to you and your team !.
HAIYAA!!! You saying, “Hi Proton, roll down all windows”, made my flagship X50 roll down all the windows!! This while driving in federal highway lehh. Also, i love the semi-autonomous driving. A godsent when travelling long distance or in traffic jam. It drives and stop in the jam for you! About the thigh support, you are right! But i worked around it by crossing my legs while the car drives it self, making it so comfortable. Worth the money. My 1st proton, from BMW.
Great review! For around RM100k, family car would be the Xpander with ample amounts of space while the fun car with lots of features would definitely be the X50.
Xpander have really bad safety features. For a modern car, 2 airbags is not acceptable. For a family car, safety must come 1st. Aruz, rush or any modern sedan cars like almera city vios would be a better option.
i really like the inside layout. the best i have seen among the peers out there. and the outside is attractive too. rich features for the amount of money you pay. but a wait time of 6 months is just too long. absurd. also, what is the reliability after 3 months of using?
bro so true about them not just adding the power boot feature. I mean its still ok if they expect people to pay for it if they purchase premium and below, but for FS spec, come on man.. still want to squeeze money ah.. not to mention the lack of pedal shifters! Inspira, Preve, suprima all had it, why the hell not x50??
Hello bro, help me decide bro. Im choosing between proton x50 and Honda city rs. Which is better between the two cars if we are talking of value for money and practicality? Thanks, More power to your channel. Nice review. 😊👍
I lost the x50 hype. It doesn't seem to be the car for me. Although the new Almera really makes me keep thinking about it, sadly the branding isn't that strong as the T And H badges. I can't wait for the Kicks to reach Malaysia too
Thanks for the review Adrian, by looking at this recent review I noticed that the fuel consumption is 10.2L/100 km. Which the figures different from the previous acclaimed figures. May I know, is this suv considered as EEV vehicle then??? Kindly, advise.... 🙄
X50 is 1.4 tons, around the same with Jetta. So the city consumption is around that. Only at highway speed my Jetta get 15km per l. If want better fuel economy, go for activa which weigh 1 ton and give 18lkm per l.
is it me but Adrian is getting overcritical for this specific car? you know what? i like it. need more reviews who aren't afraid to tell us consumers what the minute detail most reviewers almost always overlook.
I guess ur really the most suitable X50 reviewer since the previous geely was also being tested by u and made vid on it 11:56 Hopefully the exora replacement model/geely ones will be given this insight aswell
The position you are driving in I would say it's quite close to the steering, but I would like the seat to be adjustable so that it would fit all since all people have different hand and leg length ratio lol.
Joox music is not an upgrade. Whatever dog map system is not an upgrade. Even if they charge 2k for it, give me android auto/apple carplay. Or at least make it available in the top trim. Come on proton, you’re so close

An SUV targeted for family designed with small boot space, now that doesn't sound very logical. The CX-3 is an equally good looking car and has a bigger boot space than the X50.
the whole big bottle test is so useless. don't understand why a niche need is blown out of proportion. The only real problem is side mirror and the whole urban package thing.

Excellent Review! Without Fear or Favour! Both Positives n Negatives of the X50 covered! Well Done!
Rear bench looks really short.. can u compare it to the rivals such as the hr-v? Interested to know
All of the x50 seat is short , I'm 180cm I don't find any support for my tight , be it front or rear
It's shorter, the HR-V have more supportive seats
Right side mirror is a MAJOR ROAD SAFETY issue. A complaint should be lodged with the Ministry of Transport if Proton doesn't fix it.

Can review CX8 bro? The petrol model...like the way you review..keep it up!
In terms of handling and body control, how does the X50 compare to the Mazda CX-3? Is it far off?

CX-3 is much more planted and rewarding to drive. But loses out to the X50 on ride comfort

I think there's mistake on the power output and torque
*177ps@5500 rpm
255Nm @ 1500 rpm
Flaws is the fuel efficiency and second hand market and after warranty parts availability
Great review. The small details that matter.
I have the same seat problem when I went test drive. It does not support my thigh.
Put tower under thigh or modify the seat bracket to make front a bit higher
This problem is not present in proton proton cars. Car seat design thoughts different between geely and proton.
